Day & date can be found on literally every Seiko5 (+-100), and the sun&moon wheel is just a bit of a meme that looks cool like a moonphase but only rotates every 24h, which isn't very complicated at all. It's also fairly pointless, like 24h subdials. Unless you live underground, you can just look out the fucking window to see if you're in the sun or moon part of the day. And if you lived underground, it wouldn't even matter, so even then it's pointless.

You can like them if you wish, it doesn't bother me. Virtually every time I see someone talking about Seikos online or irl, they're this kind of obsessive nerds that instantly talking about how good their watches are even if not asked at all. The worst thing are those insecure retards spamming even in youtube comments when some actually respectable watch like Rolex/ALS/AP/PP/Cartier is discussed that 'well I really like the [respectable watch XYZ] but I decided to buy [my Seiko shitter] because I ultimately think it's better investment and quality'. Making these stupid comparisons to idk pretend that a seiko can be compared to a Rolex while it's 100% obvious for everyone but the fanboys that it's not even a valid queston to ask lol. But I'm not the /wt/ regular so that's my normie opinion here. You can do whatever you want with it. Just my $0.02

Was just as an indication that even in the 80s (when the seiko5 line was launched) day/date complications were common on inexpensive watches. Many brands will have some offerings at 300 or less, unless they're trying to be fancy about it.

I see your point, but I also see theirs. Seiko (especially their earlier models desu, they try to squeeze punters a bit hard these days) puts many brands to shame when it comes to straight quality and parts. Their lume is unrivalled, especially at that price point, and there's a reason so many microbrands use their movements..

That said, I've never been able to get myself to like the SKX, and there's something wrong with almost every other diver they make. Useful? Sure. But not sexy..

I don't want any flame here. If you enjoy your watches then great for you guys. I just couldn't wear any Seiko and arguing on 4chan won't convince me, quite opposite, so don't bother and let's focus on this Orient. That's a pretty laid back shitter without any pretentious fanbase and I'm going to enjoy it severely for what it is (i.e. a $300 watch) without feeling like I have tons of associations over my shoulders. Or maybe you rather want to convince yourself about your Seikos? If so that's the thing I cringe about. Here's an example of one of the most upvoted comments on some ALS vs. Seiko video. Extremely heavy and thicc for the NH35 it houses, but I fell in love with the Panerai style numerals and nothing else was really available in that configuration in my price point. Im a quartz guy, but the quartzes that use that type of dial have some other dumb addition that I dont care for (Techne, for example).
I would also like if the hands were not polished, like on the V30, being more in line with the Sinn plane instrument aesthetic, but that was before I knew whats what. Also, most of the older Geckotas are unobtainium, seeing as most of their pieces are limited to 70 pieces or some shit.

Mad respect for Orient. They are becoming the value brand because Seiko is moving away from sub $300 watches that punch above their weight class. If you’re looking for a diver, take a look at the “Triton” which absolutely shits on the SKX series, Turtles, and goes neck to neck with the Sumos. You can easily grab one for $250. This watch would go well with overpriced Japanese raw denim, barely scuffed Red Wings boots, a perfectly starched white t-shirt, and a crisp leather belt (full grain, of course). I don't know much about Vostok but I like the prices of those watches. I just want a simple Vostok infantry or komandirskie watch that looks like normal western field watch (Timex) but most of the time its one of those typical Vostok dials like previously mentioned 'scuba dude'. oh and all lume on the numerals. but they don't exist or do they?

The non-existent lume on your variant was mentioned on the watch description. that's why I went for the black dial of which the lume is pretty good.

Also what happened to MWC? did they go bankrupt?

If you don't want to go down a g shock route, you can definetly get by with a regular quartz watch, you might want to avoid mechanical watches, since dropping them on hard surfaces can potentially damage them, some mechanical watches are tough, most aren't. The ship in that picture alone for example literally raped the Empire of Japan single handedly.

Was interested in Tudor all year, even preferred most of them over Rolex pieces. Was rocking Seiko SKX up to now.

Anyway, I bounced around phases of liking their models, mostly BB58, then the ETA Black Bays (which i almost got). I pretty much overlooked the smooth bezel Heritage ones until this summer, then I really looked at them a lot and got hooked on their simplicity and execution. The movement is awesome, the dial is just how I like it. I see it as a tool watch, utilitarian, smart looking. Beautiful on bracelet and could do straps too. So after much deliberation and watching Random Rob vids I decided to go for it.

There is some loser who just spams the Forester here every thread. It's a cheap shitty watch and your G-Shock is likely better in every single way.
The DW-5600 which is the basic square G-Shock is also the thinnest so if you don't have that already you can get it for $40 new all day every day and if that's what you have and it's getting snagged I would just get an AE1200 which has around the same proportions, but less, and punches way above it's $20 price in functionality. The band on my f-91w broke so I put it on a cheap shitty nato strap I bought online. I tried what I think is the normal way to use a nato strap, where you get the end of the strap sticking out right at the upper side of the watch case, or you have to tuck it in. Seemed annoying so I tried this method: https://youtu.be/LbKiWPF2ccs
But that seems rather annoying too. Is it better to just cut off the underside piece?

Fuck I'm an idiot, I should have watched a video on how to remove the original strap instead of experimenting, I scratched it and might have damaged the inside too, oh whatever it's cheap as fuck, as long as it stays on the strap I guess it's ok.

Your retarded, square watches wear larger. Does that 47mm look like it wears smaller? 50mm lug to lug..... 49mm max what shitters are you buying. The reverso is meant to be 42mm lug to lug whatever you want to say.

Yes, the Monaco wears massive. Have you ever tried a reverso on, the wear very plank like, the should try watches on in person before comment on them. What I'm saving is commonly known. Just go back to your Seikos......
