Is ADG Profumo worth it? I had a bottle of regular ADG that I used as a work frag. It typically only lasted a half-day at most.

This fragrance opens with a forbidden, transgressive accord of Bitter Orange and Cocaine, bitterness and metal. Then, the liquid is slowly diffusing and both heart and body warm up. Elegance of the Ylang-Ylang and sweetness of the Bailey’s cream. Finally, the opulence of the Patchouli andSandalwood give a powerful and completely addictive effect to this Extrait de Parfum. Let yourself be intoxicated by this sumptuous, sensual and sophisticated alchemy.

I'm so glad that I reduced my collection substantially and try to always stay at 10 full bottles max. It seems to me like most of people with elaborate collections are just addicted to that feel between wanting a fragrance badly through buying it and once it arrives and you apply it couple times you actually stop enjoying as much as you were enjoying the thought of buying it. It was kinda the same with me. I feel like you stop appreciating your bottles once you have too many of them, too. It's a weird addictive hobby. Early days I think I was flirting with addiction, I bought thirty bottles in two years, but this year I’ve bought one. I wish I’d known about sampling sooner, but I’m also not unhappy with my collection aside from a couple that get neglected.

I think sampling has proved that I don’t know what I like quite as confidently as I thought I did. As my nose became more refined I realised that the things I couldn’t detect months ago were actually quite significant differences and suddenly it wasn’t as clear what I thought was good and bad. I still have 30-40 bottles, no doubt “too much” to a lot of people, but quite comfortable to me.

I could see myself buying a Prin fragrance and possibly Papillon, but other than that I don’t have a strong desire to buy more bottles, but sampling is definitely the way forward for me. The price of a night down the pub for a small selection of smelly water samples seems reasonable to me.

I bought this after anon shilled the discount code to get it got 20 quid a couple threads back, its the La Route De Soie discovery lab, did anybody else get it or was it just me who got meme marketed? It's pretty interesting stuff, I forget which is which but there's a lot of citrus and rose going on and lychee in one of them too which is pretty cool. I haven't had time to really think about them all yet but the only masculine one as far as I can tell is Xandria, and it lasts like crazy, one spray on my wrist yesterday afternoon and I can still smell it although obviously there's zero sillage by now and it's just on my skin. Strong tonka bean and its kinda powdery in the dry down, not my usual kind of thing but I kinda like it. I'll keep that and give the other samples to the girls in my family I guess.

Dangerously close to buying En Passant. I know there are fans of it here, how versatile do you think it is? And you you feel it’s more of a “non-fragrance” in the sense you could wear it and nobody would know unless they were really close?

Ok, so far, Koala is reminding me a bit of Carven’s L’eau Intense, but spicier and more herbaceous. The opening is a cool blast of eucalyptus. After that, you start to get a slightly sweet, spicy, citrusy thing, still with the eucalyptus, but less intense and a bit less green.

Yes, I got a sample set didn't get any bottle but really enjoyed using all of the samples to learn more and develop my nose. Many Zootopians are also pretty unique not only scent-wise but also because you can clearly get three very different phases of development. Typically it's more or less linear experience and with some of them every 2 hours you have almost like a new fragrance on you.

Lol, get realitycheck. It's borderline too fruity sweet. Nothing about Aventus is professional. It's a I-want-to-get-attention-in-night-club type of scent. If anything GIT is way more professional than Aventus.

Yes, and that's why Aventus is the fragrance of choice of teenage hypebeasts and sex-core guys from big cities. Never smelled it on anyone but these two types in the real life and I smell plenty of different fragrances on the London tube.

I really don’t think the aqua notes are that dominant. It reminds me more of lilacs that have recently been watered. It’s not like some massive oceanic thing, it’s almost watery in the sense that it smells of nothing, if such a thing were possible. Definitely one to sample though despite its simplicity.

I’m only halfway through the Malle roundtable interview and the reverence they have for Roudnitska is immense. He died over twenty years ago and made only a relatively small amount of fragrances but is still an absolute Titan.

I also love Malle’s stare. A kind of death stare, but in an instant he lights up and is so suave. Bourdon’s rant about the big companies removing the artistry from perfume is great, but somewhat odd since FM is owned by one of those companies.

Another wear of Amber Teutonic from my sample. The opening is 9/10 but I still can't go over how much more generic it turns after 1-2h - smells like vanilla custard with sprinkle of spices and saltiness (that reminds of a way more polite PR Ambra Aurea) + some cedar. I kinda don't buy the notes breakdown DS Durga provide, there are no firs of different kinds here to my nose - what I get is mostly cedar (a generic one not 'Alpine' kind lol).

I particularly like when they started defending synthetic ingredients. It fits into a bigger picture where perfumers want to inform public that calling everything 'natural' is just yet another marketing gimmick. Luca Turin was openly praising some synthetic ingredients, too. It seems like sophisticated fragrance enthusiasts are also becoming aware of that (for example Wafts' metamorphosis from talking shit about synthetics to the recent praise of ambroxan). Hard times for brands that built they entire image around using natural ingredients. They will probably survive if at least their perfumes are decents but good luck Areej Le Dores and other Ensar Ouds - you charged premium only because you claimed to use the best natural ingredients but the compositions were more than often just so-so. Good.

Maurice Roucel made me realize that fragrances indeed these days are mostly judged by the first 10 seconds instead of the entire aura it creates around you throughout the day. I'm also to blame for ordering 10 samples and neglecting half of them because how they smell out of the atomizers.
