I was doing some major cleaning and redecorating earlier today and I found a sealed box of Versace Eros dated 2013. I'm guessing it was gifted since I've always found the frag too cloying and synthetic. Is it possible to sell it to pajeets in my Fragcomm groups for over grey market price?

Scent for this evening from Bianchi is The Black Knight. Not important but this is by far the thickest, most oily one yet. Don’t spray anywhere near clothes or carpet or upholstery. I’m afraid to put my arm anywhere near anything because it’s left a thick sheen on my wrist. Smells absolutely fantastic however. There’s something about all of her fragrances so far that feels like it’s her work. It’s hard to put my finger on what it is that’s consistent throughout the six I’ve tried. It’s not even notes necessarily, but just a kind of “feeling” I get from them. My immediate thoughts are it has an almost gourmand sweetness, but not even remotely cloying. It’s kind of like it has the gentle sweetness of honey, but the dark richness of treacle. It hasn’t been long enough to give more detailed thoughts but possibly my favourite opening yet. Possibly.

Just got Dior Homme Sport 2012 in the mail. To be completely honest, it's so similar to the current formulation (minus the beast-modeness) that I couldn't justify paying more than I did for it ($55 @ 100ml). It smells a bit more versatile and less shower-gel but still, 90% similar to the 2017 formulation that's on the shelves today.
I think this is one of the only cases of the current formulation mogging the old one.

I suppose it depends on a few things. What’s your budget? Are you looking to start this as a hobby? Do you have any you currently enjoy (even by knowing them from other people)?

In the U.K. we have Fragrancesamplesuk, Bloom, Les Senteurs, and for discounters on full bottles Notino, AllBeauty and Perfumeclick. This is by no means comprehensive, just the ones I’ve used and know are good.

Sampling is useful, but expensive. You’ll pay more per ml for a 1ml sample than you would if you bought a whole bottle, but it’s still cheaper than buying a bottle you don’t like.

It depends on the sprayer and fragrance as to how long they’ll last. As a rough estimate I think people say you get about 700 sprays for 50ml, therefore 1400 per 100ml. You have 5600 sprays. If you wear three sprays a day you have enough for five years. Slow down.

I was recently blown away by Papillon's Dryad, which I would describe as a bombastic green/woody successor to Vol de Nuit with a chypre-like vibe (probably because of the prominent oakmoss). I feel like it could be very sexy on both men and women, and I don't even ordinarily think of fragrances as sexy. I'm wondering why it gets so little attention here and what other posters think of it.

Speaking of underexposed fragrances, explain to me why Rhinoceros gets so little attention. I think it's a very solid, beautiful scent, and while I understand why it may not have mass appeal, it seems to hardly even come up in discussions of good leathers. Sadly, I hear they're going to reformulate it, probably because it isn't selling. When you factor in how much staying power you get from a single spray, it's actually a pretty good deal, too.

I wrote a script to get a frequency list of all the fragrances that women listed as "most attractive" here:

These are the most popular fragances (name/hits):

Today’s Bianchi is Etruscan Water.

The first thing I noticed was light citrus, which I didn’t expect from one of her fragrances. What is this, Dior? That dissipates almost instantly however and it gets down to business. It’s quite green, and once again it has a kind of buttery aspect and I can only assume that’s orris root. I mentioned before about there being something consistent throughout the ones I’ve tried and even though I don’t know how to describe it, it feels like that must be it. Can anybody explain what orris root is like?

Anyway, it seems to me to have a slightly fizzy element to it, like a nice carbonated drink with lots of leafy greens in it and a suggestion of citrus. I could really see myself loving this. It’s too early to make comparisons to something like Eau Sauvage, but that to me is a 10/10 and this is already vaguely reminiscent of that.

Fuck, this is good. It actually made me laugh a little because of how snice it is.

a guess its a bit unisex, but the rose doesn't give off anything too feminine (the rose ends up being my favorite part of the scent)
honestly amazing
pretty annual, imo, even though it leans a bit cold

Chergui is a pretty nice amber, and used to be very popular, but perhaps is overshadowed by more recent niche fragrances; perhaps more unisex than ambre nuit. some people like the hay in it, i dont really get much hay in it at all, but maybe im deaf
very much a cold months scent

i haven't tried d&g the one, but apparently that is also a very good amber scent that leans masuline

This evening's Bianchi is Sticky Fingers.

I'd quite like to eat my own arm. The tobacco here reminds me a lot of Tobacco Vanille, but obviously it's surrounded by different notes so that's not to say the fragrances are similar, but that's the kind of vibe I get from the tobacco. The patchouli is dark and earthy and the scent overall is not what I'd call unclean, but unwashed if that makes sense. It's an otherwise clean person with a few rough edges. Maybe the leather and tobacco is covering up their cleaner side. I also get a suggestion of chocolate. It's not particularly sweet, but it does smell delicious.

Two more to go after this.

I know I've already asked that question months ago but I'm wondering what I should look into for niche frags my father might enjoy. He loved 80's classics like Bel-Ami (he says he love smelling like a horse), Fahrenheit, Lapidus by Lapidus and Anteus, recently I smelled on him l'envol edp and voyage d'hermes; his favourite note is patchouli but he's looking for a specific patchouli that he says he's not able to find anymore as he finds most newer patchouli fragrances to smell like "neglected ass". Bought him Patchouli Intense which he seemed to enjoy (really was tempted to keep the bottle for myself), I'm wondering about HdP 1740 and psychedelique by Jovoy.

Today’s Bianchi is Sex and the Sea Neroli. I almost feel I should have sprayed the original on the other wrist to do direct comparisons, but regardless, this opens up lighter, presumably thanks to the neroli, and doesn’t have the sharp pineapple opening. It took a while for the original SatS to turn funky, but when it did it became a little too much for me. I’m interested to see how it develops because the notes are very similar between the two aside from the Neroli.

I’m at a point where I definitely should have done a comparison because the dirtiness has full taken over but from memory this feels more tame. One thing I will say is that I went outside earlier and it’s quite windy and I caught the smell on the wind and it was really lovely. I assume most of the fragrances are tested by people like me sitting in their home sniffing their wrists like a lunatic, but if I had friends around maybe they’d have a different impression of it than me. I still think this and the original are the two least wearable, certainly in closer/warmer environments, but I actually could see this working by the sea. I wonder how it would smell mingling with the natural smell of the beach and the ocean around you. From a more objective standpoint I’d say they’re both impressive fragrances, but I’m struggling to imagine when I, or anybody else, would wear them. Probably when they’re sat at home sniffing their wrists like a lunatic.

The final Bianchi is Angel’s Dust.

My immediate thoughts are it’s packed with rose and smells a lot like Portrait of a Lady. It’s not as jammy and it feels a little more subdued, but that was my immediate thought. It feels more delicate than PoaL. PoaL is a bouquet of roses presented to a loved one. Angel’s Dust is more like the scattered petals leading to a bedroom. I think I saved a great one for last and I’m excited to see how it develops.

Now all the Bianchi fragrances have been tested once I’ll take a break.

Today is En Passant, an absolutely delightful fragrance that makes for something of a pallet cleanser after all of the thick and dense fragrances. The name is perfect because it’s not something that announces itself, but rewards you every time you catch a waft of it. It really is “in passing”, you smell it and it’s gone, but every time you smell it it puts a smile on your face. I can’t see this being one I would wear but it really is lovely.

Profumum Roma Ambra Aurea (best slightly animalic-salty amber), Zootopian Civet (don't worry about name there's no stinkinness to it), Interlude (I was thinking of replacing Jubilation with it there, but Jubi seems to be the more popular choice so went with it), Mollinard Ambre Lumiere and Amouage Opus VI (these two are ambers of the same genre as Ambre Sultan but worth testing out nevertheless), Armani Prive Ambre Eccentrico (sweet), Dior Mitzah (the best fem leaning sweet amber), Ormonde Jayne Tolu (also a bit fem but beautifully floral), Jovoy Psychedelique (comforting patch+amber),

>I have spent probably $2-3,000 on just 5-6 expensive fragrances and though they smell good they are not worth it. Not only do many of them not last long a lot of people don’t even think they smell good. I know you’re supposed to buy fragrances for yourself but if others don’t think they smell nice then it kinda sucks hearing that. My top compliment getters and best performers are all under $100. I’m never spending over $100 on a single fragrance ever again. Creeds performance is horrendous besides GIT. My aventus lasts 4 hours on a cool day. Pathetic. My Invictus Aqua lasts for over 10 hours and was $60 and smells better to the general public.
