44 here. anybody can starve themselves dude. part of it is genetic. i've noticed that most of the people that i grew up with are fat and balding. i've also noticed that most of this is due to lifestyle. if you don't overeat, pay attention to what you put in your body, and excercise a few times a week you will be set. for instance, i only eat two meals a day, they are healthy, and i walk a few times a week, and surf a few days a week. i only drink two nights out of the week, no other drugs. this keeps me at the same bmi and weight that i have been at since i was 20. however, there are three things you can't escape: 1. grey hair. 2. your head, nose, and ears do continue to grow (how horrifying) 3. wrinkles. sun damage, smoking etc exacerbates this.

TL:DR: you don't have to be a health nut perse, but you do have to maintain generally healthy lifestyle practices.
