Is it just me or do most tobacco fragrances not smell like tobacco? They seem to suggest the idea of tobacco by using some kind of sweetness combined with hay to make a tobacco suggestive accord, but that doesn't really do it for me.

He uses tobacco absolutes that are rich and full bodied. Not whispy light tobacco. Honestly just email josh like every two days and he will eventually respond. Be very polite, but persistent and he will get back to you. He’s just pissed off because everyone is flipping his frags. He just wants to sell to honest enthusiasts

Looking for a recommendation: Mugler's Over the Musk is one of the best smells I've ever experienced. But $225 for 2.5oz seems excessive to me. Now, 12h after spraying I can tell that it didn't develop a lot after the initial 2h. The overall Yatagan vibe prevailed till the end. I'm sure quality of ingredients is there but Yatagan is not even close to be synthetic screeching. Would be interesting to give both a spray of FM Promise and Yatagan to people on each hands in a blind test and see what are they reactions. I really think that majority wouldn't necessarily say that Promise is a way better fragrance than Caron (especially after the initial 2h, in the drydown).

>> No.15627237

That's a kind of badly posed question to ask where there is a point of diminishing returns in general. The entire concept is about the improvement being gradually smaller and depends on your personal threshold of perceived 'top/enough of' quality. For some it'll be $50 because you can find excellent cheapies that mogg the shit out of many $200+ fragrances. For this will be massively concentrated and long lasting natural juice of Profumum Romas that go for $250. There are also oud enthusiasts who hunt best attars and will tell you that you want get anything remotely good for less than $300 per 3ml. Different strokes for different folks.

Broken in stonewashed Levi’s 501s with a tucked in white t shirt. Either vans or some loafers with white socks. Naturally well lit apartment with beaten up hardwood floors and white painted walls. Aloof and very casual but in a pensive way.

Woodcut has amazing bitter-herbal (pine?) opening together with some smokiness coming out shortly after (a bit akin to Profumum Roma Arso) but eventually it converges to smooth photorealistic woods (oak and cedar that smells a bit like sauna) and caramel accord. The woody-gourmand accord brings PG Aomassai 10 to mind. My gf liked it too but keep in mind that it's not purely a woody smell but it has quite dominant gourmand twist to it.

Not bad for what it is, if it were priced at like 50-60.00 it’d be a great deal and highly recommended I think, but at the prices Jeremy is asking, it’s just insane. Dude’s asking right around Creed prices for something comparable to Sauvage.

So I recently ordered Nautica Voyage per many recommendations. I haven't worn cologne in years and wanted to get up to my wife's level (she has tons of perfumes.)

I hated the Nautica immediately. It stings my nostrils, lingers in my face, and smells like a fabric softener sheet.

I've lived by the ocean my entire life. Why do people say this has a ocean scent? Not remotely. Maybe if you fell off your surf board and took a nose full of sea water, I guess.

So I went to the mall and tried many samples. I started with Dior Sauvage, again per the many recommendations.

My wife liked it, but to me, the same as the nautica voyage complaints, just nor AS bad.

So. Next!

I settled on Bleu de Chanel. The associate sold me EDP. I didn't sample the parfum or EDT. I enjoyed it in the store, took home a bottle, and re-applied it this evening. Sitting here, it reminds me of the other two I mentioned. Now, it isn't as bad as Voyage, but it still fills my nose. In fact, it is giving me a headache.

I'm returning the Bleu de Chanel tomorrow. I would very much like to get something... how do I describe it? Succulent? Wood-like? Maybe a little musky? Something smooth, maybe even fruity (not acidic though)? Maybe something akin to desert food?

Help a brother out! Suggestions greatly appreciated here.

Macy's is 15% off on scents. I got the BDC for 70$ after tax. I suppose I'd go up a little in cost, but I'd rather not. So... help?

Edit:

So I tried a bunch more, YSL nuit, D and G the one, JPG le male, JPG ultra Male, paco one million lucky,

And

Ultra Male is the big winner! Thanks for all the advice everyone. I love it. My wife LOVES it. Win win.

Gucci Guilty Absolute is by far the best commercial leather I´ve come across. Its enough animalic and dirty to be a panty droper if you can pull it off and it can be a gateway to niche stuff.

AHSEE.

It’s suitable for all year, it lasts longer, leaves a beautiful sillage and is far more interesting. It’s probably not suitable for extremely high heat, whereas AHS is, but it’s still more versatile.

If you think it smells disgusting you just don’t have the requisite masculinity to accommodate it

Why not? It’s a couple hundred bucks here and there

It’s all relative, if you’re on a tight budget obviously it would be a poor choice, but if you have the money why not buy things that give you joy? Once you get past a certain age it seems like time speeds up and you have to fit as much life in as possible before death gets you, why would you not engage with the things you love?

It's great but Ombre Leather, Fahrenheit and Bulgari Black have even more personality. I was seriously considering including it on the flowchart. If I ever expand it further then GGA will likely end up there.

Okay so the best way I can describe this is that I recently got a patchouli citrus (lime) soap that has a really effervescent quality to it. I guess it's the lime here so I should be looking for a citrus based frag then.

Anyway, not really sure if I could be a true patch head. Might be looking for something very mellow

posting in both threads now

I own Maacks Coal. The papery notes - not the ISO - smells like a girl I had a crush on in school. I still catch whiffs of the scent every once in a blue moon. I think it may be washed/cleaned textiles? Linen tends to not smell like it though, and the scent is only ever fleeting. I imagine women have a similar reaction to ambroxan.
