even actual male human pheromones can have varying effects on other humans - apparently this is affected by the presence of certain genes, which depending on the genes present in the smeller, could lead to the smeller perceiving pheromones as sweet, as musky/sweaty, or not smelling it at all. And this is for pure extract of human 'androste....s' (androstenone,tadienol,sterol,...)

So in other words - no one knows, so if you pay big bucks for musky/phereomone based frags, you're likely getting ripped off while smearing some pig saliva/human urine extract on your neck

The funny thing is that the oud they're using is probably the same synthetic one that is being used in TFOW and Montales etc. I really think that this is a harbinger of the end of the oud craze that's been last 15 years. More sophisticated customers who had a chance already be overexposed to oud fragrances have escaped into artisanal ouds. Hence the popularity of all ALDs, Ensars and all niche houses having some expensive oud fragrance in their line up. Now it's time for wider market to get used to it. I think that in 5 more years it'll be tacky to wear anything with prominent oud in it. Screencap this post.

I tested around 10 different OJs over past couple months and try to experiment a bit Montabaco Verano, Black Gold, Nawab Oudh and Taif are also fucking excellent and at some point in future I'm also likely going to replace something in my collection with the first two. Ordinary Montabaco, Zizan and Ambre Royal are also great but they didn't blown me away but you might be interested into looking into it. So should i listen to reviews or is it all subjective?

I see a lot of fragrances gather tons of reviews 4/5 ratings while others are more middling 3/5s but when i go on youtube and read up articles about the fragrances that are middling i see high praises. I'm specifically looking at goldfield and banks fragrances and i've been wanting to get blue cypress for myself but on the youtube side i see good feedback and on fragrantica i see people shit on it. i know there are fragrances that get a more positive reviews so it leads me to believe so are just better than others but seeing the different communities go back and forth on some fragrances leads me to believe i shouldn't even be looking at what people think of them. also people on fragrantica seem to be super snobby just by how they write their shit and almost feel like they are trying to kill certain "hype" fragrances which is funny to me since it's such a niche thing that even if a fragrance has hype behind it we are just talking about a few gurus with maybe a few hundred followers.

what do you follow /fa/? do you read reviews and recommendations or do you just go for what you're gut tells you?

>> No.15616799

I have a lot of fragrances I bought over the years without really knowing anything about them, although they aren't bad I would like to know if I'm right about them, I'm a 20 yo male:

yohji homme - got it as a gift, smells kind of different and old, I don't hate it but barely use it, I think it's a autumn-winter kind of fragrance for older ages

l'eau d'issey pour homme - smells like something for older men and winter, barely use

bottega veneta pour homme - same as the above

chanel allure homme (not sport) - the first fragrance I purchased kind of knowing a little bit, I think it's vastly superior to the sport version which to me smells kind of tacky and something you put on after the gym, it quite sweet which I think are the fragrances that suit me best and overall the first I purchased and thought was good for me, kind of summery though

D&G the one - Very similar to chanel allure but also a bit more understated I would say, smells maybe a bit older but I still like it, I would say like allure though doesn't last too long and a bit too summery but overall I liked it too

acqua di parma cedro di taormina - probably one of the best performing fragrances I've had in terms of lasting time, super super fresh summer kind of fragrance but not one I can use daily as it can get repetitive

tom ford tobacco vanille - now this I purchased last year because I wanted tom ford for ages and this to me just smelt amazing, I didn't purchase a big one, so it wasn't as expensive but still, I love the smell but it does feel very old, I don't use all the time as it doesn't feel super appropriate but still love the smell, durability is okay

Currently have - acqua, issey, bottega, TF, yohji

I want to get a new sweet fragrance and I'm looking for suggestions, I've tried chanel allure and d&g the one and like both but want to try something new, and the ones I'm thinking about are quite pricey.

As fuccboi as creed aventus is I love it and want to buy, any other suggestions?

>yohji homme
Luca Turin calls it one of three best masculines in existence. And I believe he's not wrong. The gourmand licorice-rum-coffee accord served on woodsy-spicy plate is brlliant. It's 100% Autmn-Winter. I wouldn't say it is old, but definitely not Sauvage/BdC-core, rather sophisticated.
>l'eau d'issey pour homme
>old
C'mon dude. Everyone has his own associations but it's a staple fresh fragrance. Are you sure you have the classic PH not some Intense flanker? Cause it's definitely made for warmer (hot) weather - the scent was created by Issey to mimic the feel fresh water has.
>chanel allure homme
It's a sweet fruity cute frag that I personally wouldn't wear but I guess it should work for a 20yo. Again I wouldn't say it's a typical summer fragrance, rather spring-autumn given that it can get cloying in heat.
>D&G the one
Completely different than Chanel Allure. At this point I think that you should just sniff more cause you're a noselet. It's a warm ambery oriental. You're right that it might be intended for a bit more mature audience than Chanel (25+ I'd say).
>acqua di parma cedro di taormina
That's good summer stuff. You should try other blue AdPs or Bright Neroli.
>tom ford tobacco vanille
>I purchased last year because I wanted tom ford for ages
Peak consoomer mindset. However, TFTV is quite good. Again it's not very old lol.

And that is what I meant by D&G, I think it's similar and slightly older than chanel, not saying D&G as whole is old, just made that comparison because they are somewhat similar. I wouldn't say tobacco vanille is exactly the most well known TF, that said I purchased these fragrances without browsing this so purchased purely on smelling so many times and then deciding to grab it, even if its a smaller one. I'm new to the hobby as of about a year ago and I dug myself into a deep hole by being stupid and only buying full bottles (figured it was a better value proposition per bottle, but now it's become clear that I have way too much of way too many fragrances, many of which are mediocre)

Of the following, which are worth keeping? And how would I best go about selling/trading the rest of the bottles?

-Terre d'Hermes EDT 100ml
-Prada L'homme 100ml
-Guerlain L'homme Ideal Cologne 100ml
-Guerlain Vetiver 50ml (I prefer TdH's take on vetiver to this one, though I know that is unpopular)
-Guerlain Habit Rouge EDP 50ml (very dense and interesting scent, but there aren't too many situations that this one fits)
-Guerlain Heritage EDP 100ml (i'm inclined to keep this one)
-YSL La Nuit De L'homme 100ml
-Dolce & Gabanna The One EDP 100ml (this and LNDLH seem redundant, but I like them both and the gf likes them)
-Mugler Pure Havane 100ml (i like this one a lot, but it's a bit cloying so I don't find myself wearing it as often)
-Versace Dylan Blue 100ml (the gf loves this one,
I could take it or leave it)
-Polo Black 125 ml (first fragrance I ever bought before getting into the hobby. This one is shit)
-Azzaro Pour Homme 50ml (didn't sit well with me, I've worn it maybe twice)

Got back from my local shit Douglas, brought a few stripes home
>TF fucking fabulous
meh and ultra androgynous scent, i'd imagine a tik-tok eboy wearing this. Also, taking the price into consideration, I think i'd rather go with guerlain l'homme ideal, but i dont know how the two compare in terms of performance tho
>TF tuscan leather
im a newfag into leather fragrances, but this is something i'd wear personally, smells like a new pair of leather shoes, but with something sweet and edible added to it, very high quality and I imagine it would last for a long time. If someone knows a good clone or cheaper counterpart of it, please let me know
>TF tobaco vanille
It smells different now than it did when I was in my car on my way back home. It initially smelled more vanilla-dominant, like some christmas gingerbread type of thing, but now some sort of dried raisins or plum got to the front. Ultra comfy, i feel like it should be a next step after the London on the chart. It has a similiar vibe, but is a tad sweeter and much more complex
>TF neroli portofino
meh, it's elegant and very pleasant, but lasts like 30 minutes. I'd get Colonia Essenza over that, it's more bold and masculine in my opinion. Doesn't last long tho, but it's very strong while it lasts. I've yet to try Bright Neroli, can anyone tell me how does it compare to those two?
>Montblanc explorer
smells 1:1 like my cheap nivea shaving cream, generic ambroxan shit
>le male le parfum
i don't know what it is, but it smells gay

Bright Neroli is 80-90% similar, the difference is that its a bit heavier on white floral aspects of Neroli Portofino and lasts 10x times longer than NP.

What is a 'too offensive' animalic for you? Kouros? Frederic Malle's Musc Ravageur has this beautiful animalic opening that passes away in 30minutes. It makes MR really special in my eyes as it's like the perfume says 'it is for your nose only' and then goes away. The new version of Caron Yatagan got cucked (at least from what people say - I only had the new sample) and it is only vaguely animalic. Also Zootopian Civet despite it's name is a warm, balsamic floral fragrance that is only slightly animalic.

It happened to me on eBay with a vintage bottle of Zootopian - faggot took a decant out or was spraying it liberately for couple days in arow to test it and decide that he doesn't like after plenty of not produced anymore juice was gone. He then took photos of the bottle with less juice and opened a case against me that the item was not as described in my auction (obviously because you first used it). Had to refund him money, pay for the postage back despite calling eBay couple times and explaining what has happened as I lost the case. After that I started asking around if I'm a singular case and heard plenty of similar stories of people taking decants out and asking for a refund or stealing a lid etc. Every time it was a lost case for the seller. Also some faggot on a facebook group took a big decant out of my fragrance that I sold on a huge discount to him anyway and wanted refund for the juice missing lol. But I got sorted out this one and he got banned.

Normie frag haul arrived, here's what i think of them

>aqua di gio profumo
Pretty good desu, i don't understand why it gets hate, it's masculine and simple while having a unique complexity to it. However in my experience it turns to cloying trash if you do more than 2 sprays, less is more with that one.

>sauvage
Casual metallic fresh masculine scent, it just works, i can see why it's a mainstream success, 2 sprays are more than enough, any more qualifies you for a pajeet certificate

>code profumo
Cotton candy and suede, lasts forever, i liked it but i see myself getting tired of it fast, you'll probably like it if you like sweet scents

>nautica voyage
Exactly what you expect, simple fresh synthetic. It just works, nothing too flamboyant, nothing bad either.

>dior homme intense
Loved this one, very unique and has something artistic about it, also performance is amazing

>allure homme edition blanche
Lemon and vanilla with some vetiver, i really enjoy it, perfect for hot weather and has a beautiful elegant quality about it. If only it lasted for over 3 hours..

>eau sauvage
6 sprays last for about 4 seconds so unfortunately i didn't get enough time to formulate an opinion

>y edp
Some people like it but to me this smells like an accident happened in the lab and they just kinda said fuck it, maybe one day i will get a stroke and my sense of smell will change and i will be able to appreciate it, however this is not that day

>invictus
Smells like one of those demented telettubie motherfuckers threw up in a perfume bottle.

>dylan blue
Loved it for the first 20-30 minutes but then it turns into a weird body spray type scent that i had to scrub off, if it smelled like the opening all the way through then i would commit to a full bottle

>prada l'homme
Not something i would wear but it smells great, i'd love my house to smell that

And from what I've heard there are durian sugars crystallising in the bottles of SG.

Imagine not actually knowing the chemistry behind perfume. Having shit quality control for the sprayers etc etc. Riding the waves of a couple collections that generates hype and circle jerking. Creating a secondary anonymous brand that gets panned until someone finds out you make it, which then turns into "oh this is just the perfumer's magic!". The circle jerking gets to a point where you use decades old materials that have degraded, but the dickriders still lap it up as "omg so vintage!" (because the best perfumers back then of course totally also used cheaply acquired degraded materials, but you tell them on Instagram that the "vintage treasures" were expensive to get from auctions, despite the fact that a couple of people have pointed out that one of the chemists were dodgy fuckers that had to be dealt with by the U.S. Supreme Court multiple times across decades. You reassure your Instagram community that some nameless lab in Indonesia tests these "vintage treasures" with no further probing)

And on top of this you cheap out on sitehosting, leaving your Adam Ivkin for all to see, until it is pointed out.

In summary, you are definitely an expert perfumer that only uses the best materials! Definitely not an inexperienced businessman that got lucky with a few releases of perfume whose dickriders breeze past any criticism. Oud and Musk will never lose their novelty and is definitely not a coverup for a lack of skill or knowledge at all!

But seriously, I was a fan of this brand at some point, and I did enjoy some of the first four collections. But since then mr Ivkin and his brand have unraveled, and all the marketing and hype has worn off. Many reviewers online are clearly in conflict with themselves and trying to desperately give a positive review, because they are so refined you see, and their golden boy brand can never do no wrong. no sir!

Was it proven anyhow that it's Russian Adam standing behind Anonim? If so then it's turbo cringe given how much effort he put into marketing, branding and even these ridiculous masks send to youtube reviewers. Fucking kek. If that's the case then I reckon his carefully cultivated internet image of a perfume guru who spends 18h days a day distilling rawest and purest ingredients in his lab is also made up.

Yeah I think there are pics of the stuff on the main thread. And you could find who was behind anonim via whois, he used either namecheap/godaddy, or changed to godaddy. At some point someone probably tipped him off that his name and address could be viewable, so you won't find anything now. But yeah the name Adam Ivkin and the Thailand based address was the info for both ALD and Anonim. The fire that sparked the powderkeg about him being behind Anonim was that Brandon guy on Youtube, but I think he just used a service to look it up, then played it up like the "artistry" was the same to look like a super refined dude.

>> No.15619004

>>15618988
Also you could find the name and address for the Bortnikoff dude using the same method, but he probably got tipped off by Adam to get that info protected too. His address was either the same as Adam's or an address that was in the sameish area, interestingly enough the name in the details was "Dmitry Bortnikov" not Bortnikoff. I don't know if it was a spelling error or something?

But yeah its really weird that the addresses are so close. Do they live near each other? Are those addresses for tax reasons?

Who knows. I don't really care at this point. But being able to find that info at some point. them finding out and then covering it up, just smacks on inexperience.
