So I sampled some Profumum Roma:
Sorriso - sweet rum and caramel, but feels like it's lacking in performance. Chergui would be my to-go pick instead of this. 5/10
Alba - biggest disappointment from the samples. Many people said this is the ultimate church smell (I like church scents) - but if that's the case, your churches are p sad. This has nothing on CdG Zagorsk or Avignon. 4/10
Ichnusa - good somewhat bitter fig scent, but hermes un jardin mediterranee is fresher. 6/10
Battio d'Ali - decent fresh sweet scent (idk why this is so rare), bit on feminine side, but can be executed when you are a man. 6/10.

Overall I am bit disappointed with the brand

I tried Prada Luna Rossa Black today and fuck me what a scent. Whatever Prada I had tried before was like some shitty shower gel thing but this had a real sour bitter note in it that was so nice and that I just wanted to keep sniffing and I'm guessing it was Angelica. I hadn't even heard of it before but now I need to look up what other frags have them. shame about the dry down though its just a boring amber, tonka and patchouli mix. Also whats the deal with Extreme? Looks really nice but its discontinued? Might be copping 5ml each of these desu.

Also obligatory whats an apple or mint or violet or combo of these summer scent and does anyone have a Fahrenheit Absolute replacement?

Super based as long as you're late twenties plus and like old school barbershop.

I like all kind of frags, wear a lot of old school (ie quorum, azarro ph) but also like some sweeter and lighter stuff. Out of my rotation, it seems like my missus gravitates towards when I wear unisex stuff like gucci's memoire d'une and fleur de patchouli by jo malone. Redpill me on some unisex stuff but with a bit of that old world vibe. Probably lavender or patch based?

Get reckt'd you dilettante. If you actually read interviews and figured out how perfumers think, you would have a better understanding at their view on fragrances. The analogy of music and fragrances is one way of looking at different "concentrations" of a same fragrance. Fragrance you wear is basically olfactory background music that quietly hums around you and can be detected by others who are interacting with you.

>On another level, one of my creations, Aqua Universalis Forte, was inspired by music. I reworked the original eau de toilette into an eau de parfum, making a parallel between playing the same score on a chamber orchestra or with a symphonic orchestra. Same spirit and feeling, same story but in a louder volume.’ (Francis Kurkdjian)

Alright lads I got into fragrances about a month ago and looking for more recommendations
>started off with Eau Sauvage after taking an interest in classy colognes from the Mad Men era of the 60s
>loved it, decided to dive deeper since all I've been able to smell are disposable surgical masks from the pandemic
>bought Eros based on the notes and popularity, bought Nautica Voyage because #1 on amazon
>found frag generals here, fell in love with encre noire sport off a recommendation
>versace pour homme and eau fraiche didn't impress due to poor performance from high heat where I live
>started essentially blind buying the rest based off notes, then checking reviews, and getting more recommendations for cheapies to broaden my horizons

Alright so now that my gay blog is out of the way, out of all of these Encre Noire Sport, Uomo, Pure Malt, Allure Homme Sport, Duck Black, and of course Eau Sauvage are definitely my top choices. I seem to like fruity or woody scents layered with vanilla or cardamon the most but encre noire sport is just fantastic with how has that strong allusion to a river stream in a forest.

Was recommended Single Malt by Kilian and Baraonda last thread based on Pure Malt. Any other higher end fragrances you guys would recommend I start looking into?

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Absolu is the best AdG. It has a perfect balance of sweet and salty oceanic notes and the performance is exactly what you would want from this sort of fragrance. 1. You don't know what fragrances will add to your look when crafting your look even if you vaguely understand that fragrance is just another accessory like a bracelet or ring. It is olfactory background music that plays around you and is detected by others near you. Fragrance is the final accessory you're missing to really complete your look

The amount you pay for bigger sized bottles is not proportional to the cost of the extra juice you get. You think you're getting a better "deal" but it costs the company the same amount of money to make the 50 ml amount and the 100 ml amount. By encouraging people to buy the 100 ml amount, the company profits more than the 50 ml amount. Small sizes eats into their profits more....but they are great for gifts. People would be more inclined to buy small size bottle as a gift for people than big size.

those itty bitty Acqua di Gio bottles are wack. 50 ml bottles are snice though. It's right around the amount you might actually use if you have a big collection. I've literally never gone through 100 mls of anything

>> No.15592073

>>15592040
It clearly doesn't cost the same amount to produce as they are different amounts. Economics of scale will vastly influence this, but in what world is $75/50ml a better deal than $100/100ml? You buy the smaller size because youre not going to fall for their dirty tricks? They are marking up the smaller size to make a larger size the better deal, since as you say, they cost the same amount to make, but then you're telling me to take the worse deal when you're saying buy the smaller. Liquor stores are the same way, they love when you buy the small size also, more profit.

You save $15 by buying the 50 ml bottle. That $15 can be used for other things. If you buy the 100 ml bottle, that $15 will just be sitting in your bottle as unused juice. Are you literally this dense?

>Health-care experts believe that increases in portion sizes served by food vendors contribute to the obesity epidemic. This paper shows that food vendors can profit handsomely by using super sizing strategies where regular portion sizes are priced sufficiently high to discourage price-conscious consumers from selecting them, and the prices for enlarging food portions are set so low that these customers are tempted to order the larger portion sizes and overeat.

The 50 ml extra juice in the bottle costs the company less than the $15 that they are up-selling you for it. They're making you pay more for juice that doesn't cost them anywhere close to $15 to make, and juice that you won't use anyways.

The dark side - Not really dark but nice. Smells like honey + leather + Iris

Etruscan water - Kinda disappointing. The ambroxan goes really salty and oceanic on my skin after just 1.5 hours.

Under my Skin - I can not stop sniffing the back of my hand like some weirdo. Sweet skin. Like a beautiful woman lying next to you.

The black knight - Made me love bulgarian rose. Somehow others don't get any, but on me it smells like spicy, sweet bulgarian rose.

The lowers tale - Really musky, like straight up sex smell. I dont think I could wear it to any other occasion.

zara is the perfect blend of quality and quantity. they're cheap enough that you can buy a back up bottle of whatever you like, and just quality enough that you can overspray and get a good lifespan out of the fragrance. most zara's have so-so preformance, so you can go nuts on the sprays without them ever really getting cloying, and they have just enough quality ingedients that they never end up smelling cheap at the base. it's strange but i've noticed this with most of their scents. only thing i hate is that if you find something you like pick it up asap, cause that shit'll be dicontinued a week after it's release.

>The bergamot and orange are the radiant ornaments, delicately intertwined with the herbal whisper of green herbs. It is as if a branch of rosemary got caught in the fruit basket, its piney scent adding a rejuvenating element. The sensual touch of musk is an interesting element, considering the essentially “straight out of the shower clean” aura of the composition. However, there is something ethereal and alluring about the fragrance that makes me want to lean in and inhale the scent emanating from the skin.

>The elegant drydown is reminiscent of the bittersweet peach stone, which alternates between milky green almond and lusciously sweet nut. A mere hint of confectioner’s sugar scented with vanilla foils the understated musk of the base. If I am to imagine a fragrance Napoleon would like on Joséphine (a woman of whom he said in his letters, “I must see her and press her to my heart. I love her to the point of madness, and I cannot continue to be separated from her. If she no longer loved me, I would have nothing left to do on earth”), Cologne Blanche would be it, fitting Napoleon’s fastidious cleanliness as well as Josephine’s predilections for exotic musks.

>More commercial perfumes tend to try and be something to everyone. Compared with Bois D’Argent, Dior Homme, a popular men’s fragrance and very similar to Bois D’Argent’s design, can appeal to a wider audience with well-defined notes of vanilla, iris, leather and musk. It has something for everyone. Bois D’Argent provides a much narrower field of vision. Iris and musk compliment the main vanilla accord instead of working independently to create a more one dimensional fragrance than that of multi-faceted Dior Homme. Birch gives the fragrance a subtle woody/leather character but the overall theme is baby powder, milk and honey. Other perfume notes include blanched almond and a transparent vanilla that is perhaps synthetic showing no signs of the scented impurities than can coexist within natural vanilla absolute. This is a linear scent leaving you at the end of a day smelling of white musky vanilla.

Cold floral iris riding atop beautifully natural rose absolute on a dry, earthen vetiver base dusted with rice powder, La Peau Nue is very nostalgic, feminine too. >Named for the chic Saint-Germain-des-Prés of Paris’ Left Bank 6th Arrondissement (Slimane’s favourite part of Paris), Saint-Germain Des-Prés is as elegant as the boutiques and cafés that line its namesake’s streets. The green woodiness of petitgrain is the star here and paired with the sweet brightness of neroli cuts the density of the supporting vanillin-heliotrope accord. Saint-Germain Des-Prés is sparkling and clean in a way that some might call soapy, but it is much more than merely soapy. Notes: neroli, petitgrain, white orris butter, heliotrope, vanilla.

>One of the standouts for me, Dans Paris is about as sophisticated as modern perfumery gets. This is very much a vanilla fragrance, but one no less layered nor nuanced than the mille-feuilles you might find in Paris’ finest pâtisseries. Layered with the decadent vanilla, bergamot lends brightness to the opening, coriander seeds a fresh green spiciness, and laurel blossom a powdery almost caramelised honey character. Slimane calls it “a form of purely French neoclassicism”, and I could not agree more. Notes: bergamot, coriander seed, laurel blossom accord, musk, vanilla.
