So I sampled some Profumum Roma:
Sorriso - sweet rum and caramel, but feels like it's lacking in performance. Chergui would be my to-go pick instead of this. 5/10
Alba - biggest disappointment from the samples. Many people said this is the ultimate church smell (I like church scents) - but if that's the case, your churches are p sad. This has nothing on CdG Zagorsk or Avignon. 4/10
Ichnusa - good somewhat bitter fig scent, but hermes un jardin mediterranee is fresher. 6/10
Battio d'Ali - decent fresh sweet scent (idk why this is so rare), bit on feminine side, but can be executed when you are a man. 6/10.

Overall I am bit disappointed with the brand

I tried Prada Luna Rossa Black today and fuck me what a scent. Whatever Prada I had tried before was like some shitty shower gel thing but this had a real sour bitter note in it that was so nice and that I just wanted to keep sniffing and I'm guessing it was Angelica. I hadn't even heard of it before but now I need to look up what other frags have them. shame about the dry down though its just a boring amber, tonka and patchouli mix. Also whats the deal with Extreme? Looks really nice but its discontinued? Might be copping 5ml each of these desu.

Also obligatory whats an apple or mint or violet or combo of these summer scent and does anyone have a Fahrenheit Absolute replacement?

I like all kind of frags, wear a lot of old school (ie quorum, azarro ph) but also like some sweeter and lighter stuff. Out of my rotation, it seems like my missus gravitates towards when I wear unisex stuff like gucci's memoire d'une and fleur de patchouli by jo malone. The analogy of music and fragrances is one way of looking at different "concentrations" of a same fragrance. Alright lads I got into fragrances about a month ago and looking for more recommendations
>started off with Eau Sauvage after taking an interest in classy colognes from the Mad Men era of the 60s
>loved it, decided to dive deeper since all I've been able to smell are disposable surgical masks from the pandemic

Alright so now that my gay blog is out of the way, out of all of these Encre Noire Sport, Uomo, Pure Malt, Allure Homme Sport, Duck Black, and of course Eau Sauvage are definitely my top choices. I seem to like fruity or woody scents layered with vanilla or cardamon the most but encre noire sport is just fantastic with how has that strong allusion to a river stream in a forest.

Was recommended Single Malt by Kilian and Baraonda last thread based on Pure Malt. Any other higher end fragrances you guys would recommend I start looking into?

Just put on my sample of Monsieur. An immediate blast of incense and a subtle boozy aspect that reminds me a little of CH Men Prive. It also has a green aspect to it, but I don’t recognise it as patchouli even though that’s what’s listed. It smells almost a little piney. I really need to smell patchouli in isolation at some point. I almost feel the opening has a slight medicinal vibe to it.

I can see myself loving this.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Absolu is the best AdG. It has a perfect balance of sweet and salty oceanic notes and the performance is exactly what you would want from this sort of fragrance. I've not smelled the original Invictus Aqua that everyone raves about, but I don't see this as being absurdly similar to the current formulation. Profumo is also pretty snice but Profondo smells like bathroom cleaner. Nice bathroom cleaner, but bathroom cleaner none the less.

The amount you pay for bigger sized bottles is not proportional to the cost of the extra juice you get. You think you're getting a better "deal" but it costs the company the same amount of money to make the 50 ml amount and the 100 ml amount. By encouraging people to buy the 100 ml amount, the company profits more than the 50 ml amount. Small sizes eats into their profits more....but they are great for gifts. People would be more inclined to buy small size bottle as a gift for people than big size.

It clearly doesn't cost the same amount to produce as they are different amounts. Economics of scale will vastly influence this, but in what world is $75/50ml a better deal than $100/100ml? You buy the smaller size because youre not going to fall for their dirty tricks? They are marking up the smaller size to make a larger size the better deal, since as you say, they cost the same amount to make, but then you're telling me to take the worse deal when you're saying buy the smaller. Liquor stores are the same way, they love when you buy the small size also, more profit.

You save $15 by buying the 50 ml bottle. That $15 can be used for other things. If you buy the 100 ml bottle, that $15 will just be sitting in your bottle as unused juice. Are you literally this dense?

The dark side - Not really dark but nice. Smells like honey + leather + Iris

Etruscan water - Kinda disappointing. The ambroxan goes really salty and oceanic on my skin after just 1.5 hours.

Under my Skin - I can not stop sniffing the back of my hand like some weirdo. Sweet skin. Like a beautiful woman lying next to you.

The black knight - Made me love bulgarian rose. Somehow others don't get any, but on me it smells like spicy, sweet bulgarian rose.

The lowers tale - Really musky, like straight up sex smell. I dont think I could wear it to any other occasion.

zara is the perfect blend of quality and quantity. they're cheap enough that you can buy a back up bottle of whatever you like, and just quality enough that you can overspray and get a good lifespan out of the fragrance. most zara's have so-so preformance, so you can go nuts on the sprays without them ever really getting cloying, and they have just enough quality ingedients that they never end up smelling cheap at the base. it's strange but i've noticed this with most of their scents. only thing i hate is that if you find something you like pick it up asap, cause that shit'll be dicontinued a week after it's release.

How would you rank designer houses in terms of prestige? Obviously Chanel and Dior are at the top, although Dior is slipping pretty hard lately. Tom Ford is definitely higher quality in general, but that's kind of half designer half niche in terms of pricing. I'd say Armani is fairly solidly after Dior. After that it's wild west. No idea. Vetiver Extraordinaire today. It doesn’t seem to project at all but it’s very nice. It’s on the sharper side which I don’t like, similar to Encre Noire. It feels more peppery and spicier however, and it’s extremely smooth. I just can’t understand how it feels so timid, like it doesn’t want to leave my skin.

He wood scents by d2 are quite nice
The standard one has is a mossy/aquatic scent with wood notes, rocky Mountain wood is very intense in the woody Department and almost smells like the inside of a whiskey casket.
Both are pretty cheap and it shows. if you put on too much you can smell that its mostly synthetic.
Can still recomend though
