Different strokes for different folks. I can be a night owl myself sometimes, thankfully my body does great with 4-6 hours of sleep. Late for me these days is 0100 though, generally in bed by 1100-1200. Works well for me, my wife gets up at 0500 for work during the week so we're both morning people week or weekend.

Countdown bezels are infinitely more applicable and actually useful on watches than the regular elapsed time bezel.
It's a shame that it's such a niche feature; I'd much prefer it and actually use it compared with the regular kind.

I use it for gaming or cooking. The feature mostly shines whenever I have to time 2 things at once. Like when I'm farming two things in a game or heating up two different things.

I can remember one instance easily but it's easy to forget your second target so the bezel helps.

I wanted to try on this Tudor Black Bay today. I was laughed out of the store, apparently even Tudor has waitlists now. Wtf is going on with the watch world? No one can buy a Rolex anymore so now they all watch the same YouTube videos telling them to buy Tudor instead so they buy them out too. It's really putting me off watches t b h, all the good ones become meme watches for rich people.

I didn't spend the whole day with the watch open trying to regulate it you dingus.

I moved the lever, then waited to measure accuracy, then adjusted it again accordingly. Doing this back and forth allowed me to make the watch much more accurate.
Also I sleept in-between, started yesterday in the afternoon and did my last regulation at about 1 PM today

>So you spent an entire day to save 20 seconds a day.... Seriously?

20 seconds a day is pretty massive, even for a cheap orient, the F6922 movement is more than capable of +/- 1s per day, but employees have to regulate about a dozen watches at a time in the manufacture, so they can't afford to spend so much time per watch to make them accurate, this is why their tolerence is -15/+25, seiko has even looser tolerance values ranging from -35 to +45 s/day despite sharing the same movement parts.

So yes, I did spend "an entire day" to regulate my watch so I can now enjoy having an accurate mechanical watch that I won't have to service in the next five years or more.

20 seconds per day
or 1 minute every three days
or 10 minutes per month

now :
1 second per day
1 minute every two months
6 minutes per year
so yes, that's a massive difference, if you can't understand this, why are you on a watch thread ?

Pic related is the F6922, it's really convenient, push the small lever to make your adjustments.
The big lever underneath is used to correct the beat error, unless you have a timegrapher you should never touch it.

Some movements use screws, some use different kind of levers, but I think pretty much all modern movements can be adjusted to such high tolerences yes.

use a powerful lense to see what you do. Also general rule of thumb : always use a lense, if you can see the lever move, you're overdoing it, unless your watch is minutes too fast or slow per day.

>I'm be more interested to know how long it stays at that level.

Technically it would stay as accurate for life once regulated, but if parts start to wear out, or oil lose it's properties, or if it gets magnetized, then it will lose accuracy, you'd need to service it at this point to regain the original accuracy.
People really underestimate cheap movements, but they're really just "inaccurate" out of the box because of factory tolerances, not because they can't be more accurate.

How much are these blood rolexes going for on the black market? Who buys them, like, a mover obviously, but who are its "end users"? Is there a clientele for blood rolexes in the second/third world or are they used as collateral in criminal dealings? Do they scratch/fake the serials? Do the watches get disassembled by rogue amateur "watchmakers" and sold as parts to unassuming buyers? No... I disagree with you massively.

The countdown bezel only really works to give you a destination time. It is not useful at all for showing you when you started counting down unless you physically remember it.

The classic dive watch 'elapsed time' is far superior in every logical way as it shows you both the starting point and the end point (eg. You want to bake lasagne, all you need is the memory that it takes 40 mins) and you can easily look and see how much time has passed and how much time is left to go.

With countdown timers you have to physically remember the time at the start of the process, it's annoying.

I dunno why Stowas get a bad rep, the movements and parts are made in standardised factories anyway, does it really matter where the factory is physically located? German cars are also made in various parts of the world, no one cares. You have to pay several thousands more to get closer to real in house movements.

Anyway, out of the Flieger brands I personally like the look of Stowa the most and think that authenticity, in this case, is a farce. Even IWC uses modified movements in some of their pilot watches, iirc.

I get wanting the original bauhaus watch but that's the thing, Junkers was really early onto that too. They just didn't slap Marcel Breuer's name directly on the watch the way Junghan did with Max Bill.
And if we're gonna talk heritage, then Junkers dating back to the mid 19th century and being one of the first aeronautic companies in the world is slightly noteworthy.
Just saying, keep in mind that this alternative exists and that it's not necessarily a bad one.

Max Bill and Marcel Breuer (who designed Junkers' first bauhaus-style watches, though not the currently produced version) were pretty much the same age and studied the then brand new Bauhaus Theories under the same teachers. When that style started to make wave in architecture, a lot of other industries started to be interested and hired designers from the same schools and generations. I need parts for the keyless works of a 5246 that had badly rusted ones. Cleaning made it functional but I don't like the rough feel, and the calendar quickset doesn't work well.
Also since I have accumulated several beat up 5606s (get one for parts, get another one to replace the parts I took etc...) I got decent looking non-runner 5606 LM to fit a working movement in if it can't be fixed. Oh, and a 8346 Business-A that I came across randomly and just threw a low bid in. There are plenty of cheap quartz fashion watches, like Michael Kors, MVMT, Daniel Wellington etc. They can look very good, are easy and simple because of the quartz, but also overpriced even though they might cost the same as the two others. Well it turns out that “Arrived at destination country” actually means arrived at a distribution center outside Liege airport, which is definitely not in my country. I have been to Liege and I had to cross a couple of borders to get there.

its a solid entry-tier no frills mechanical
these older seiko5 shields are no longer produced

also, it'll look a lot better out of that stock burlap-canvas strap. Get a $10 leather strap or even a $2 nato and you'll upgrade the look massively.

Thread is almost over but here you go. They are really simple and it's supposed to match with most of the things she wears. I was gonna get one with gold details but she hates gold. Here you go:

I've been lusting over a few Elektronika 5 on ebay. They look like a digital watch but more rugged/rougher than a Casio. Some of them have kinda delicate metal straps, which I would prefer for my lanky wrists.

TL;DR: experience with Elektronika 5 watches?
