UK denizen here, is it fine to wear regimental/repp/school/etc striped ties without being part of the respective organization?

I had previously never heard of the organization roots of striped ties, I thought they were just a stylish design.
Is this an antiquated thing or is it still very much relevant today?

For the record I'm not in any sort of high class society, The only people I know in real life that wear suits couldn't give two shits about how they dress, it's just a uniform to them.

You simp, first of all, that's kinda cringe and usually looks a bit tacky. Secondly, if you're going to wear that tie to the event and it's the only one that you own then it's best if you just go without a tie because this one looks like something that you would get in eBay or Amazon, plus, the colour doesn't really compliment the suit itself. Just to let you know, if that's how your suit looks like, then it's really ugly.

The issue I is that the blazer is big and my trousers are not wide enough (I reckon I need 21cm openings) to match it. Also phone pics criminally distort image when taken close to a mirror like that. Here's a pic taken from a distance of the same jacket (ignore the boat shoes). It's definitely a bit long but with patch pockets I wouldn't dare get them shortened.

Association with the fedora part of the internet is a magnet for trolls and the appeal of old style that is not commonly seen anymore except for actual larpers (we're talking very literal larpers who actively larp and enjoy the roleplay aspect more than the clothes). Plus it continue to evolve so it's easy to miss the look because of the details so spergs treat it as antique collecting and go crazy about period details. Should say that a striped tie isn't necessarily a regimental tie. There are way more colour combinations than regiments. Anyway I've worked at expensive private schools for most of my adult life (as a school teacher) and I have a lot of ties. Certainly there are military families in my current school but no-one has ever said anything. Here's what I wore today. How the am I supposed to know if this belongs to a regiment? Thanks. Materials aren't necessarily poor quality. Polyester has its uses (in this case allowing you to machinewash and even IRON your jacket) however it does make me sweat. Cold days only i think.

That's a great price range. Shop around on Loakes, Meermin and Morjas. They all have derbies and bluchers right around your pricepoint and are miles ahead in terms of quality from stuff like Aldo or Cole Haans.
