My thought process was I wanted sapphire (im kinda clumsy so scratch prone) and since it's my first time I didn't want to risk being tacky/ shelling out too much money in a field im inexperienced in. I looked at citizen, orient, and seiko and the stuff i liked was either outside my budget range, not sapphire, or too cluttered for my taste.and tissot has a good rep and history so i was like w.e. fuck it. but yeah thx for the advice, i'll just see how this goes and buy another in a few months once im willing to fork out more cash

It's a functional swiss watch from an established brand with modern minimalist aesthetics made for normal people with normal sized wrists that most people will find non-offensive or outright nice. It's essentially a well made contemporary fashion watch from a traditional swiss brand that's a bit overpriced as all fashion watches are. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, it gives the impression of a young guy who has his shit together.
/wt/ is just obsessed with cheap mechanical watches by unheard of brands from the darkest corners of the Earth (Belarus, India, "vintage" pieces from Communist Romania, etc) and displays pathological hatred towards everything Swiss (known as "mountain jews" in /wt/speak/) that costs less than $6k used.
I hope you'll enjoy your watch, get into watches, learn about watches and buy a quality mechanical piece when you've done your homework and you can afford to do so. Until then it will serve you faithfully.

Do you guys have your watches insured or do luxury brands have that included in their purchase?

There's so much marketing for luxury watches that has men taking them to exotic locations and going up mountains or into the rain forest or into villages in Uganda or India.

1) Would the watch survive a trip like this? Say it was a Rolex Explorer, as the name implies.
2) What happens if it's stolen? You're just out 10k?
3) Do people actually take their watches on excursions like this?

I ask because I travel for work. And I'll sometimes be posted in remote locations or in less economically developed countries. I'd love to bring my watches and use them as "intended", but I can't help but worry about them.

>Marketing
Ya, clearly I fell for the marketing. But at the same time, when I go around the world I have to bring my camera gear with me. My gear, in total is worth more than a Rolex Explorer, by quite a lot. But that shit is insured and comes with Professional Servicing and anywhere in the world replacement in the event of damage or theft.

Absolutely, "expedition watches" appeared in the 1950's and were mid-range watches in barely waterproof regular two-piece steel cases, their run-of-the-mill 15 to 17 jewels movements fitted with primitive anti-shock technology by today's standards. Herzog climbed the Annapurna wearing a Lip Himalaya, Hillary climbed the Everest wearing a Smiths Deluxe, the members of Admiral Byrd's expedition worn Nivada Antarctics. Even ordinary modern mid-range watches use more advanced technology, materials and lubrication than that and are sturdy enough mechanically to take the challenge.

Thoughts are a lot of people think the SARX is overrated, mainly due to previous SARB pricing since they are arguably in the same grade of quality. The finishing on the SARX035 does look substantially better and more refined than the SARBs in my book. Between the detailed finish, crystal upgrade and better bracelet, it makes sense to see it cost more. The movement is very mediocre for its class, though common grade in the 500 to 1000 dollar range. End of the day it seems like a watch for people who are willing to sacrifice movement grade for luxury grade case and finish.

I know about this but as other anon said, i don't think that it is regulation fault. Eh, it's kinda hard to tell but dial down position seems to be the worst. On the side or dial up seems fine as i can tell but the end result is the same.

Didn't say it was great bang for buck, but if the buyer REALLY wants it, anything under $500 can be justified if it will bring happiness and get decades of wear. Alternatively he buys something else for less and finds himself wishing he was wearing the 007 every time he looks at his wrist. What's the price on that level of eternal disappointment?

no, you troglodyte. there's a reason that those watches use those style elements, and that's because they put actual thought into their implementation and design.
if you took random elements from 5 different sportscars, you won't get something cohesive and attractive. you'd get the car version of this watch.

it's clear they put no thought into the design when you look at the bezel. look how lazy that thing is. their whole design philosophy is "what can we yoink from better designs?"

The seething of jelly söykos is always entertaining. I mean, i would not pay for any swiss luxury watch. But the hate for tudor is always based on dumbass reasons. Like where people pretend that THEY would have never bought one and rather go for every other model for that price or pay 1K more for another watch.

Have these tards ever considered that the guy who buys tudor actually really likes tudor and their design and everything else? And that the guy would not like any other watch, because it does not look like the one he really likes.
