Does anyone else go anosmic to Azzaro PH really quickly? I know longevity isn’t what it was in the 80’s but I refuse to believe it’s 45 minutes, and I can always smell the base on myself the next morning. I have the pic related refillable bottle formulation.

Superior in what? Being a better "date night" or comlpiment bomb fragrance or being subjectively (or even objectively) better than it?
If you want compliments literally just stick with Sauvage/CDNIM/Eros/Ultra Male/Invictus/any fragrance with massive projection. What gets you the compliments is the combination of a decent scent with an obnoxiously big projection.
As to being superior in strictu sensu, I would point out Zadig & Voltair This is Him, which is a much more interesting spicy oriental fragrance (although an outlier of this genre, as it is sweet-milky-sandalwoody) that is slightly cheaper than the one. If I were to pick a designer for "date night", it would be either this or boss bottled if I feel like smelling like cardboard. Niche is much better for this purpose, though.

Wew. Just find one or two frags easy and versatile that you like to begin developing you nose and buy them slowly, mainly through decants. It gets a point that the main reason we buy decants is not to save money but to save space, so keep that in mind.
If you do want to go all in, Tom Ford makes good (and overpriced) fragrances that will please both the normies and the grognards.

I think a lot of fragrance hobbyists are contrarian and like mad shit that smells like the holocaust (as do I, not a knock). Aventus is super popular and not very challenging so it's perceived as a 'casual' frag.

I honestly think Creed’s shit quality control is a factor. I know it’s majorly hyped but because it’s notorious for varying wildly between batches it means that not only may people have different experiences but combine that with the amount of clones that try to emulate specific batches it’s a shitshow.

I own it, I really like it. I only paid £120 for 50ml (partially used from a friend) and I don’t think it’s worth full price. It’s really nice, but overpriced.

M8, we shit on people for wearing clones constantly. It’s tacky poorfag behavior. I just sprayed on Antaeus for the first time from a sample I bought. I loved it as soon as I smelled it. But now, 5 minutes later, it's different. I don't think it's nose blindness. I think that it was just the jarring effect of smelling something that you love instantly but then realizing what other people mean when they say that it has been destroyed. It's sort of like the "DNA" (I don't like that word) is great, but the ratios and quality aren't there anymore. However, I do feel like I remember reading big-time Antaeus fans saying that recently the perfume has been reformulated and is now sort of close to its former quality. No idea how old the bottle I got my sample from is though.

I mean, there isn’t really any actual evidence there. It’s pretty much just “the juice is a different color and my mum and I thought it smelled different”. Not necessarily saying he’s wrong, though I have a recent bottle from luckyscent that’s dark orange and smells just like older bottles I’ve had, he just doesn’t really prove his argument very well.

Ok Chypre battle I've got 4 different samples on right now.

Mousse Illuminee - Too sweet for what it is
Chypre Palatin - Considering a bottle, but also a little sweet for me (for this style of perfume)
Diaghilev - Amazing, but way too expensive and it really can't be worn in a casual setting
Chypre Siam - Delicious, inexpensive, easy to wear, unbelievable nuclear performance from the cancerous outlawed synthetic musks, just solid all the way around

Chypre Siam is the winner.

Fourth alphabetically in the Zoologist line, and thus my fourth review, is Camel.
Camel is a warm and inviting entry with gentle spices and resins to greet you. Dates and figs mixed with other dried fruits sneak in there, but I didn't find it prominent. Truthfully I didn't feel much was prominent. It's a balanced, but perhaps uninspiring scent. I don't claim to have a wide knowledge of accords and notes, but I couldn't detect much if what is listed on the Fragrantica wiki. Myrhh, frankincense, civet. All of these were lost on me. I will need to revisit this later when I have a better understanding of incence and the like.
Unfortunately, to top it all off, I found the performance poor and its duration short. There was something there, but it was so faint. It just smelled like me. If you were to describe the notes to me, I would have told you before trying it I would love it. I'm very disappointed that I do not. If the four I've sampled alphabetically from the line, this is easily my least favorite.
As a while though, I have been enjoying the hell out of wearing these and authoring little write ups.
I've been trying to force myself to write my thoughts before trying a new one. I wasn't exactly inspired to write this and wanted more time to reflect and maybe sense something I didn't the first five times, but even more so I wanted to continue on the series.

Camel isn’t my favorite Zootopian either. I feel that Serge Lutens Arabie does what camel was trying to do much better. Much richer, spicier, and stickier. Really does smell like spiced dates and dried fruit. Camel is just too restrained. If you’re gonna do a middle eastern spice market sort of scent, you gotta go really big with it.
