I've tried jubi, lyric, and reflection. Reflection is the safest but not all that unique.
Lyric starts peppery to my nose, and dries down to a really nice rose soap. Might get myself a 5 or 10 ml decant.
Jubi opens up with a beautiful chocolatey berry smell. Dries down to incense and wood. I own a bottle of this.

Well I've only sampled Reflection and as "clean" as it is its just a version of Le Male my nose can handle, over some cheap fuccboi blast of low quality lavender/mint.
I think I'll try Oud Palao instead of Tam Dao. If anything I need to try more Oud because as much as I like Boss Bottled Oud (my only foray into oud scents) the apple against the medicinal oud opening is not that nice...

Got my Lulua samples. Got a free eldo's She Was an Anomaly, which is very subtle violet, powdery, almost smells like a lipstick. My first thought was that i'd wear it if i was a woman. Doesn't seem to last tho, but apparently it's packed with iso-e super and i could get nose blind to it
Sprayed Floriental on my other wrist and it's the same as decant i got from the guy i was posting about earlier, so turns out i got only a fake eau sauvage parfum. Woody with some spices to it, with some sweetness in the background. My first thought was that it's very close to CH Men Prive, a bit more woody and drier than it, but still similiar. Maybe i'm a noselet, but it was my first thought.

What do you guys think of this? I just received a new batch of samples, and smelling the "sensational" Aventus for the first time proved to be an incredible disappointment. This limey boy made up for it, though, even though it classifies as a cheap buy. I received multiple compliments from the same person over the span of an hour or two. It's a massive dose of fresh lime up top with basically the same vetiver note as the one in Guerlain vetiver.

I think people just have trouble coming to terms with the idea that this "medium" doesn't really get to have classics in the way that others do. Neuromancer, Citizen Kane, the Mona Lisa, Beethoven's 9th, etc., aren't replaced with altered copies every three years. They just remain in their old forms. It's extra problematic because we often rely on lists of classics to tell us what's worth investigating, with the usual idea being that if something is still regarded highly many years on, there's probably something to it.

HdP has some quality stuff, it might be worth getting their whole sample kit, which is pretty cheap. MEMO's best frag is supposed to be Winter Palace, try to get it next time if you like the 2 you got. I actually tried the parfum version at a local mall before all this pandemic shit flared up and I was surprised how much I liked it despite hating the etd and somewhat liking the edp. It opens up similar to the edp but the drydown is very different. Smoky, incensey, and it's rounded out nearly spotless. I would never buy it at the price it is but it was a nice surprise.

Just get 5-10ml decants of things you want to buy. At this point there is literally no reason of getting full bottles as you evidently aren't going to have your signature scents. If you swapped those bottles for 5ml decants, it would still last you a few years. These are great recommendations as far as designer perfumes go. If you want to get into niche stuff (which you can, for the price range posted) then your only option is to sample a ton, since the niche world is so vast. I suggest you start by getting a few sample packs from different houses. And also check out the Chanel Exclusif and Dior Collection Privee, it's the fancy line of those brands, not available everywhere but they're within your price range and definitely worth it. Also check out Tom Ford Private Blend, they're not my favorite house but they have a huge selection, so by trying them out you'll easily find what you enjoy or not, and get a sense of where to go from there.

(1) They seemed like the safest recommendations. It's not that I think they smell great, but rather that I think they're passable and it's clear that lots of people like them.
(2) I don't have much experience with the 100-200 euro price range. It's kind of an awkward middle ground, as far as I can tell, and, as I said, I'm not going to tell him to smell something I haven't personally smelled.
