What product do you guys use to slick hair back? I have very straight asianlike hair and the pomade I use is not holding for too long.

aw shit I was going for this with my quarantine hair. Didn't want it slicked this hard though more like just pushed back like the aquaman guy when his hair was shorter. Noticing now that his sideburns aren't short but long and pushed behind his ears. I thought they were short and kept them trimmed. FUG.

no wait nevermind I can't still tuck. I'm a tucker. Also I've used product from two different brands with one just magically evaporating out of my hair within 10 minutes. Could be shit brand or just need to get industrial oil based stuff idk man nobody here has a job cutting hair.

bump

Store bought pomades and gels are shit. You have to find niche companies online that sell pomade with good hold.

Personal faves are Nostalgic Grooming, Shear Revival, and Flagship Pomade

I hear good things about O'Douds and Firsthand Supply too. There's more I can't name off the top of my head

I have the same problem (I´m Mexican) is not the product is the lenght of the hair(The longer the easiest pomade works), the next best thing would be gel but that thing is horrible.

You are probably either applying it dry, not spreading it through the hair or using a product with too much hold for your hair.

There's an asian dude who posts a lot of pomade reviews/hair tutorials on youtube, maybe you have similar hair: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcjcb59SRaKZjaenNYFa0Aw

>pat your hair down with a towel, but leave it a little wet.
>what you want is to capsulate the moisture inside the hair, you do this with hair ol
>jojoba oil is fine for this
>now let it air dry
>get dressed and do the rest of your routine while waiting
>you'll need a flat hairbrush, a beeswax based pomade and an ionic hairdryer
>warm the wax in your hands before applying it in your hair, try to get a ruff look of what you want to end up with
>now set the ionic hairdryer to medium (not hot or cold air), brush halfway through your hair and hold it there
>hold the hairdryer so the wax will shape the hair to that position

Thanks for the tutorial. Instead of jojoba oil can I use fish oil?

Alternatively use a blowdryer to dry hair and dry it in a position that you would like it to be. Use cold air to lock it in place. Then use minimal product for finishing touches

>mfw another guy posts about pomade not holding

it's not supposed to. pomade is weak hold, high shine, staying soft and pliable through the day.

What do you recommend then

I have curly hair too anon, I would suggest hair creme and a hairband, keeps my hair flat for the whole day

>> No.15342367

If you want the more natural look of pomade with the stronger hold of gel, you should try combining pomade and hairspray. After you style your hair with the pomade, give it a quick mist of hairspray and it creates a unique bond.
