Do it! And if you ever get the opportunity to get Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012, don't hesitate. It's my favorite of all time and it completely mogs all other myrrh perfumes I've tried.

>>15333356
Cologne is great, but it's not really similar to ES in basically any way. A LOT of grapefruit and bergamot, it's so fresh and almost feels like an Atelier Cologne frag but lasts a bit better. It's great for spraying a lot during hot summer days

>> No.15333447

>>15333415
Never ever blind buy. Spend a few dollars on a decant or just test it in store, but don't buy fully blind. Also, why get a clone? It's not that expensive in the first place. Please take your time to decide if you really need both.

>>15333417
Floriental is snice. I tested it in store and it was good, but probably need a decant to really appreciate it.
Amazingreen is interesting and definitely a unique kind of "green", can't really imagine a lot of people would want to wear it on themselves though. Personally I got a 5ml.
Incenses are solid and classics at this point.
CdG 2 is good if you're an artsy type, definitely unlike anything else.
I am a big fan of Wonderwood, it's a dumb reach for me in cold weather (in the best way), such a comforting scent. Considering getting a bottle this autumn.
Overall great picks anon, hope you enjoy them, don't forget to post.

>>15333420
I adore Cologne so much. You can practically bathe in it and it's still nice. Got a backup bottle. I feel like it is underappreciated here quite a bit (compared to Parfum), that's why I asked for your opinion.

Where is L'HOMME INFINITE poster? I just wanna argue that Hommage a l'homme is better. I thought I would get both but after trying Fahrenheit today again I don't think I will. Fahrenheit annoyed me that its dirtiness was restrained. I get that its the point but I wish it didn't hold itself back. Hommage a l'homme doesn't restrain its classiness. It knows what it is. Fahrenheit is shying away from what it wants to be.

But anyway blog post, I finally tried a heap of niches today. Finally smelled Grand Soir and Baccarat Rouge. Yeah that was some good shit. I'm too much of a noselet to comprehend what was going on but fuck it was good. Tried a bunch of CdGs. Tried Musc Ravageur and some other Frederic Malle. Again so good but at this point my nose was getting fatigued. I wanted to try some Serge Lutens but my nose was gone.
>>15333417
I tried most of these in store today. Floriental and Amazingreen were the coolest. I wasn't a fan of 2Man but everyone else likes it. I think Wonderwood is mediocre desu but I get the appeal. It's light and airy and I would've personally preferred it to be heavier. You missed Black, my friend called it generic but then I asked what else is out there like it and he couldn't tell me. Black gave me a HOOOOOOHH moment. I got a sample of it and can't wait to wear it tomorrow. Of course liking Black depends on how much you like Black Pepper. The only comparison I can think of is the discontinued Marc Jacobs Bang, theres nothing else with this much of a pepper hit. And it is quite a dark perfume so theres that too its probably the darkest thing I've smelled.

Sorry didn't see your post brother. Fahrenheit to me isn't about the dirtiness. It's about that vaporous quasi-soapy oiliness. It changes every time I wear it. For me it's incredibly evocative of a fever dream type of summer setting. Insects chirping violently around you, freshly cut grass mingling with the scent of petroleum and laundered shirts during a brown-out caused by a heat wave. There's truly nothing else like it. Recent bottles (2017-current) captures the vibe of the original almost perfectly, but you really need to do a full wearing (like 4-5 sprays) of a vintage to grasp the whole thing. So many unprecedented notes like chamomile, dusty nutmeg, and violet leaf (methyl octine carbonate) swirl around to form that crass 80s hairy chested soapiness yet like I said it's not a soapy fragrance, at least for the most part.

For me right now though it's Cool Water

There's so many cool things we could do. If we can scrape fragrantica's content (the reviews for each frag), then we could do something similar to Latent Semantic Analysis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latent_semantic_analysis, basically a fancier word cloud) for each of them. This would include notes (vetiver), accords (plum) but also other associations (summer breeze, mommy's fur coat). Then we could make these searchable.

We could also implement some similarity rating algorithms and show how closely two or more frags are associated, or k-means clustering, all kinds of cool data analysis stuff. I'm totally in for doing something awesome.

I also want:

Like incense and """gothic""" shit. Enjoy balsamic scents, opoponax, wormwood. Also really like neroli, but I've pretty much found the perfect one for myself, still I want to discover something new and every single one gets compared to Neroli Portofino, think it's high time I test that.

Oud Wood is rated very high overall and I want to test more woody comfy scents, e.g. I really enjoy Wonderwood.
Noir de Noir was described as "gothic" so that got me somewhat interested. This one is probably gonna wait since there are no 5ml decants available rn, which is my preferred size.

Guerlain's golden bottles look very promising, there's incense and other kinda resinous notes.
Homme is just cheap and I want to check it out. Wouldn't mind getting a good mint scent, but I'm yet to find one. That, and I trust in Guerlain quality.

Creed Viking was mentioned here and I can get it pretty cheap. Don't own any of Creed's shit yet - I had an opportunity to test most of them in a store and was unimpressed (other that Vetiver Original, but the price tag is still outrageous and I already have 300ml of Mugler Cologne goodness). Though I was pretty fatigued by that point so...

Forgot to mention that I also want to get Baudelaire. I have a 2ml decant which is half-empty, but want another 5ml. I like the incense + leather combo, still not gonna get a full bottle though.

Jeanne en Provence Néroli Intense. This is a precious gem.

I get decants from a local shop, not sure they operate in other cities, let alone countries.

Oud wood is definitely worth sampling, safe scent but smells amazing
NdN is worth trying though I wasn't that impressed by it (I'm a "gothic" lover too)
I think Neroli Portofino is super overpriced and overrated, on me it lasts seriously maybe an hour and smells no different from most Neroli offerings. I would say try it in a store and see if it's worth
Haven't tried those guerlains but guerlain has almost never failed in at least being interesting, worth if you get it for good price
Haven't tried Viking but it's on my list too

Most of the decants I mentioned before I'm probably going to order this week. Will post about Guerlains and maybe others if I have something to say about them.

Got some other decants coming, namely
Amouage Dia
Serge Lutens L'innommable
Van Cleef & Arpels Moonlight Patchouli
Jovoy La Liturgie Des Heures
YSL Saharienne (new)

and finally
Encens Et Lavande
which is fucking great and I can recommend it if you enjoy gothic. Same as with Baudelaire, I have a 2ml, but it's running out. Not sure about the full bottle, but damn I want to appreciate it some more.

Anons, let me know if you are interested in hot takes on any of those and I'm gonna post once I get them.

Ensens et Lavande - might just be my nose, but it's pretty gothic for me. Very high quality lavender & incense.

LM Kingdom of Dreams - literally an orthodox church. I know that people always describe incense frags as "smelling like a church" and it's always nowhere near. This one though, I was quite shocked. I've been in a few and this is VERY close at least. Debatable if it's wearable at all, but after a few hours it becomes pretty pleasant even to normies. Personally I like to wear it from time to time.

De Profundis - Chrysanthemum-centric and pretty green, it still has incense in its base. Hard to describe, but I'd say it's quite gothic.
