they kinda just look like a vans ripoff with slight manlet soles. I like it. the white laces are a huge upgrade compared to the black laces on their website.
are these high build quality? in this 6 year old article from when they first blew up they claim to have "more substantial" soles like retro converse and vans from the 70s. my biggest gripe with vans is their weak sole. do their shoes' soles (still) feel sturdy or did they abandon their "philosophy" for higher profits like most brands do as they become bigger and older? https://www.businessoffashion.com/articles/intelligence/inside-eytys-explosion

#1 are eytys, a shitty overpriced "luxury" brand that rips off other brands originals, in this case Vans Authentics

I've got some angels from last season and spiders from years ago and the quality is great and comparable between both.

Vans aren't the only brand to make a canvas shoe. What other models would you try to claim as ripoffs?

thx, saved them to my list of items I'm looking to buy in the near future

vans, vans, vans, dr.marteens, buffalo, stan smith, hogan, karhu, the list goes on.
quality is good but that's just about it

Glad to help anon.

I meant eytys models and what you'd consider them rip-offs of. Like I wouldn't call the Phoenix a doc's ripoff just because they're both derbies or Jet a kahru ripoff because they're both retro runners.
Sure they take a lot of inspiration from trends and historical footwear but that's what fashion is. I think their design team does a much better job at reinterpreting their influences than shit like zara or h&m which I'd consider proper ripoffs.

what do you mean by quality is good?

desu i don't even know if eytys ever got an original model to claim their own idea but i get what you mean about zara and h&m and true ripoffs
>that's what fashion is
yeah, sadly that's true even though i always thought that fashion was about originality and creativity instead of "re-interpreting", now that it's been over 4 years for me working in this sector i can say without a doubt that fashion, most of the time, is not the case

>>15266225
i mean that they are hard and heavy as hell, every part of the shoe (rubber, canvas, shoelaces) is made with quality fabrics, sewing is on point and every pair is potentially timeless
>source
i used to sell them

good to hear,
i got a pair of their canvas ones a couple years back during sale season and they have this horrendous crease from the tip of the toe to the laces, so i've been cautious about getting any of their other models

Yeah I think we're just coming at it from different perspectives but I can understand your frustration. Do you have any examples of what you'd consider fresh shoes, if there's anything that ticks that box for you, from the last 5-10 years?
