as long as the design isnt overtly feminine i dont see why not, for example some guys wear baby G

the thing is many(most?) ladies watches have very slim lug width and straps that taper too much so you'd probably need to swap it out for a more rugged manlier strap

luck of the draw.

i had bought a $4 quartz and it didnt even last a day, the second hand would stop after few hours and then it finally jammed at the 10oclock position

but maybe i got a bad one? so many reviews cant be wrong right?...and AE is pretty good by those

but dont expect it to look good. I think there is a lower threshold for chinese watches, maybe at "$10" it'll be "usable" at least, but at $4 I got an extremely cheap looking toy

When the RO first came out, people smiled at it and said "that's nice" and then went around the corner, laughed, and said AP was going to be bankrupt in a year. It actually took something like a decade to sell out of the first production run and nobody liked it. It only became popular after a ton of celebrity influencer memeing.
The watch is a total fucking mess. People whine about the font of numbers on a bezel because it's "too dated" but then suck the dick of the RO which is the most 70s watch every created. The design is confused with a lot of elements that might work well but are hideous smashed together. The design is confused. It has very masculine design characteristics but then is obscenely rounded all over the place. The brushing, while very well executed, is extremely boring when slavshit watches do radiating brushing.
Rumors are that Genta was drunk and not trying hard when he made it, and I believe it.

>>What's the best tacticool G-Shock (square)
You've got a choice between the 5600 and 5610 lines, basically. The 5600s are slightly bigger, and also include models like the GW-5000 which comes with a steel case instead of resin as well as a screwdown caseback.

Note that some "5600s" like the S5600 are actually 5610s, and vice versa. The S5600 is pretty nice, it's the only one with a titanium caseback and buttons if you want the lightest model.

And then there are a few outliers like the GWX-5600 that comes with a moon/tide display, and a 3 letter day.

That bracelet shit you're talking about sounds like the B5600 series, you can only get the combi bracelet if you buy the positive display model. Honestly, positive displays are just way better. Negative might look cool at first, but readability really suffers in low light conditions. We're at the point where most of the G-shock range is switching over to the cancerous bluetooth shit, and I doubt we'll see another atomic release without it because zoomers all want watches that connect to their phones.

Bear in mind that you can get some pretty nice full metal straps and bezels off aliexpress for most of the squares for pretty cheap, you can get a stainless steel strap for like 30 bucks while the combi strap made of resin costs 80 by itself.

Get the 5000-1jf then buy a titanium bracelet and bezel kit form AliExpress or your chink retailer of choice. The bezel won't fit on the 5000 series but the bracelet will and it's far superior to every other option. The combi-bracelet from casio is a shit meme that people loved because it was slightly better than a cheap rezin strap. Now that chink titanium bracelets are readily available for about $50 absolutely no-one will care about the plastic combi-bracelets in a few months.
The 5000-1jf will get you a positive display atomic time and solar and a real metal case under the rezin bezel.
Alternatively you can get the cheapest 5610 series with the same bezel/bracelet kit and it will have the same features but lack the internal metal case.

So let's talk about boomer watches. These are watches that are unassailable from a mechanical or finishing standpoint, that contain dozens of increasingly over to top complications. Yet their proportions are terrible. They have the dimensions of a sports watch in what looks like an oversized dress watch case. They seem to only exist to sell to a market of rich guys who consider themselves really into watches, but that don't want to follow the steel sports watch trend. The perfect example of this style of watch is A. LANGE & SOHNE. This watch is objectively ugly and at 42mm it's really only at home on a fat mans wrist.

Here is another one, this from Patek. 44mm and listed at a quarter of a million dollars. The case isn't quite as inelegant as the A. LANGE & SOHNES but it's not a very high bar.

The 5610 is objectively a better watch when it comes to functionality so it depends on if you want to get into watches or just want a functional practical timepiece. If you like digital, the 5610 is about as good as it gets. If you prefer analogue, you can get something like the Lineage line or similar multi band 6 tough solar with nice features like sapphire and titanium for a little more.

No, one thing you can do is buy a new movement and dump the old one. But chronographs tend to be more expensive to service, and it isn't a "common" one for people to look at. To get a good price on actual service is to find someone that knows the basic fundamentals (light oil for metal on metal, slightly heavier oil for metal on ruby) instead of rote memory about how to service a movement, and happens to be doing it somewhat for fun.

I'm pretty new to mechanical watches and I'm wondering, is it common knowledge that waving a watch back and forth quickly with the dial facing up causes it to run faster? I used this method to correct my watch +13 sec last night after learning that. I knew about variations in timekeeping caused by resting the watch in different positions, but not that. I now understand the concept of how it works by making the balance swing faster or whatever, but still, pretty cool.

Question is, does it put too much stress on the movement to do that even if I'm not shaking it back and forth very hard?

Yo sacrifice some things to obtain others.People sacrifice things all the time. You really like watches, then you sacrifice stuff you like less.If you buy a watch the watch it's gonna be with you for years, if you buy cofee, it lasts a couple of minutes, if you go to some fancy vacation, the experience will last only some days and the rest will be memories that will fade in the future. Hey tiny wrist fags. I just found out that casio makes a bunch of JDM baby g squares with tough solar and atomic time setting.
BGD-5000 series.

Is 2mm seriously worth having "baby-g" on your wrist? Just get a better strap.

Casio g-shock 5610 series, comes with a resin strap but you can get adaptors and put a nylon strap on it for $20 or so if you really want one.
You can get them for about $85-$95 on Amazon or eBay.
Solar battery charging, atomic time setting so it stays accurate, countdown timer alarms etc.
If you don't mind getting one that's a little bigger you can get a mudman which also has a compass and thermometer but looses the atomic time setting.

every previous reply is simultaneously correct. personally for a quartz beater you get better performance from a timex weekender which is available in mostly whatever style you want for $30-50.
seriously, google image "timex weekender" and scroll away, click what you like, get the ref number, google shopping the number.

my problem with your pic is it's probably overpriced, but worse, black dial and case with a light brown strap? and this is a "fashion" brand? but anyway straps are cheap and easy to change.

I have submerged and showered with my Weekender too many times to count over many years, and it's rated (probably correctly) to only 30m.

I’d recommend G-Shock. Either the GW-M5610 or if you want something sportier, the GW6900
