I made the mistake of paying full price. Their OCBDs are meant to be worn casually. It’d be embarrassing seeing someone pairing it up with a sports jacket/blazer bc of the shit collars. The quality is bad. Their “classic fit” is made for men with pear shaped bodies. They’re so tight around the shoulders and lats. I don’t want to size up bc then I’d have to alter it. Why do that when I can just buy something made for me. I ended up giving them to my youngest sibling. Shame on them. I liked their colored pony logo.

Anyone shop from eBay or Thrift? How was your experience with how the clothes turned out. Is it worth it rather than buying retail?

I'm starting buy pre-owned from eBay. I look for high quality at a lesser expense. I started to do so because Men's fashion in big branded stores like Macy's are very expensive or crap quality.

I've always been having a prep aesthetic though now I'm fully committing to it.

Pic-related is a shirt I'm going to buy for under $20, 100% cotton.

You know as outlandish as they may look I can see them being worn, but only in summer and prefferably on vacation. Also don't ever think about it if yohr clothes don't fit you or look too modern. thrift is good since you can try things on but mostly the sizes are limited to boomer sizes especially for more formal stuff

so if you are smol and have a 33 inch chest like me then be prepared to bitterly have to pass up so many good blazers because they are 42R

ebay is definitely worth it if you're a) very patient, b) autistic about knowing your measurements and finding/getting measurements for any item you're looking at, and c) have a bit of luck about you. it's mainly just a time and numbers game desu, you can find gems if you put in the work. doubly so if you're a "normal" size, like between 38-42 chest, thrift stores seem to be full of very large and very small sizes.

Should I get pre-rolled cuffs on my chinos? I feel that they bring a bit of detail to the bottom of the outfit which can be quite interesting. I have ordered a navy and a khaki pair.
Also, which is the ideal lapelle size for a sports coat? I am torn between 7 and 8 centimeters.
Also, I am a bit torn on the matter of lining. The fabric is a tropical wool, 120gr, so it needs a lining to keep its shape. Obviously I want something cool. Polyester is obviously out, and the tailor would hit me if I suggested it anyways. The tailor suggested acetate, as silk is too warm and cotton too wrinkly. How does viscose/rayon hold up against acetate? Any other natural lining that helps the jacket keep its shape?

That's not a repp tie, that's a British regimental tie and old upper- and even middle-class Brits still get extremely salty if you wear one whose regiment you didn't belong to. American repp ties are often just cut on the opposite bias (aligning the diagonal stripes the other way) from the same silk as those regimental ties, made by the same British mills, and wearing them is probably the archetypical example of differing standards, something highly preppy that British trad regards as gauche.

I'll take this seriously for a moment

The reason this doesn't work is the coat looks way too larpy, way too over the top with the shade of blue and the gold buttons

If the blue were a darker navy (or black), you replaced the gold buttons with black/brown horn, and wore it with a completely different set of clothes, it might work (in a pretentious philosophy student sort of way). Basically this coat has nothing whatsoever to do with /tip/

As it is, it doesn't work at all, particularly with tan cords (?) and that terrible scarf. At least it fits well I suppose, not that that matters too much

If you really want to wear this coat, replace the buttons with dark horn to tone down the nautical/military tones a bit, wear it with different clothes, and don't wear it in that weird way i.e. undo a couple of the buttons or wear it open, turn the collar up, don't wear that dreadful scarf with it, maybe a pure navy/charcoal/black cashmere or subdued tartan might work better

Sorry to break it to you but the polo colour is shit, your first polo should be white, navy or grey. Only after you go these can you go after greens, yellows reds etc. Get a higher rise trousers, since not only do they look better but they're also more comfortable plus get a straight cut not a slim cut, if you want you can also get a taper. Change your belt to a needle point, braided or elastic belt if you're on a budget. So get a white polo which isn't too slim but not baggy (and tuck it in fully), Khalid chinos (not shorts, they're used for the beach), a braided belt matching the leather of your shoes, and a pair of boat shoes in a brown. Post an update too!
