Grand Soir is an extremely comfy scent, probs gonna get a bottle since I wastefully shattered the vial I had of it.

BR540 is exactly like the memepost describes it at first, purely medicinal and sterile, exactly what a dentist’s place of profession smells like. BR540 gets incredibly snice on the drydown though I do have to admit, but the top accord makes it wholly un-bottle-worthy to me. The dentist top accord doesn’t even phase me much since I actually like going to the dentist, but it just isn’t worth it in my eyes.

Petit Matin is a very good and snice frag, kinda forgettable though.

Just tried out Kouros. One spray, during a warm summer noon. 10 minutes in and it has the smell of bathroom cleaning products with a woody and spicy edge and a slightly pungent, almost sweet note at the end. This is my first experience with a "strong" fragrance and it's weird being able to smell it without sniffing directly at the skin. It's quite snice but also nothing like I was expecting. It has a much more bathroom feel without the human/bodily aspect I assumed.

What you see before you is the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.

You see, I’ve been depressed for a long time and I’ve decided I just can’t do it anymore. Live, I mean. But I don’t want to die alone. If I can’t exist in this world, no one should. So, in about 1 hours time, at the stroke of 7:00, I will layer these scents. I project that all life on earth will end within 24 hours. I suggest you call your loved ones and make your goodbyes.

It’s been real, frens.

At work. Wearing Guerlain Vetiver layered with Caron Yuzu.

>>14952165
Vetiver presents as quite clean and fresh to me, I don't get much of the dirty vetiver and leather some people talk about, the dirty character is there but it's just enough to keep it interesting it's my 'dumb reach'. I haven't tried Intense, vetiver in its current form is modern enough for me.
Habit Rouge is a big rose and vanilla hit with the leather being much more present to my nose, though still sits in the background for much of the progression. I wear it a lot, but mostly at home. Don't think I have a look it's particularly suited for. Old fashioned and mature without smelling dated at all IMO. I wear it to bed a lot. I've gone through a fair bit since buying it but it's not a utility frag for me.

>>14952299

It was on the back of a book, didn't wanna give the pseudo-perfumer the picspace. But yeah BaV is a bitch to date properly.
General rule of thumb based on packaging:

60's vintage: White-Extremely pale yellow packaging. Eau de Cologne with the "scrolly" JD brand (+ made, packed, sealed in France on the back) Parfum de toilette: Same colour packaging with a text saying "the companion to Bal A Versailles parfum". Extrait: Same colour and font, but wrapped with a silk string into a bow. (Pictured is the 1oz. For the 15ml screw cap bottles on the back of the bottle there is a bullseye shaped gold leaf with some info)

70's vintage (can only speak for the extrait): Between the mid to late seventies and throughout most of the eighties the JD logo had a more straight font, but with the 70's parfum they still had the silk bow. At some point copyright/trademark symbols were added here. I'm guessing that was after JD died and his company was first sold on.

80's vintage (speaking for the extrait): The bow design was printed on rather than an actual bow. And the yellow shade was slightly darker. The later eighties had a more vivid sunflower yellow, assuming the company was sold again. I have seen a couple of these with both logo styles so idk if they attempted a redesign/rebranding to old roots.

90's vintage: I have actually not seen that many of these but the eau de cologne sticker and box were a very dark blue and the back of the coffret that held the extrait was a dark blue/black. (This was when it was sold to Parlux)

00's and onwards: The dreaded metallic gold boxes. With the scrolling JD font being used again. A V O I D.

This isn't taking into account the EdT which was conjured up between the late 70s and early 80's. I'm not familiar with the sprayable canisters either but I assume the same rules apply.

(cont.)
There was also an "eau de bal" which apparently was identical in smell to the cologne, I have seen both font styles used for this. There was a bath oil version and a parfum de jour, both apparently discontinued in the mid seventies. The eau de cologne and parfum de toilette were produced until the 00's I think because I have not seen the PdT for sale, atleast with the latest American company that own the brand.

The BaV that I own:

Two 1oz parfum from the 60's
One 1/2 oz parfum from the 60's
One 1/2 oz parfum from the 70-80's
One 4 oz eau de cologne from the 60's
A mini 1/8th oz Parfum de Toilette from the 60's.

I have sampled the metallic gold 00's onwards parfum and it doesn't resemble the character of the original, or even the second French reformulation.

Favorites are Versace Man and Black Orchid. I dig Antaeus but the performance is very meh for an 80s powerhouse with beaver ass juice. Burberry London is my dumb reach right now but I think I played it out. The Dreamer is cool. The leaky unnamed decant is Cafe Rose and it sucks. Le 3' Homme de Caron is very meh. Eros is Eros. I'll probably pick up a bottle of BdC when I use up the decant just to fulfill the versatile meme and to get through summer; same story with CK Be. Dead last is Cool Water.

I like Lush’s stuff in general. Some of it is loud, fruity shit for thots, but some is genuinely good. They have this one bubble bar, I forget the name, but it’s got a blue and white swirly pattern on it, it’s got patchouli, frankincense, cinnamon, and sandalwood. Super relaxing, spicy, earthy scent with just a hint of sweetness. I use it every time I have a bath. Great stuff. I also like the Karma soap. Their shaving creams are great, too. I use Prince, honestly gives me the best shave I’ve ever had and moisturizes really well. Highly recommended.

The last thing it is is unisex. It's hyper masculine and put me off at first sniff but I'll agree that it's not super animalistic, and I don't smell any bodily waste. It's challenging for the majority of normies and for a designer. The red pill is that fragrant compounds (including and especially essential oils) in general all at least have the potential to be irritating and/or cause allergies.
