Big love for you OP, plus the OP of the DA int thread previously if they're here too. These threads have really inspired me the last few days.

I've had a room renovation looming on the horizon for a while now but these have really solidified an aesthetic/stylistic pathway I'll take with my room.

The room will have faux wood vinyl flooring (It get's pretty cold here so I wanna maintain some heat, plus costs lmao). Art gallery style pale white walls, with red-y brown wood-grain furniture/desktops/floating shelves. The colour is already in use in the room with the door, wardrobe and structural ceiling beam. The shelves will be offset like pic related, floating too. I'll have a Murphy bed. This will give me the option to open up the whole room when I'm not sleeping but studying or socializing. The Murphy bed will be painted the same white as the walls besides the shelves that act as legs when she's folded down, they will be the same red-y brown as the other details.

The room will mostly be filled with books and leafy pot plants. There will be stipplings of technology throughout, though luckily I've mostly colour matched all of them. Black. With that I will also invest in black coloured lamps with these interesting large decorative bulbs that are dim-able and throw a surprising amount of light. Unlike the old decorative bulbs that used to blow like a Japanese woman in debt.

We're yet to break proverbial ground on the project yet so I'd beyond appreciate any ideas you had as to anything else I could include/add to the aesthetic. Love y'all <3

>> No.14931072

>>14931051
Not sure how vinyl wood flooring helps with heat. Carpet at least has a later of insulation underneath it, but it's your room in the end. If you're concerned about heating, you're better off looking at replacing or doing maintenance on your windows.

You are still going to need to light that room. Having a naked florescent or cheap LED bulb is going to cast harsh nonsense on all your hard work. For all the crap Midcentuy Modern gets, it gets lighting right. Danish design like PH Lamps or VH Pots will give your room a soft ambient glow.

>> No.14931085

>>14931072
My intention with the flooring is to have a thin padded layer underneath it. Thankfully, I had my windows double-glazed last year. Does a hell of a good job.

Unfortunately I don't have a fireplace in my room, though there is venting from the living-room that does. I'm a fan of space heaters, as they're effective, though they draw a hell of a lot of power. Are there any elegant and eco/wallet-friendly forms of heating besides fireplaces?

Lighting is at the forefront of planning at the moment. I have LED bulbs in the ceiling at the moment, they're the worst. I instead use two covered lamps and a directional desk light at the moment. It creates a comfy, albeit a little moody, vibe. I'll look into mid-century lighting fren. Thank you :)

I agree with the bed, but myself personally I'd always want me desk near the window, or at least near some source of light.

Also, forgot to add that I'll be getting some rugs to go over the vinyl flooring. Russian style. I think it adds to the academic aesthetic I'm going for but I'd love to hear what you have to say as I'm no rug expert.

If it weren't for the ultra modern receiver, it probably could have had me fooled as real vintage.
I miss the idea of appliances and electronics as furniture. Those speakers probably sound like trash, but hell if they don't set the stage in the room.

TV toward to window? Even if it is north facing, you willl block it with curtains.

BTW, in some older thread I saw some infographics about indoor plants. Can somebody post?
Also any ideas for east facing room with a lot of sun during spring/summer and literally none during winter that produces something edible, is evergreen, doesnt need constant care and is kind of dominant (no more than 2meters tall and up to 1 meter in diameter).
I was thinking about some dwarf citrus...

So to anyone ITT that's been inspired or wants to make their room more ~aesthetic~ or maybe just moved into a new room and would like some ideas or ways to make their rooms like the ones ITT
Then it seems like theres a few common themes or components that help make these aesthetic minimalistic of comfy rooms the way they are
Which is usually..

A) some sort of greenery, whether that's a real or fake plant, it seems like alot of the nicer rooms in thread like these usually have AT LEAST 1 nice plant, but if you're looking at wanting to decorate and setup your room to be fengshui or nice looking on a budget then you can easily find and buy cheap fake plants or micro plants in glass bowls or pots etc for a few bucks at places like Dollarama/Walmart etc

B) some sort of wood or faux wood pieces, whether that's wood planks or boards on your wall or as a shelf or a storage rack or desk or smol wood night table or coffee table or swiping wood palettes and making them into furniture or hell even wood Decals that you stick on your wall it seems like wood + green plants ALWAYS makes a room look much nicer than it actually is..

C) another common ingredient is low beds, preferably made with wood support boards or a wood frame or a slight lift so it's more than just a mattress on a floor, for some reason a low low bed near the floor with a nice or neat wood support always make a room seem more artsy or "Japanesey" maybe? Idk.. but it seems to work, you rarely see huge high beds in ~AeStHeTic~ room pics

D) and it feels like alot of the nicest room pics are semi minimalist with not much clutter and are semi organized and have nice air neat lights. But this seems like a hard and fast idea than rule.

Most of these aesthetic room pics are from New York closet dwellers who can't afford real furniture after rent and that one Eames chair they all have.

problem with all those pics is, they are from staged photoshoots, not real bedrooms. They are as real as instagram "models" life.
