Funny thing happened to me today. I went to Goodwill to return something, and I ended up getting the shirt and jacket depicted in this Chaps ad (which I saved just yesterday). I was looking at the shirt section, and I needed a uni stripe buttondown, and I found one, so I bought it. Then, as I was walking to the register, I decided to take a look at the blazer section, and I found a brown houndstooth sportcoat, tried it on and it fit me, and then when I looked at the label inside it, I found out that it is in fact a Chaps jacket. Kind of a funny coincidence. Sorry for the blogpost.

is there really that significant of a difference between oxfords and derbies?
it really seems to just boil down to close lace vs open lace.
and i think the vast majority of the population wouldnt tell the difference.
for instance:
>plain toe oxfords are a sin. just boring. go cap toe.

does this actually make sense for non-shoe nerds?

If you are slim get slimmer cuts, if you are fat/muscled go for wider cuts. If you are Slim and go for wider cuts you get that abomination from the fifth pic you posted, and if you are big and go for slim cuts you get the SEXcore look

Actually, if you look closely, you can see that he's stretching his sweater to it's limits to make up for the low rise pants. If he had a pair of properly fitting pants, then his sweater would actually fit better since it would allow for some amount of movement without immediately riding up, which I guarantee it will as soon as he moves right now.
One other problem with this fit (for me anyway) is that the sweater and pant color are too similar. I like at least a bit more contrast for a lighter-colored winter fit.

It depends on what exactly you want to wear. For example, it might be easier for you to incorporate a tweed sportcoat and a pair of cords into your existing wardrobe – but if you're not interested in countrywear those might be crap purchases.

At any rate, an OCBD and a couple good ties can't go amiss, you'll need those anyway. Get a maroon-based repp tie, they go with fucking everything. Maroon/navy, if you can.
