If you got it on that rubber strap then it shouldn't be bad. It's the way the links of the bracelet version attach to the case that people have a problem with.
General rule of thumb for diving or swimming is that the watch, regardless of brand or age, should be pressure tested before use. Of course nobody really bothers to do this anymore and just hopes for the best as they hop in the pool.

This guy "kind" of has a point. I think it's easy to see the level of quality and craftsmanship from a mile away, even a novice could notice. But, what's even most apparent is YOU, the watchowner, know the quality and how beautiful a piece, and because YOU know that what you wear ever more prominently across your sleeve is another added layer of confidence in your defined taste. And that is the most beautiful thing someone can wear.

I'd rather just spend 70 bucks on a boctok desu, and choose whatever bezel I wanted if I could be bothered changing it. Same goes for strap.
500 bucks for a kickstarter microbrand shit with one of the most basic (low end) miyota movements?

as long as it has a caseback tool youre set. thats the silver thing on the far right. Lots of tutorials on youtube etc., but the basic gist is to fit the prongs inside the slots of the back and twist. put a sheet of cellophane over the caseback before you fit the tool in there to avoid scratches. after that youll have to remove the stem by pushing a little button with the watch strap tool. Itll slide out and then you can drop the movemnt out and glue your shit. If you want to replace the dial and hands its a bit more work because youll have to remove the rotor first (not hard). make sure you line up your hands and have your watch set at 12 so you know what position to put the hands back on (if you dont do this the hands wont be set with the date eg youre watch will change date at 6:03 or something). Not that hard but id watch a video just make sure you have a clean workspace so you dont lose shit and make sure you blow all the dust out before you put it back together.

I really enjoy my eco drive. Its a great watch to kick around with. The Chronograph is nice as well since it goes up to an hour.

Ochs and junior adjust it specially for your location at order.

If you want a watch that has sunset/sunrise time anywhere in the world, you can buy Krayon's Anywhere watch. If you have 600k laying around...
Beautiful complication tho

Are Zodiac forseeable forever watched if I maintain them?
I refuse to buy a timepiece that won't outlive me anymore.

>> No.14927582

an STP zodiac will be serviceable for a long time probably, but STP movement parts aren't as easy to get as ETA parts.

>> No.14927593

>>14927582
yeah that is the thing that worries. It is a "literally who movement." that and Idk how zodiac holds to wear and tear.

Why does zodiac appeal to you?
I think a vintage omega or rolex would be better for availability of spare parts.

I thought so. I first hoped they made a complication that you can adjust yourself but doesn't seem like it.

STP isn't literally who, it's just not as common, so not every watch maker has drawers and drawers of movements from the last several decades.

the exact one I have a project watch, only 150pcs made. It is also way bigger than an skx013. The case is bulky and has sharp edges. I hear the 710 case is a bit more compact and the 420 case is standard oldschool-small one.

Or, you could buy a wellmade mid-size diver, like the Maen Hudson 38, pic related

I like the aesthetic.
I like the lack of normie name brand.
Seems otherwise solid.
I acknowledge you are correct there but I want a brand new watch that I can look back at as the 2020 release I was the only owner of.

I really don't like microbrands or many newer made watches at all. I like vintage and current seiko mid size divers. Pic is my 38mm 4205. I'm happy to go up to 42mm (i've even had 44mm panerai's) but I would probably just use these for diving. This is where the vostok has sparked my interest. I will look into those case sizes. I'm just concerned about their reliability.

I see
I'm more into vintage seiko dress watches (need to fix up one with a mickey dial)
As of relaibility of a vostok, I've had mine for almost 2 years and no issues so far. runs at +15ish
I still might get a "zissou", pic related, only perhaps in blue dial. Just keep in mind the finish on the case is not too good and the bezel is not really operational. But at 75 bucks it is a great watch, a living fossil, as they would say if it were an animal.

regarding reliability I must also mention that they have been making the exact same caliber (and the whole watch) for 50 years, making minor changes only when necessary. I know in the 80s there was an issue with bezels falling off, but it got mitigated by a better retention spring. Took the fuckers 10 years tho..
At the end of the day you have ask yourself:
If it's good enough for Bill Murray, is it good enough for me?

>> No.14927995

>>14927969
for the price you would be paying it would be very high quality indeed. I'd trust the modern production way more than any vintage. steer well clear of anything made in late 80s and 90s
keep in ming the bezel is non-ratcheting, just friction
good luck ;)
