There's a certain intimacy about adjusting someone's uniform for them. They stand perfectly still right in front of you as you adjust their ribbons and nametag, weaving your hand inside and outside of the uniform and touching their body. Men aren't supposed to adjust female uniforms but it's a damn good feeling moving a womans nametag and trying not to pierce her tits with it. A feeling most people will never get to enjoy sadly.

I like to do that with friends in public sometimes. When I notice a hair sticking to their clothes or something like that, I ask if I can touch them and then adjust whatever is wrong. I picked it up after watching the opening scene of this old German war movie. It's friendly, intimate and a power move all at the same time.

Since I'm no longer involved with any sort of military uniforms that's now the closest I get to experiencing it these days. It's very similar but not quite the same. But I definitely agree, all at once it is a power move, friendly, and intimate. I always enjoyed adjusting the uniforms of people in my unit. The eye contact that happens during the exchange used to make me diamonds now and then. One of the few things I miss.
