This. I take a lot of my inspo from Robert Smith, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, and 80s music. I find that when shopping mens clothes are so basic and uniform now. Nothing but camo patterns, cartoons, and solid colors. Womens clothing has actual patterns and details. I just thrift now.

I think OP's picture is cherry picking a bit because of this. Right is clearly some kind of mentally deformed hipster. I still think its accurate if you compare the modern suit to that of the 40s though. the modern suit is a lot skinnier, less big and bulky, men wear shit like flamingo print socks etc. Also I think the main 'what went wrong' problem is that normal clothes are mostly shit quality now, and 'good' quality stuff is absurdly expensive because they know people will pay more money for it.
