I'm really devastated desu. This is after 4 wears with shoe trees. Got them from Meermin. Are the shoes pretty much dead?

This amount of creasing can't be normal.

Could it be because they are too big? I ordered a size up since I couldnt get my foot into my real size(size 40).

Or am I delusional and is this an acceptable amount of creasing?

>> No.14802423

Thats quite a bit of creasing, but i wouldnt consider them dead. If the shoe trees are the correct size, it means that the creases happen when you use them, which would corroborate with your statement that they are a size larger. Generally you want chelseas to be quite tight, but i can only guess if it was possible or not.

Get high quality letter or no letter at all and go faux suede instead.

>> No.14802459

I don't think it has much to do with the fit, but the type/quality of material used.

I would say they creased too much, but it's not a real problem, they are gonna crease anyway after wear. Not wearing correct size might be a reason because since they are bigger they crease more when you move.

They are made out of french boxcalf of pretty high quality, doesn’t get much better than that.
What could have happened is that this material was not designed to be used on boots, but rather regular shoes, but this is just a guess.

can someone tell me why creasing is bad?

>> No.14802562

Go on styleforum if you want people who know what they're talking about.

It's a meh calf quality + bad fit + upper tension issue, really.

Chelsea boots like that don't have a captoe so the large stretch of leather doesn't have a tension break.

Can be indicative of damage, but for the most part it's just a symptom of Fast Fashion. Any sign of wear, and it needs to be pitched, things need to look a certain way and never change (because the trend will change).

Which is silly with leather, where one of the key benefits of it is that it molds to your body and slowly accumulates a "personality".

OP, look into conditioning, they might be dried out something fierce.

What's my best option here guys? Accept it?

Wear heel inserts to decrease toe space?

Really don't know what I can do.

Really pissed since it's like my first pair of boots ever.

Atleast the shoe trees help the creasing but when I wear them it pisses me off.

Next time you buy expensive/good shoes, go to a proper shoe store and tell them what you want. When you are clear about what you want and son't want they are usually very willing to help you find the right shoe in the right size.

It's kind of embarassing for me to do this as I am 6 foot tall but I have size 7(40 eu) feet. People always freak out when they see my feet. And I can't wear most shoes as they make my feet look very small compared to my body.

It is normal. I got Cheaney shoes that cost 450 pounds, and they have the very same sort of creases on some spots

Both are true. From what you said, it's pretty obvious that it is because of its size. Wearing an insole might help, as it would elevate your feet and get them closer to the leather.

Looks like pretty normal creasing to me. Have you never owned leather footwear before? Creasing is a natural property of leather. $1500 Edward Greens are still gonna crease

Yes it does. A lot better. Meermin is a good entry level brand. Much much higher quality exists... for s price.

i think it looks quite normal, although usually it takes a lil while till it looks like that, just apply some shoecare products to ensure that the leather doesnt start cracking in those spots.

These are my cheap Levi's Chelseas. I think I've worn them as much (or a bit more) than you did your Meermin.

You can notice some creasing, but not as much as in yours. You can also notice that the material on my chelseas is a couple orders of magnitude inferior to yours. Why the difference? Because they're actually my size. Next time you buy leather shoes or boots, make sure you pick the right size. While some creasing is unavoidable, if your shoes or boots are larger than they should, they will show more creasing than usual and would look worse over time.

Anyway, what's done, it's done. Just use shoe trees and condtion more than usual to minimize the creasing.
