I've been dressing more prep/trad/ivy for the past 8 months due to some classes requiring it and me not liking suits. i pick up girls in my classes but they're smarter, nerdier, etc girls.

I went to a music festival and dressed more casually so i could dance and be warm at night but still kept the trad/ivy trend going. Didn't pick up any girls because i took a whole ecstasy pill instead of half and my friend group was anchoring me down.

my question is, will i have to dress the way girls i want to hook up with will want or can my confidence take me all the way? i'm worried about a hot, but not so smart, girl not getting it and me completely blowing my chances before i can even start

Stop worrying and be. Let your personality speak beyond your clothes.

Clothes are a way to present yourself and your identity. If you are true to that identity, then you should be able to find someone accepting of you. The person you present yourself as is important, but make sure you're not deliberately isolating yourself from growing as a person because you've dedicated so much to an aesthetic idealized outside your comfort zone, or have invested too much from a persona you've moved on from.

Know yourself, and be confident and yes -- naturally attractive/fit, and go from there.

Also dressing like trash doesn't mean you're not intelligent.

The ivy league look is more indicative of wealth and living a life influenced by the ideas of tradition than intellect. It's not just smart people who go to ivy league schools, many people get into them through social connections and birthright.

It's possible to look intellectual and have a more "punk" aesthetic at the same time.

its for my philosophy class and debate club. my computer science classes and library get chilly so a warm sweater or vest helps. i have to walk uphill around campus so some nice boots come in handy. TIP came in handy for me
