Wtf was some retard saying in last thread that blue+green doesn't look good? It's one of the 4-5 basic natural combos. It looks great

When mixing colours a good idea is yo copy nature, the Planet earth is mainly blue and green when seen from the space. The other colours you can apreciate are White, Grey and Khaki/beige, all those 5 work good with each other

If you want to keep mixing other colours, take inspiration in flowers, since you can find lots of them of different colours. Flowers tend to use contrasting colours. For example a Purple flower is probable that it has some yellow element in the inside.

Another attempt at colour mixing are landscapes, the khaki chinos+light blue ocbd that is so common here can be seen at a beach (sand and sea/sky) or in a desert (sand+sky)

Every sports jacket made in England has shoulder pads and the sports jackets of prep WASP New England has their origins in England. They are the original jackets with pads. Without pads is the odd one out. Even Italian made sports jackets usually have pads too.

That's just like your opinion man. 'timeless' and 'classic' are just dumb buzzwords. Much of /tip/ is rooted in styles from a distinct period of time. Ivy for example is from the 50s 60s. If you look at how Harvard students were dressed in the 30s you'll find something completely different.There is no such thing as 'timeless' style. Personally I'd rather not wear a style frozen in 1969 but adapt it to my own style. No one can say what the "point" of dressing tip is.

Even if that were true, elbow pads would still not be /tip/ because with the exception of extremely rare gimmicky jackets, elbow pads were never used in jackets for the best part of 100 years, so they are not “timeless” in any way, but a fad that came and went.

The problem is that /tip/ constitutes a range of styles. Yes, American trad and ivy would be natural shouldered (this doesn't mean no padding/structure at all however. However, English country trad (which has been included in these threads since forever) always has a certain amount of shoulder padding in their jackets, which are generally more structured (with suppressed waists) than their American counterparts.

Jesus /fa/, this thread has turned into a shit show. There is a difference between shoulder pads and elbow patches that half of you are missing. Anon's jacket in question ( >>14777673 ) has elbow patches, which is an affectation but a common one that has long been a feature of sporting jackets.

The shoulders the jacket anon posted look like they might have some medium padding in it, which is fine for trad/ivy/prep. So long as you avoid the heavy big shoulder pads of the 1940s and 1980s you're fine. You can go from next to none (popular among Italians) to some (traditional for Americans and the British) and still look trad.

The real issue with anon's jacket is that the sleeves look far too short given where the elbow patches are, but maybe anon has long biceps and short forearms.

Take a look at their herringbone grey overcoat, that one looked good in person. The Camel and blue overcoats were too Slim but weren't bad

They also have a green sweater that has a really beautiful colour (much nicer in person than in the website). I didn't purchase it because it wasn't full wool, it had a 20% of something else, but if you don't mind that, is a great purchase

I have plenty of tweed jackets and I really like the sweater/shirt/tie combo under them but I feel so uncomfortable with a sweater over a shirt, really restricted and I hate the feeling.

I'm thinking a sleeveless sweater which feels so much more comfy. My only problem is it will make my chest area look bigger and the jacket arms smaller and as I have spaghetti arms, I don't want that. A full sweater does not have that problem.

Anyone think of alternatives? Maybe a cardigan?

Here are my recommendations:
Royal cheese one store with clothes and another for shoes. Some English American and French brands.
Jinji (I got a great brushed Shetland jumper here)
Wicket (blazers suits etc)
Hartford (American influenced)
Boggi (decent shirts)
Suit supply (blazers and suits)
If you want shoes get off at ternes and go to orbans, Mansfield, Finsbury and emiling. There's another there I can't remember. If you want to spend more money on shoes go for paraboot (shops around Paris) and j m Weston for top tier quality.

To be honest compared to London or other cities Paris kind of sucks for /tip/. There's a million crappy Italian shops that will sell you fused, too short crap, lots of fast fashion bullocks and then the super luxury stuff.

Harris tweed will be more expansive than regular wool, but it's a rough tweed, not soft to the touch. Good for actual country-wear but if you just wear a sweater the bit of wool around the collar could rub on you.

All jackets will have a make and if it's a well known cloth, they will have the label for that too. The only possible reason I can think for a jacket to only have a "Harris Tweed" label inside it and nothing else is if it came directly from the Harris Tweed website store but I doubt that very much as they would likely be pretty new and rare to find and still sell for over $100 or more used.

Ah I think we thought you had it in person, if it's ebay they just haven't taken a photo of who made it, it will be there though.

If it's made of Harris Tweed it's going to be fine as that is a more expensive material than just a regular wool so when new the jacket would have had a high price so the quality will be in line with that.

Most of them will be made by menswear labels/tailor stores that you haven't heard of rather than big brands. Which is OK because menswear clothing are often better quality than huge brands that rely on the name and that's what you pay for.

As long as the jacket is harris tweed or some other 100% wool it will be good. "Tweed" jackets alone, especially those sold on highstreet fashion stores usually have blends in them including polyester. So some people will see the word tweed and a popular high street name brand and go for that when those are the worse kind.

Look for 100% wool and most times 100% viscose lining.

Any mention of polyester (plastic) in the outer jacket and lining means a cheap and low quality jacket.

It has a shade that is not complementary to that shade of brown and neither fits properly with the green of the pants (the blue should be darker in case you want blue). Don't worry. Ivy actually included a lot of very skinny ties, lapels and slim fit trousers. Ultimately what you should do is find a look you like then adapt it to your body type. I have a long torso so I love higher waisted trousers as it balances me out a bit but I understand that not everyone needs to do that.
