I've just discovered Les Senteurs from Belgravia, London. £3.50 per 1.5ml sample of every niche perfume in their catalogue (although there's a limit of 4 samples per order) is a bloody good deal. Often you can get a better price per ml with their samples that way than by buying a full bottle. Also their selection is really good. I'd suggest to add it to the sticky together with Jovoy and Bloom.

Counter-intuitive. Saw a random shitpost on here with it and had a look at the notes and general feedback on Fragantica, liked what I saw then sampled it. It's harsh, chemically and synthetic, on paper it should be something to hate on yet it's satisfying and addictive with decent performance. Also a bargain priced at £31 for 100ml.

>Beau
Top drawer performance and longevity, probably the best currently on sale in its genre if you don't already own a bottle of YSL Rive Gauche. Smooth, almost creamy lavender with a light spiciness and added depth from moss and patchouli to stop it from being too linear. As good for spring and it's had a lot of wear since it was released. Prefer it to Invasion Barbare and sold the latter after I'd had Beau de Jour for a while and made it redundant. One of the best Private Blends to come out in ages.

>Sartorial
Very solid autumn/winter formal frag but not that versatile and needs some thought about the occasion and where you wear it. It has to pair well with the outfit. Had both compliments and negative feedback on it from it smelling 'gentlemanly' to 'why do you stink of talcum powder anon?'.

I've never met a girl that likes that frag, you must be speculating.
>>14770958
I'm a graduate student TA so I'm around pre-nursing college girls every day, it's a good way to judge frags (I have to get close to help them do shit like work microscopes, etc). Overall girls like PdM frags like Herod, pegasus, Layton, etc (NOT godolphin although it's my favorite leather frag). Of the niche frags I have they also respond well to Aventus, MI, Bleecker Street, and Reflection. Some girls (like 25%) really love TV, the rest hate it. I've had good reactions to 1899 but that's just expensive Snicebomb so it doesn't count. Are you a bad enough dude to pull off fougeres? If you are then that is the absolute best way to go, I've gotten more enthusiastic reactions to these than any other type. Girls go crazy for barbershop frags because you smell like their dad, and for some reason that activates something in their lizard brain and they go nuts. The niche fougeres I have are 1725, Sartorial, and Viking (chicks love Viking), but any good/classic fougerre works like Azzaro PH or Rive Gauche. They even like Fahrenheit. Hope this helps.

Also on Bottega Veneta, definitely. It's the kind of thing you'd expect to be throwaway second-thought designer fodder like Jimmy Choo, Ralph Lauren or Hugo Boss ones but completely surprises you with the quality of their leather/fougere centric range. They have a consistent style, quality and genre like soapy Prada ones that they've made their own, yet it receives very little hype.

Wouldn't mind trying the Avignon sticks but I was kinda so-so on the spray so I don't know if I'd really want to spend £35 for a punt on some overpriced incense sticks I might actually dislike.

A huge majority of men’s fragrances fall into the fougere category, but yeah when people describe something as it now, it’s usually referring to barbershop type frags. Think Barabsol shaving cream.

Unironically, if you want something that most girls like, then watch Jeremy videos. As much as I don’t like Jeremy and his recs, he’s generally correct in this area. If he got great reactions from Azzaro Pour Homme he would fucking douse himself in it, but he doesn’t and people usually don’t either. If any company had a fragrance that had serious effects they would market the absolute shit out of it because they exist to make money.

I would advise finding something that you like yourself, or taking your girlfriend or some girl if you want their opinion.

Most people are totally fucking retarded here and the red pill to swallow is that girls don’t really give a shit as long as you don’t smell offensive to them.

Another goober seething because he isn't Chad enough to wear barbershop frags. The ultimate redpill is that women use scent association, and a good amount of them will associate fougeres with manly men whether its their dad or grandpa. Doesn't matter, the point is that it smells manly to them. Now if you're a scrawny dweeb or have a bad personality it will turn them off, but if you're attractive and confident then you'll see even better responses than an equally hot guy wearing somethikng like Layton.

A lot of the argument in this thread can be attributed to simple miscommunication and anecdotal experience. The conflict revolves around the fact that there are two types of girl: those that have a good relationship with their father, and those that don't.

Those that have a good relationship with their father will want someone who reminds them of him: mature, put-together, elegant. These are the girls that will enjoy fragrances like 1725, Azzaro PH, TDH, etc.

Those that don't will want someone who gives off a youthful, edgy, rebellious aura. For someone like this, Eros, Invictus and Sauvage are the best option.

Really, if the goal is just compliments, there is a time and place for both kinds of fragrance. However, I would encourage everyone in this thread to wear fragrances for yourself instead.

This is how I approach fragrances, as well as clothing and hairstyles. I just wear what I like. In my opinion, if I wear what I like, even if I attract less girls than someone doused in jerememe frags and dressed in SEXcore, I will be more likely to attract girls with similar taste, and probably similar personality, to myself. I would rather attract ONE woman who likes me for who I am, than a thousand basic thots who like me because I follow trends.

I dont give a fuck about compliments, I just have an autistic obsession with Fahrenheit. I just sprayed some TDH I have from a 15ml mini and its good but you fucks should just get Fahrenheit, it's better in literally every way. TDH can't be sprayed more than 2x because it creates a noxious cloud of Iso E Super. Fahrenheit has less Iso E so it has more room to breathe

This really isn’t true at all desu. Not all girls want to fuck their dad. There’s also plenty of daddy issues girls who like those classic scents because it reminds them of the dad that never gave them the love they craved.

Also 90% of the population don’t wear scents. 9% of that 10% just wear best sellers, so probably acqua di gio or polo if the girl is in her 20s.

You really think there’s tons of girls who have dads in that 1% and also want to fuck someone that reminds them of their dad?

There’s also not a classically manly man who had a carefully curated scent wardrobe lol. Internet didn’t exist, on average it’s not like they even had access to these things.

This is honestly some deep red pill 4chan theory at work that’s not based in reality.

Girls just like something clean and subtle and don’t really care other than that. If your 80s fougere is those things then they’ll probably think it’s nice just the same as anything else.

What are some popular options in the frag community that you 100% disagree with.

I'll start. There is a notion out there that Layton by PdM is a designer scent for a niche price. What makes it designer? Lol. The fact that it is mass appealing? I don't see why niche fragrances can't a mix of mass appealing, daring, high quality and performance beasts.

To me Layton is far from a designer fragrance. I bought it a month ago and have worn it 10 times already and every single time but once, at least one person has told me I smell really amazing and smell like something they've never smelled before. I own ultramale as well and it doesn't even hold a candle to layton.

Just got this in the mail today. 10ml of the following:
>Mûre et Musc Extrême - Eau de Parfum
>With a key note of blackcurrant, the crisp blackberry flavour grows and flourishes.

>Premier Figuier - Eau de Toilette
>The scent of a fig tree on a summer's day in Provence. An enveloping freshness with milky woody notes.

>Histoire d'Orangers - Eau de Parfum
>A sunny diversion in the shade of the bitter orange trees.

>L’Eau d’Ambre Extrême - Eau de Parfum
>A trip into the opulence of the 1930s. The scent of luxurious furs, of an oriental breeze, waves of amber and gold spices.

>Passage d'Enfer - Eau de Toilette
A fragrance playing on the contrasting facets of incense; its dry and poignant freshness is rounded by the scent of white musk and lilies.

Tried out Mure et Musc, 20 minutes in and it's nice but unremarkable so far. Projection is not that strong. Passage d'Enfer on the other hand is really nice, I don't think I had tried incense-based frags before but I really like it. I’m just shit posting to point out how ridiculous it is.

It’s extremely unlikely that any of these 20 year old dads regularly wore fragrance. If they did, there’s a 95% chance it was whatever their wife gifted them which would have been polo or ADG. There is almost zero chance any ones dad was wearing these rediscovered classics that fragrance autists (all of us here) have picked up and learned about.

The large majority of zero associations with fougeres it’s just another scent to them.

You’re not getting it dude. The only people who have these associations with those fragrances are people who learned about it by being into fragrance. The dudes you are referring to did not wear those things. No one was smelling like this in the 90s. Barbershops didn’t smell like this either. They’re starting to smell like it again with the hipsterification of barbershops trying time mimic the old days, but it didn’t exist in the 90s. My dad would have associated those smells as a from when he was a kid in the 60s, but a girl raised in the 90s doesn’t have this association.

What an embarrassing post. You're delusional if you think people don't associate barbershops with old dudes. What the hell are you bringing up the 90s for? The old men in question are boomers and earlier, way to miss the mark. It's common knowledge that fougeres smell like "old man," just your avg normie doesn't know that it's called fougerre. You even said it yourself, girls get an old man vibe when you wear it. Way to contradict yourself, dummy!

I thought the theory was that young women like smells associated with their dads, IE what their dad wore in the 90s if we're talking Gen Y girls. Now it's that they like smells associated with old men?
