I have a 48 inch chest and a 34 inch waist because I work out, but who cares, that's just for me. If anything, having a chest within the average range makes clothing a lot easier

My rule of thumb is that pants should reach the belly button. No matter if the person is a manlet or a lanklet the belly button is the golden ratio. From then you can experiment however you want, pleats/no pleats, the size of the waistband etc. Look at the size of that waistband at the lad and compare it to the lenght of his tie. It's obvious that the rise reaches higher than the belly button.

I'm that anon from the last thread. Just ordered a size 38. The site I got it from said the jackets have ~10 inches of room for movement and layers and it explicitly said not to size up. I think I'll be fine with it. I'd prefer a slightly snugger fit than a lose one (if it's too small).

This is interesting. I align with some tip ideals like wanting good quality clothes that are not flashy or gaudy. From my experience in the Finance world, the Red/Blue aspect is true, our unofficial shirt tie combo was some sort of Red/Burgundy Tie with Blue/Off Blue/White Shirt, that was a very Convervative Firm I was working for though. So it makes sense.

I'm assuming BB is Brooks Brothers. I work at BB and all the new shirts are Supima cotton, an extra long staple cotton resistant to shrinking. Should be good to wash and dry them however you want. Any shrinking will be minimal.

I don't even know why people mention slim fit still. It was like a 2010 fad. Slim fit clothing will age like shit. Classic style barely changed.

Maybe people think classic is baggy, just get clothing that actually fits you and it's fine. My stuff fits snug on me and it doesn't have pencil arms strangling me.

I like tapered pants, they help because I have small feet so it makes my silhouette look better but slim fit jackets or whatever are what you see teenagers wearing, cheap polyester "tweed" suits.

I think it's an okay fit, the thing about it is that the coat and cable knit are very 30s workwear; I'd expect a guy wearing this in the background of a movie to be wearing a ribbed beanie and chewing plug tobacco while loading a sail barge on a canal or something. I agree with Anon that the sweater doesn't work; there's a rule not to mix blue and green which I think is generally overstated by MUH GENTLEMAN STYLE types who learn shit by rote, but it exists for cases like this. Navy and a darker green don't work well. I would've gone full workwear with a (possibly thicker) white cableknit, especially to go with a button-down and no tie.

Alternatively you could swap out the coat for a classic tweed sportcoat if you wanted to look smarter. The green color would still give a bit of maching trouble but it should go fine with an unstructured grey herringbone ivy coat, for example, or a light blue English-cut. If you go this route, wear a tie as well. Skip the pocket swuare, though, that comes off as a little bit precious with a rough textured fit based on cord and tweed IMO.

T-shirts are a kind of undershirt and undershirts are essential underwear except in very hot conditions.
