I'm a burger of english descent living in the Netherlands. I have blue eyes and red hair and am dutch-passing. I want to start incorporating subtle symbols of white supremacy/germanicism into my wardrobe, but when I asked my friend about it he said it was basically WE WUZing because I'm from the US. People back then (viking age) had no strong unified cultural identity like we have today. For instance, the pendant in your picture only became "fashionable" because of the Christian cross the old Norse saw on Christians. It probably wasn't even worn in Frisia. Much, if not all of the stories and prime sources we have on the Frisian/Anglo-Saxons and Norse come from Christian writers. And thus contaminated and unreliable as a source for any cultural identity.

However I understand what you mean. I'm Dutch and lived in Norway for a while, where, like you, I was passing as a Norwegian because of my hair, pale skin and build. I met a guy in a prison class I was teaching asking me which germanic Tribe I was from. Which is a question nobody ever asked me. It's fun to feel a part of a certain group. So just do as you please. But try to remember that in the end it's all fantasy, and in The Netherlands people aren't as concerned with Germanic Heritage as they are in Scandinavia. Here, and especially in Germany, it has a suspicious connotation (because of the War) that not everyone can appreciate.

Because you can't seperate those categories from their historical context. Whiteness as an identity is inexctricably tied to colonial history as it was literally used as a justification to treat non-whites as subhuman, and the consequence is that you can no longer emphasize whiteness as the central point of your identity without also emphasizing that part of history. That's a slight exageration for illustrative purposes, but that's the gist of it. Well let's start with your first comment then. You call white identity fabricated, and it is true that it is, in the same way that any idea or identity is. But that's clearly not what you meant when you said that. You used fabricated as an attempt to delegetimise white identity with the insinuation that it was just pulled out of thin air, and not based in reality. Now of course I recognise, as they did in the 1880s, that "the races of men blend seamlessly together" and while this is true to some extent, it is not true that we are simply a perfect genetic spectrum similar to the colour spectrum, and just for the record even if that was true it wouldn't delegetimise the idea of whiteness. Looking at genetic clustering analysis shows this most obviously, allowing us to draw any variety of circles that we would want to around a particular ethnic group. The ability to create a distinct "white" group is clear, and obvious. You could say there remains some ambiguity, like whether you would remove Albanians or Romanians or something, but that slight ambiguity does not mean it isn't based in real ethnic heritage.
Then you say that it was simply used to discriminate against those who were "not white". I'm imagining you are talking about segregation laws in this case, as the idea that all non-whites were treated in the same manner by whites in any other sense is ridiculous, or that whites were all treated the same in any other situation than segregation laws is ridiculous again.

This is a very one sided view. Europe and the west has seen much MUCH greater levels of immigration than the east, largely due to colonialism and the slave trade as well as the industrial revolution; etc. The east on the other hand has always been focused on isolating itself from the world, thus have a much more inter woven culture that's incredibly hard to assimilate into and be recognized.
