Quartz now can reach 1 second per year level with the new Citizen movement. Or, if you want something more affordable, 5 seconds a year with the Longines VHP for ~$700.

But mechanical is beautiful in its own right. You have a tiny machine on your wrist, powered by a spring and gears, with 200+ parts and a balance wheel that oscillates anywhere from 18k to 36k times an hour. You can run with it, swim with it, climb mountains with it, and the best will only be off by 2-3 seconds per day, which is pretty incredible. If you take care of it it'll last for generations, if not forever, while quartz is basically disposable.

Their still a little ugly and thick compared to any traditional watch, but the functionality is undeniable, I wear gen 4 black ceramic on my left wrist and on of my real watches on my right, and I just take the Apple Watch off and leave it in my pocket if I want to look good. I’m very glad their using some interesting materials like ceramic and titanium instead of just the standard consumer electronics aluminum, and some of the details in the watch faces makes it clear that there are people working on it with a real horological background which gives me hope that they will continue to improve in the future

I was really seriously considering getting the panda dial 40mm diver from them, but I don't really like the fully lumed dial vs indicators in dive watches. I feel like it actually makes it harder to read than just indicators/hands/bezel in a funny way.

From what I can tell they are affordable with decent specs and fairly solid construction. Not super accurate but nothing in their price point is, and for the insane water resistance they offer it's a pretty solid deal in my book.

rolex sub is hard. because people who do know what it is, will probably be jelly and won't tell you its nice. others will think it's a replica. i had a couple replica subs and a franken sub. but at the end of the day I knew it wasn't real. So I always sold them
good thing about reps, they sell FAST and keep most of their value. way easier to flip.

I will get a sports rolex once my portfolio reaches a certain amount. I typically buy watches to reward myself for accomplishments in my career. the only watches ive held onto were puchased at milestones.
The reps have all been just to try it out. they held no significance so they never stayed with me longer than a couple months.

I didn't do the modification myself because I was worried about damaging the WR for the watch, but I had my Orient Mako retested after getting a double domed sapphire crystal put in by a watch maker and it still was 200m. The mako isn't ISO certified though, just a manufacturer 200m so the testing standards are different

I prefer the c60 to the c65 but CW is definitely not loved as much as it should be. They provide similar build quality, reliability and tolerances to low end Omegas and most Tudors for 1/4 the price.

I can see that. Casio Edifice's won't get you much in terms of watch enthusiast cred but they make really good stuff in a pretty decent price range. It's pretty similar to the promaster/tough series of citizen in that it's just not quite loved despite being some of the best built and most reliable tool watches one can buy while also being very affordable.
