denim stretches a little from wearing it, but unless you fell for the raw denim meme it won't shrink at all. how snug it should fit depends on the angle of the shoulders, if they're straight out the seam should ride higher to avoid armpit bunching, if they're closer down to the sides the seam should be further out so you can raise your arms.
