I was born in '89. The smell of Cool Water mixed with cigarettes is the smell of my childhood. Every man in my family, every dad of my friends wore Cool Water. I got a bottle for christmas last year. Regardless of the quality of the fragrance, it really proves how evocative they can be because when I sprayed it for the first time it instantly took me back. Incredible.

I remember that advert too. It was so ubiquitous.

I'm in love with it too, and own it but find it really difficult to find a setting to wear because how how fucking loud it is. If you like it but would like something more affordable, Rose Anonyme by Atelier is very similar but without the loud projection. It's really nice for summer evenings and in some ways prefer it to Noir de Noir because of how more casual it is.

EDT seems much nicer. I think the EDP is nice after a few hours, but the opening is too harsh. EDT is almost seems calming to me. That’s what I’ve been saying for ages. Fragrances are not common. And if they are, most people fall in to two categories. Horrendous oversprayers or pointless undersprayers. You don’t notice them in the UK at all. In all the pubs, bars, and restaurants I’ve been in I don’t think “Everybody’s wearing Sauvage” I think “oh shit, somebody is actually wearing an aftershave”.

You're welcome! For indoor occasions, I go with one spray. I rocked out two sprays in a large kitchen with my friend one time, and from about 5 feet away she told me that I was wearing too much cologne. However, she still liked the scent.
>>14450530
Not at all, man. A ton of frags are unisex anyways. For example, I made a decant of La Nuit for the aforementioned female friend because she liked it and wanted to wear it. Personally, I really want a nice white-floral, jasmine-based scent. That would be dope.

My point is I think those notes are just mature and the majority of this board is younger. They arent bad though and I am thankful we have oldfag posters who bring a larger breadth of experience. Fashion is cyclical though and women generally are just told what to like. Right now its sweet and ambroxan Jerememes. Unironcally all you actually need if you are under 30 is Sauvage and Eros. I think manly men will become mainstream fashionable again in not too long and we will see a new breed of musks come out.

Creativity in mens fragrances fell off the cliff in the late 90's, before the influence of bloggers, websites and youtube. The aquatic boom was more detrimental to men's fragrances. Take Bvlgari for example, through the 90's they were able to produce high quality tea based fragrences, the development of which, whether you like them or not, were not determined entirely by market forces and lowest common denominators. Then in the late 90's they started producing generic aquatics and boring frags.
The impact on restrictions on popular ingredients (oakmoss, ambergris) and the dominance of dull boring ingredients (iso-e) can't be underestimated. its like restricting the colors an artist can use and replacing them with grey.

Yes. I was one of anons who did the big write up on it explaining that. Your request is a little vague though. If you want less challenging you have the bvlgari aqua line. "calm" and "night" dont really help narrow things down but maybe I'm just autistic. Do you want to be on the shore or out floating in the ocean? Is the water in the warm caribbean or the cold baltic?

Testers are the bottles retailers put out on their shelves for people to try. Often, they get more of these bottles than they need, so the extras get sold off to discount sites. They’re full bottles, they’re just a bit cheaper because they often come without packaging and/or a lid.

>> No.14454831

>>14454813
ah, i get it, what about the actual juice? its probably not compromised because based on that companies do want to sell products but if its the exact same, why not just use the real bottles as testers? that way you wouldnt need to plan extra costs for things you cant make a profit from if you miscalculate

The juice is the same. As you said, it’d be counterproductive to dilute it, because the tester is what’s getting a lot of people to buy your product. Other than that, couldn’t tell you. I’m sure there’s some reason they do it this way.
