What do we think Jeremys "Club for men" will smell like or be a hybrid of? Office for men was more predictable sauvage/bdc hybrid clone. My best guess would be some kind of (stronger) la nuit clone since he worships it every other video and had an existential crisis on the last video with it.

we trotted hillside along the plains by horseback. things were looking cheery and i was happy. in the muddy scores on the trail the horses would dap their hooves lightly in the water. far across the way the day's remuda plodded against the earth kicking up a dust-storm that seemed to scapple the landscape something hazy and sinister. even in these moment's of craven thoughts i made even with my life and moved on. i could eat, speak and listen again with a smile. it was a nice change and i was basking in it. i'd even met a girl. it was a funny ideology of existence. i keep thinking it would come but i finally convinced myself otherwise. i live a quiet life now, and that's okay. night is different however. i can't sleep and in the hum of the darkness it lays with me. i can still feel it in the thick of the black, and the evening residue stains my face and mind and the historicity in me seeks the end, the final stop but i know it's ceaseless, i know there is never that state of perfection and so bathing in the light of the solarium daily has helped rejuvenate me. it's been a nice charge up for the day. i'll do that tomorrow. always looking forward to tomorrow. but at night i need to thin out my serried thoughts and sleep. kouros sleeps with me. i know it. in passing headlights or settling foundation or in the occasional wallknock he's there, but isn't. he's become the suzerain of my mind, and in that peace i close my eyes. "douse," i say lightly under my breath and hope that life quickly passes by.

If you're not wearing Guerlain Vetiver, you're wrong.

Still the best vetiver, an absolute brilliant and evocatice drydown that projects calm masculinity. Works with heat and sweat instead of trying to fight them like shower fresh scents. One of the oldest continually produced vetivers for a good reason and an insane value for the price.

Instead of trying to smell like a fake ocean, laundry detergent and ambroxan this summer, try smelling like a verdant tropical plantation.

Personally, I don’t have a bottle, not sure if I’ll ever get one, but I did get a very generous sample from a very nice salesgirl, so I have worn it quite a few times.

Looking at the note list, you’d probably be inclined to think it’s a sweet, relatively heavy gourmand. It is not. It’s very woody, dry, and fresh, almost astringent. The rum is there, but it has more of a boozy, bitter vibe than sweet. I got little to no vanilla even in the extreme version, which supposedly dials the rum and vanilla way up. The cedar is the dominant note here, not the vanilla or fruit. Very easily could be worn during the summer.

Might cop if I can find it cheap, it’s quite snice, but probably not worth Kilian’s MSRP if I’m being honest, but then, I do feel most Kilian’s are rather overpriced. Back to Black and Black Phantom are the only ones I feel are worth MSRP. Straight to Heaven comes close, but not quite. Just my opinion, of course.

>> No.14430772

>>14429872

Its versatility and character is determined by the amount of sprays you use. The current formulations arent the nuclear projectors of years ago. 1-2 is fine for almost any social situation. Going out 4-5. Reformulations are not a meme and actually happen. People like Jeremy are paid to say "its the same dont worry keep buying it :^)".

Ultra male rant unrelated to eros: I have the OG (2015) ultra male and a 2018 bottle and the difference is tremendous. The pear note is so much more succulent and juicy and noticeable in the 2015. Whereas 2018 you cant tell anything apart. It's my favorite clubbing/going out frag. Not sure whether to use it and enjoy it for myself or price gouge and decant it when it reaches eros or la nuit levels of price inflation in a year or two.

>> No.14430788

Do you think it’s necessary to have a sweet fragrance? I was looking through my collection and the closest I get to sweet is Tobacco Vanille. Things like Bright Neroli have a touch of sweetness about them, but it’s not like Ultra Male or 1 Million.

>> No.14430801

>>14430772

Further, speaking of price gouging I have a feeling (conspiracy theory time) he has a large quantity of "vintage" la nuit bottles he has accumulated and hes pumping the worth of them tremendously so he can cash out. OG bottles are going for 300+ on ebay. I wouldnt put it past Jeremy for that kind of shenanigans and its largely because of him that it has risen to the status it is now. I have a 10ml decant and its literally 45 mins and then gone. Shit tier unless the OG really is something. Speaking of, I'm almost certain he browses this board. He is one of us deep down.

>> No.14430815

>>14430801
I get what you mean, but at the same time I do think it’s an incredible scent, just not a good fragrance.

I wouldn’t put it past him to have filled the bottle with water and he’s sold the lot as decants just so he can uphold the image.

It's really good.

Serge Lutens is one of those brands where most of their bottles are available at well below retail and then a couple of scents get vaulted and you will never see them at discount.

Daim Blond hasn't been vaulted so it's still cheap. Very soft scent. Dried apricots, cigarettes, suede gloves, a sort of gold hot skin musk. It's unisex but you need to sample to see if you can pull it off. Basically if you wear and like Dior Homme, it would be no problem.

>OG bottles are going for 300+ on ebay
I will never understand this fanboy attitude. It's not like a three hundreds old fragrance discovered in a dusty box at the basement of a small chapel in some forgotten scottish vilage. You can so easily find a better replacement for virtually any fragrance around nowadays that it seems to me ridiculous to pay a top shelf niche prices for a literally generic designer juice.

Same with L'artisan Parfumer. The jew in me perks up every time I see a bottle go for 50bucks online because that's a great price, but then I realize it's still a waste for me at 50 bucks becauase I just don't get the point of their frags. Tea for Two was the original fucking meme, before La Nuit and Aventus even. I like Caligna, used to like Timbuktu but it got reformulated.

I don't buy back up bottles. That way i never have to worry about reformulations. When a bottle is done, keep it moving.

Do you have any idea how many bottles I've had over 30 years? At its peak my collection was around 340, 350 in the early 2000s. Then I started weekly swaps and purges.

Having backup bottles to that much shit would have been insane. Sure i would have struck gold with shit like Rochas Lui. I got a bottle for 16.99 online, I think at Perfumebay. Now it's what? 200 online?

To be fair, DFW literally put The Pale King in order, in a neat pile before hanging himself. He knew he at least wanted what he was working on to be published. Hope he doesn't decide to burn his work. But yeah, McCarthy is heady stuff. Suttree is probably my favorite of his, followed by Child of God which I think is McCarthy at his most relentless, brutal. Blood Meridian is probably third.

That’s not strictly true about DFW and Pale King. They were in a kind of order, but the editor writes an introduction to the book and explains that the apparent order wasn’t strictly the correct one. For example, a chapter quite clearly a starting point, is actually revealed in a footnote to be much further in to the book. You’re half right at least.

The opening to Suttree is sublime. It’s just an introduction and it’s one of the best descriptions I’ve ever read. My favourite moment of his is by far the Comanche attack. Breathtaking.

Current Kouros is far weaker than the original, thats whats hilarious about it.

Here's how to wear it:

Bear in mind I'm a 4 to 6 spray type of guy for most scents, but i only spray my chest and wear an undershirt so it mutes the projection.

With Kouros, its 1 spray. 1 fucking spray, maybe 2 small sprays, not two full pumps.
Apply low on chest, between your navel and pecs. At first, closer to the navel.

As you make your peace with the fact Kouros is one of the best scents ever made, and you develop a symbiotic relationship with it, move the sprays high till you're spraying online with your nips.

You don't need alot, Kouros will do the heavy lifting.

Think of it this way: All the "old man" scents were marketted to young men when they came out. There's not a single scent in existence that was created for old dudes.

Dior Eau Sauvahe smells out? Your grandpa came back from two tours in Nam banging asian whores, sprayed that shit on, and transitioned to banging American whores.

Old man scents just remind you of old men because the old fucks got laid wearing it and just kept wearing it. Why mess with a winning formula?

Antaeus....is a "look at how they massacred my boy" affair. Its not even a shadow of it's former self, it's a whole new fragrance.

The good news is Chanel, much like Guerlain has put in serious effort into fixing its reformulations. Platinum Egoiste is better now than it has been in ten years. Women have been like that since I started wearing it. Alot of women think they only like sweet, clean scents on guys because thats what men their age wear and only OLD MEN wear scents like that.

A couple drinks and some body heat normally changes that for the better.

I firmly believe there is no such thing as a panty dropper. A woman will either bang you or she won't a scent won't change her mind and thinking otherwise is lunacy. However it may change her enthusiasm from wanting to sleep with you to "fuck me right here and now" if the chemistry is right and your scent changes her percption of you for the better.

That's why I tend not to wear the hype scents and if I do it's years later. You don't

Some of them can be half decent, the problem is usually that whilst the openings can be a dead ringer for what it's copying, the drydown doesn't match up and the longevity is poorer.

With regards to Aventus clones specifically, if you like the smokey woody aspects, go for Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man, or if you like the fresher, fruity and citrusy aspects, go for Al Haramain L'aventure.

Its unironcially fine by me but I would still never wear it over anything I already have. Have a decant of extreme but for a sweet spicy tobacco I always reach for chergui or tobacco vanille first. It’s an aromatic fougere, not an “aquatic” like the zoomers and sephora shoppers will say “because it smells like an aquatic to me therefore its aquatic.” It contains lavender, geranium, dihydromyrcenol, coumarin, peppermint, etc much like it’s predecessors Drakkar Noir, Azzaro PH, and Paco rabanne PH. They all have a similar structure, CW just has the highest amount of dihydromyrcenol (about 20% of the formula) so it smells the “freshest” out of them. For reference, PR had about 3% dihydromyrcenol, Azzaro had 5%, Drakkar had about 10%, and Pierre Bourdon put 15% into GIT as an experiment before making CW.

Its honestly a scent held together by extremes. On the one side you have a fine milled bar of herbal soap and on the other you have the raw smell of a locker room.

The two sides are equally matched and it's the tension between them that makes it great.

I'm an old fuck, been wearing it for decades. The truth is some of the stories of its potency and sex smell are exaggerated and it's a perfectly wearable manly fragrance. Think about it, it's been in production since 1981. M7 was discontinued, Rive Gauche was discontinued, Live Jazz was discontinued, etc. But Kouros lives on in continous production. If it was that out there not enough people would buy it and it would die off.

But it soldiers on. Do all men like it? No. Do all women like it? No. But enough do to justify it still being made, and that speaks to its appeal.

Wear a single spray, and just relax and enjoy it. Its like a single malt scotch. You don't chug a bottle of scotch, your pour a small glass and enjoy it over time. Not everyone likes scotch either.

I bought it actually because of the oldfag who was recommending it. It’s really snice but intimate. Stays really close to the skin. The comparison to Dior Homme is on point but it’s rather because of a bit metrosexual vibe it emits not the notes, however there’s also this lipstick quality to it because of iris and apricot combo. After seeing Imaginary Authors in previous threads I decided to try them out. I was blown away by how good they are. I would rather wear one of these than any Creed I own, Sauvage, TdH, Any Versace, or CdG fragrances.

Cape Heartache is very sweet strawberry campsite. Its very nice but didnt perform too long, maybe 4 hours.

Memoirs Of A Trespasser is simply amazing. It smells like Tobacco Vanille but much better, like marshmallows and rum. Lasts forever. My favorite so far.

Every Storm A Serenade smells like Petrichor, the scent after it rains and is constantly shifting from Sea Dock to Fresh Rain to Middle of the Ocean to Heavy Storms, Beautiful and my second favorite.

Yesterday Haze I wasn’t a fan of, it smells like Women’s lotion inside of a leather glove.

Slow Explosions is decent, it smells like women’s perfume with firework residue. Interesting.

Whispered Myths is very cool. It makes you smell like a Marble Statue in a museum and sometimes a plank of driftwood of some ancient greek war ship. Very cool if anything else.

The Cobra and The Canary definitely smells like a duality between the venom of a cobra with sharp bites and the sweetness of a Canary with clean smooth feathers in a woman’s home. I wouldn’t wear it but it definitely is not bad.

A City On Fire smells like liquid bbq smoke and makes you smell like ash and mystery. It is very interesting but requires confidence and coolness. This isn’t a casual smell, wear boldly.
