Close fly and waist button.

That's what I think and also sometimes it can be really great though most of the time people amazingly fuck up just like prep. Also, one question brought around a lot is how to atualize prep fashion, how to bring it to the 21 century. I think is very telling of the situation that most reference books of this style are from like fifty years ago. Also very few fit pics (original content). It's very alarming. I'm starting to think that most people in these threads just wanna larp and complain about how things were better in "the good ol' times". And thus is covered the subject of time.
A much more relevant question is the one of space. I'm not gonna pretend I'm an american. And a huge number of people here aren't either (I'm including the europeans). This makes some stuff troublesome weather-wise. Sometimes is just too hot to wear layers. And more important than anything: there are different cultures worldwide all with its own quirks and traditions. So I'm not gonna copypaste the Ivy style because this is the complete opposite of being effay. I'm not gonna larp as the white trust fund kid that I'm not, because most people here aren't either. I'm gonna take from this system what serves me and discard the rest. I'm gonna take the stuff I like and throw into the trash bin the rest. I'm gonna own it, make it my own. And mostly I'm not gonna follow those bland charts. They absolutely suck.

I just ordered some Cordings cotton chinos, and they fit perfectly. They are technically "dry clean only", and while you can machine wash them, supposedly they shrink. After washing a pair a couple times, on delicate, with cold water, turned inside out, there was no shrinkage from what I could tell.

They sit just over the hips but below the navel, having a 11-12" inch rise (depending on the waist size). For reference, Levi 501's have a 10" rise. They taper down the leg, so they are not a "sack", nor are they slim or in any way hug the leg. A good compromise for a guy who wants to mature out of slim fit but isn't used to having a more "expansive" silhouette. You can order them hemmed to your liking, but imo its best to order them unfinished (at 37" inseam) and then get them hemmed/cuffed yourself, especially if like myself you're ordering internationally and dont want to fuck the length up.

I got navy, khaki (british khaki) and putty (what we'd call khaki). Immensely pleased with how they've turned out, blind buying pants can go very wrong. Might grab some in cream next time they have a sale, and some of their cords/moleskins/gabs when I feel like leveling up my game
