Going to Japan, Korea and China for a trip pretty soon
Apparently Koreans dress very nicely and will discriminate against poorly dressed people.
How do I not bring shame to Americans when im over there.

He's full of shit. The Japanese tend to be more critical of you, and you'll never truly know if they're being genuine due to their culture, but the Koreans absolutely adore Americans. Hell, their entire media system, especially pop, is just a direct copy of ours.

Some of what he said was true. The Japanese tend to be more critical of foreigners, but the younger generation, at least in major cities, are interested in Americans and other foreigners. Not in a sexual way, but from a cultural exchange point. However, it'll be hard to tell whether the Japanese are being honest, or are simply faking kindness due to their culture codes. Koreans, on the other hand, almost universally adore foreigners, and you shouldn't have a problem with them.

I've been to Tokyo and Yokohama. As for South Korea, it's just been Seoul. This was all for business reasons, not personal vacation.

I’m a 6’2 blonde American living in Osaka and I dress SLP-cowboy core and people love it. Just dress how you feel and people will be responsive to it. There’s so many different fashion subcultures here you can’t really impress everyone.

Japs are generally an extremely xenophobic lot. They're polite, but it's sweet lies in most cases. Japan is a great place to stay or work in for a while. But not exactly the best place for a foreigner to settle.
