Here's how Lange applies their perlage. That's tip is made out of rubber-like material and is grained with abrasive paper before it's used on the plates and bridges (not shown in the video). For more, watch the thread video.

I have a few divers etc and think this would be a perfect beater watch that looks nice and crisp. I'm sick of g-shocks atm. Breitling have legit upped their game in recent years. I'm not embarrassed to say they have some good watches atm.

Omega are a mixed bunch. They do have some nice dress watches but remember they are at the same level as Tudor price-wise so can't compare to Rolex when it comes to divers.

Boss of the dealership took one look at him and fobbed him off onto the junior salesman who was only of the 2nd day of his job. Well, if it were adjusted to the CHF, then my graph would have to be higher in the first years until 1975, where the CHF was 4x the dollars value, then slowly falling to 2.5x the value.

And as the values get closer to 1:1, my graph should be getting flatter but instead it continues to rise in an almost straight line.

Why the fuck are there basically no clean steel sports watches?

I just want an affordable Rolex Explorer-esque watch, but everythings fucked. The only options as I see it are the Seiko SARB033, which are annoying to buy, or Longines Conquest Auto, but Longines as a whole gives me faux-rich vibes. Everything else either errs on the dressy side, is an over-designed piece of shit, or is too close to Rolex prices that I may as well buy one (which I will in the future)

Should I just take the diver pill? There's far more options at every price point, they just feel s.oy as fuck to me for some reason, its too #beards and #whiskey. What do people think about Phoibos?

Is it a slightly domed mineral crystal? Looks like heat and cold is a common problem with microbrands and other low-volume production shitters. It happened ten years ago with the 2007 edition of the 1967 Amphibia. You can still find the forum of people finding their limited Amphibia with a mineral crystal cracked in the bathroom after taking it off for a shower.

Few months ago I had a microbrand shitter in (pic) that also had its domed mineral crystal spontaneously crack.

Unironically yes. Just get yourself a Rolex 114270 in mint condition and forget about buying another watch ever again. It's okay to read, read reviews and such about horological subjects. You don't have to buy every watch you want to enjoy watches.

I was the exact opposite.
After all those hours looking at watches in pics, first time I handled "real" watches I was absolutely blown away by how tiny and perfect everything looks irl.
Even a Speedmaster, which I always thought was going to look pretty bland, looked absolutely amazing in the hand.
The effect is twice as prominent with Grand Seiko; I could see the entire store reflected in the case flank, down to the most minute detail.

I hope you know your graph is comparing the price of a rolex sub vs the price adjusted for inflation.. so you can see the price has barely risen more than inflation since 2000... which is understandable considering the massive upgrades they have made in the quality of the watch and the increasing popularity of the brand

kek, why won't they sell you a rolex? you mean a sub? it's the same for everyone else, get on the list or buy one used at +25% retail.

I wouldn't get a sub anyways, I think it's the most overdone rolex in history. You can get rolex quality in any of their models. I got myself an OP 36, which has the same 3130 movement a no date sub has. Build quality is definitely the same, only place you can notice the OP is an "entry model" is the rolex emblem on the clasp, which is engraved instead of embossed like on the more expensive models. I also argue the base OP is the best rolex because it represents the quintessential rolex qualities. The oyster perpetual was their first model, and the first model to have an oyster case and bracelet (same as today). It's also seriously versatile with a black dial, fashion wise.

>basically an old GS movement.
Not exactly, but close. The 4S15 is based on the old Daini Seikosha produced 52xx series movements used in some King Seiko models in the early 1970s. When Seiko wanted to bring back high-grade mechanical watch production in the early 1990s, they dusted off the 52xx and updated it as the 4Sxx family. You can basically think of it as an ETA 2892A2 top grade equivalent.

After using the 4S15 in mid-range watches for a few years, Seiko decided that the 4Sxx was too labour intensive to produce and too high-end a movement to use in mid-range watches, and moved the the movement over to its Credor sub-brand and replaced it with the inferior 6Rxx family of movements in its mid-range offerings.

ok let me put it this way so your 70 iq can understand. if the red line was flat across the graph, then the price of a sub would have kept the same over the years adjusted for inflation. meaning:
1970, 1 dollar = 1 dollar
in this example, lets say the rolex sub cost 10 dollars in 1970
if in 2000, 1 1970 dollar = 5 dollars (inflation at work)
then the sub would cost 10x5 = 50 dollars.

^that would be if the red line was perfectly flat and straight across the graph. see, the red line is going up slightly, which means the price of a rolex adjusted for inflation is increasing faster than what would be caused by just inflation (which is unavoidable).

okay, so if you know anything about inflation vs cost of living, you can check and see that almost every single thing you can buy has increased ahead of inflation, so this is in no way out of the ordinary, im fact, the red line represents a very low relative price bump from rolex. if you reply with a pepe, kill yourself asap

do you perhaps think, the merits of the moonwatch are the same merits that allowed NASA to chose this specific watch or several competing watches to go to the moon? the fact that it was engineered in cooperation with NASA is a testament to it's greatness. let me guess, you think the hesalite model sucks too, because hesalite isn't saphire!

really? it works the exact same way, it's just not as important when you're not in zero gravity in a space ship. they didn't want sapphire because the glass could shatter and float around and puncture something. hesalite breaks more like windshield glass and isn't sharp when broken.

sapphire glass isn't even better than hesalite, it's just way more scratch resistant. popular with consumers because people don't want to scratch the watch, but it's also way less impact resistant than hesalite. that's why hesalite is good in field watches

They worked with Breitling more than Omega pre Apollo 11 mission completion. They picked the speedy up from a store and was the first watch that past their tests, no cooperation at all in the design of the watch. Bulova and Rolex GMT were as NASA designed (both have been to the moon).
At least the Breitling 24 hour was (rumoured to have been) a request from an astronaut, he requested a 24 hour version of his Navitimer he loved so much. Coincidentally the first watch in space as well though it may have been the 12 hour version.
