My parents did this, my brother at 18 and me at 24. When they had my brother they had nothing, by the time they had me they were doing better. They wound up doing really well. I don’t think you have to be hugely wealthy to go that route and have a good family, my dad had a degree in law and turned down a legal career so he could spend more time at home.
