Please direct me to other places except /fa/ where decent inspo is posted and maybe where there is even some fashion banter
/fa/ is surrealy shitty at this point, I don't have any intention of participating in threads with retarted teenage twinks that say yikes and autistically repeat SLEAZECORE and other memes from a few years back
The autistic le memes would maybe be tolerable if 95% of this board wasn't made up of retards that literally can't dress or think for shit, it seems there is a new even more idiotic zoomer hivemind on /fa/
only decent threads are random inspo ones and even at that they are really, really slow

also post inspo you like, if someone has 00s male inspo that doesn't look really funny that would be really great

There are substantive threads on mfa every once in a while- much more frequently than on here. The trick is to scan for those and ignore the JCrew/timeless basics/I'm 40, newly divorced, and wanna turn my life around by buying clothes threads.
Lookbooks and runway shows are also posted with decent regularity though they don't generate too much discussion and tend to be confined to Japanese Americana and oversized minimalism so ymmv there.

Yeah /fa/ is shit but remember you're on 4chan for a reason and that's because your alternatives are Reddit, which is plebeian and regressive to the mean or Internet forums which are populated by boomers and attention whores.

I think the best place for inspo would be medium size Instagram accounts or fashion publications (they have decent accounts too). Here's a catch-all list of different clothing publications if you need help starting off.

I'm with you. I've mostly just ignored the weekly "/fa/ sucks now" threads, but these last couple of years the quality has dramatically dipped, and it's worse every day. On the rare times we actually have fashion discussion, I'm stunned by how dumb and ignorant people are. We don't even have good threads during the major fashion weeks, and people seem more disgusted than ever by anything that isn't safe/trad, like to the point where it borders on disdain for experimentation. And that's not even going into the race/politics derails.

I think I could handle the lack in quality when we still had funny shitposts, but now the shitposts aren't funny, and the memes get beaten to death before they have legs. I just can't bring myself to sign up for reddit though.

Reddit mfa doesn't have much value anyway. It's a decent place for life long slobs that need a guide to start understanding how to buy clothes that actually fit.
The "fashionable" guys praised on mfa mainly do a minimal slim fit look.
A lot of the brands/fashion concepts that they love would have been relentlessly made fun of here in the old days. Most of the fits shared over there are on the spectrum of boring to cringe.

reddit isnt any better, its shit in different ways

especially the karma system that essentially streamlines all opinions into hyper-nice, inoffensive blandness

>> No.14101811

I do agree that the vote system is kind of fucked, especially for a fashion forum since not everybody is going to agree on what looks good (see: this board). That being said reddit does have a few upsides.

r/mfa is generally shit on here, and for.. kind of good reason. By design, it's the "hello I am a recent high school grad and I need to look like an adult, pls help" subreddit. Since you appear to know your way around things, doing anything other than peeking at their WAYWT threads (which mostly feature the patented MFA-core) is probably bad for your health.

r/malefashion is, in short, a never-ending WAYWT thread with the occasional discussion thread. There's a huge range of styles going on there, some being better than others. There's probably going to be something for you there, but if you do go there I would keep in mind that not everything will be to your taste. YMMV here.

r/streetwear is self-explanatory, but that place seems to have expanding into things that are not exclusively streetwear (or nigger-core, if you prefer). There is a whitelist system in place on this subreddit, but that doesn't seem to stop "instagram brand whore"-tier outfits from finding their way to the top. I don't know about this sub since I just don't visit it.

I guess r/techwear is a thing, not that I would go there...

As others have said, seeking out good instagram pages can be good, but finding them usually takes a lot of work.

That's as gay as people posting FUCKNIGGERS_pepe.jpg here though. You're not original or edgy, especially on this site. I wonder if people like internet historian realize they're actually ruining this site by spoonfeeding normies 4chan culture. That's how we end up with Lawlets and edgy frogposters.

Actually, maybe not. Now that I think more about it, quality has dropped heavily since the 4chan/4channel split. I don't know. I give up.

I genuinely and unironically think that this board would benefit from moderation. The shitposting has gotten out of hand.

>> No.14104783

>>14103462
A lot of boards have become like this. And it's not light-heated shitposting that's the issue. I think it's the acceptance of sincere but vaguely related topic discussions. People liked old /fa/ because it was more of a hobby board frequented by people who genuinely followed fashion, maybe even had a passion for it. There were still funposts and memespouting, maybe even moreso than now, but it was very topical and done by people who understood the basics of the industry.
Now a lot of threads are people desperately buying into the self-improvement pathos and looking for anything to help cure their sexual frustration. It's newfags looking for a clue but no one bothers maintaining the fuccboi general and when it's up no one knows to post there first. /lit/ and /mu/ are becoming the same way; endless >tfwnogf posting because the art of fashion or literature in itself is not their speed. Honestly, threads about SEXcore or redditwear are topical and do belong here. You don't have to visit them but those are genuinely fashion related. It's the tripfag, "aesthetic", and "what is the most /fa/ x?" threads we can do without. Also we should have mods redirect people to the hair or fuccboi generals instead of having a bunch of threads dedicated to them.

I've wanted several times to apply to be a janitor to fix this board by aggressively deleting shitposting and thinly veiled /s/ and /pol/ threads, but the clauses requiring you to sign a legal agreement and use discord/irc are too much of a turn off.
