See, to me, that one’s the easiest to beat. You’ve got Roja Enigma, Kilian Back to Black, even things like Slumberhouse Norne and Kiste (though those are admittedly a bit different. You also have things like Mancera Red Tobbaco. There are just a ton of sweet-woody-tobacco scents out there.

I've sampled Enigma and thought it was pretty different, much heavier on the booze and plummy, jam like notes, nice but different. Red Tobacco, I don't know, there was something in it I didn't like, some note that just smelled bad to me, maybe I should give it another try sometime. Haven't tried Back to Black because the pricing of By Killian samples is exorbitant but I wanna get my hands on it, plus Chergui.

True, Enigma does have a pretty different vibe. Back to Black is very snice. Has a lot going on, tobacco, cherry, ginger and other snices, great honey note, very interesting stuff. It is expensive, but very much worth a try.

Kilian’s Black Phantom is worth a look as well, if you like spicy-smoky-gourmand scents. Very odd, and won’t be for everyone, but it kind of smells like... smoky peanut butter with rum and coffee, but in a very pleasant way, if that makes any sense.

What the fuck was Jerememe thinking. Fragrance One: Office for Men, not a bad idea, an almost modernist purely utilitarian name and design that would suit made into a series of low-middle cost frags along the same lines; club, evening, etc.

Then he decides he wants to *clap* and *spin* off an entirely different direction deep into niche pricing territory, where "office for men" is deeply uninspiring.

Firstly, it was clearly a ballpark number.

I have creed Himalaya, dior homme sport and acca kappa sandalwood and black pepper. Out of these i like the dior the most, i think its the most interesting. I smelled DHI and i liked it too, i want to buy it some time, but right now im searching for something dark, and maybe unconventional. DHI is too "nice" for me right now, not what im searching for. I think maybe ombre leather would fit that, from what someone said in this thread?

Looking for recs for a general daytime scent and also for something else to wear for social/nighttime occasions. Was thinking of Prada L'Homme for the daytime and AdG Profumo for social/nighttime occasions. Alternatively, I was looking at just getting a bottle of Molecule 01 for everything. BdC Parfum might also be a good choice?
Any input is appreciated.

ombre leather is pretty challenging but I am really not a fan of the more hardcore leather scents in general. oud wood and jazz club are much safer and more conventional than they seem by looking at a note breakdown. I would recommend you sample sycomore from the chanel exclusifs line, should also be able to test it at a chanel boutique. its a smoky peppery vetiver with woodsy undertones.

Interesting. I find the leather in TL to be much more "quinoline." The jasmine in OL acts much like the raspberry in TL imo.

>i cannot see how it warrants any comparison to dior homme
I mean, yeah, they don't really smell alike (although they are both leather/floral dominant). I just imagine them being appropriate in the same situations - OL leaning more casual and masculine.

I've finally got it. Prices were outrageous but I've kept searching and finally found a decent bargain.

Everything you've read about it is true: soapy, fabric softener kind of scent. It's a frag outstanding in a sense of how comfortable it makes me feel. Sensation of being clean and fresh coming from vetiver and neroli. Iris notes are pretty mild compared to Prada l'Homme and especially compared to Dior Homme line. Purchased Ginepro Di Sardegna and Colonia Essenza today. Thanks for the advice whoever that might have been.

>> No.14085373

Following on from this, I tried Fico Di Amalfi and it’s heavenly. That said I feel the sweetness is a little much for me and I suspect the high heat will make it worse. Ginepro is much more understated and seems to have more depth to it. Plus I think the heat will make it even better and the fact Juniper is rarely something you notice others wearing it should stand out without being a big bold fragrance that asserts its presence.

As for Essenza, it still has the freshness of Colonia, but again, more depth. I think the problem with Colonia is that it smells nice on card and the citrus really shines, but honestly the drydown smells too much like the soap in the toilets at work and I just can’t deal with that. It’s a nice smell, but it reminds me of old men shitting.

My bad. Opens up with a nice soft lavender bergamot combo. Really doesn't smell like other scents from it's time. Not old man at all. About hour into it a green spicy mix (cinnamon, artemisa, cypress) starts to emerge and lasts for for the majority of the time. In the far dry down you're left with a very nice ambery musk smell. I don't get any oakmoss in this version which is unfortunate but it makes this scent not smell like an old man. This is much more smoother then many other scents from it's time. If you wear this today you would definitely smell unique. Overall I would say it is a good buy if you don't have a lot of old school scents.

Nothing, it's just an overrated fragrance. People talk of the beautiful "sandlewood". Shit, everybody that wore it back in the day agreed that it smelled like shower curtain and margarine by the end of the day. I haven't smelled the current formulation but I'm sure it's be reformulated so this is going by the vintage. At least Obsession had a bit of masculinity, Egoiste was way too feminine. You want sandllewood, Tam Dao is still your best bet. That's a frag I'm glad is getting hyped around here. Of course, I'm an old fuck and what I look for in fragrances has changed since I used to be the the literal Chad Miasma. We could take the paint off the wall with the amount we used to spray. Nowaday, I like scents that are soft and intimate. I'm now proudly The Virgin Spritz.

The idea of a signature scent is thought of as something of a misguided, beginner pursuit, but what about a signature fragrance house?

I was thinking Guerlain. They all share a lot of characteristics (guerlinade) while allowing for a multi-faceted collection. I also like the idea of the visual symmetry with all the bottles

is this a retarded idea?

for me, its a signature accord. even though I'm sure I will grow out of that too.

I havent tried Do Son but I would say, if price isnt a concern get the EDP. If it is get the EDT. They likely aren't significantly different, but its, what, $40 more for 15ml less juice? Or $60 more for 15ml more juice, depending on the size you get.
The edp will probably last longer and have a richer (perhaps more muted) scent.

diptyques edps aren't worth the price. i've tried both concentration of both tam dao and philosykos and i preferred the edts. i don't notice any difference in performance and i noticed the edps turn powdery and into a skin scent quicker (i guess there is a difference in preformance kek). this was way more evident in philosykos. the edt is fresh and fruity, juicy like fig should smell, and the edp was way too sweet. it was a bit richer but that type of vibe doesn't bode well with fig. all in all i'm not impressed with thier edps. their edts are still masterpieces to me tho.

Hey man, i work in an Australian store. For the past year and a half we haven't had any testers in, they ran out world wide apparently. But, we will be always selling it. It was the first male fragrance by Alessandro Michele & famous fragrance man i can't remember. Try the blackberry one or the new one if you dig a non floral fragrance.
