Personally, I hate wearing leggings, but if you want to, I'd recommend getting more sporty leggings like lulu lemons. They're usually more functional than slutty, and I've heard they're comfy too.

2. Wear something long enough/oversized to cover the crotch.
Otherwise yes, they look slobby. If chubby/fat, try black or dark-colored jeggings instead. More control but still pretty comfy.
