Depends what light fixtures you have. But one thing I always do is check what shade of light the lightbulb gives off. Warm Light, Cool Light, Cool White, etc. You'll have to select one that fits the room, but I strongly advise against one that gives off that cold dead office lighting. It looks cheap and depressing.

first of all, throw that white cabinet, it clashes with everything else, you cant place ikea shit on a traditional style room like this one.
Get some stuff out, this has potential but you need to mix it with some minimalistm (not full stupid minimalism)
Tht roman column doesnt work with the style, take it out, the couch looks cheap, get a different one
Put a very nice big and comfy rug and maybe a eames kind of chair with an ottoman

I bought mine specifically to be my reading chair. I think it's very comfortable especially if you kick up your feet on the ottoman. One problem I have is that because it leans back so far you have to hold up your book in a way that gets tiring if it's a heavy book.

Idk what you're talking about. Americans use the same word to describe the same thing. When it's an exposed second floor it's a loft, but those are normally in proper houses. When it comes to apartments, lofts are just open areas.

What do you want to know? They are all pretty easy to take care of. I don't really notice it anymore. If you are starting out you can't go wrong with a monstera, golden pothos, spider plant and my Hart's-tongue fern has been surprisingly easy to take care of. Other ferns need higher humidity to really grow nicely. Don't be discouraged if a plant dies on you, happens to me as well. Like I said I'm not really good at this.

About the light, there was an scandinavian anon in the last plant general with quite the impressive artificial light setup. It makes your room look like a weed farm tho.
