How do you dress well without making it seem like youre trying too hard to dress up. For example matching all fall colors is cliche and tryhard imo. How do you put together a good fit while also making look like you just slapped on whatever was lying around

I don't understand this whole tryhard deal. Why would you not want to look like you try hard, why look half assed?

It's way more about your attitude than the clothes you wear. If you don't have it now you probably never will. Also just wear all black clothes that will well, then you'll truly achieve the fashion end game.

Idk but my best guess would be to start wearing clothing suited to your body...or clothing that at least fits well. Without being an ironic asshat, I think this entire board can agree on who looks the best out of the two guys in pic related.

This but also don't make your style really easy to pin down. Like don't make it easy for people to describe your style with one word. The best dressed people I see are usually ones who look nice (not like a slob) and not overly trendy. If I can look at you and say "oh he likes streetwear" or "oh he uses tumblr" you're trying to hard to conform to a specific style. People have told me I look effortless so that's why I feel I can give decent advice on it.

prep looks best on young people, it's just that you need to be somewhat muscular to pull it off. you need to be able to fill up a regular fit trouser atleast. prep is all about functional clothing that fit your active lifestyle.
on boomers it's nothing special, just normal clothing. there is nothing for them to pull of really

It's very hard. Correct term are nonchalance or sprezzatura.

Step 1: be tall and fit with good shoulders
Step 2 : wear uniqlo and gap, while buying the most boring color possible

The big thing is just learning to be comfortable in your own skin, and that's why /fa/ struggles so much. They're trying to hide something or make false declarations about themselves via their fashion. Once you're comfortable with yourself, you can pull anything off.
Beyond that, just make sure that your clothes are well kept, fit your body shape and are appropriate to the social setting.

Some french fashion designer in the 50s said something along the lines of:

‘Looking good is dressing the same as everyone else. But better’

Basically you have to dress to your environment. If youre attending a preppy ivy league school dont try to dress like

>>13817983

Youll just be a fucking weirdo.

But lets say youre in a bohemian community in a liberal city. That fit could work.

Lets say youre in a university setting. Dress to your degree. Compsci? Normcore brands. Art? Slightly more obscure brands etc,

Essentially dressing like >>13817983
Wont make you instantly cool. You have to dress to your environment.

So stop being a neet and get out of the house
