Anyone else here have anything from Thursday Boot Company? I got a pair about a year and a half ago and I'm really pleased with how they've held up. I wear them almost every day, often on a motorcycle (lots of contact with the shifter, ground) and after a resoleing they're basically as good as new. I just hit 'em with some polish once a month and some conditioner once every few and that seems to keep them in shape.

I've only used the regular m77's, but I used them for a year while in service and cant say anything bad about them, the m77pilots are pretty much the same.

They're a pair of boots that last long and is comfy enough once you've worn them in. That's pretty much all that can be said really.

I have my first shit job that barely pays, and I have some extra spending money I'm itching to invest into some decent casual boots.
Mainly for fall/winter, but could be for year round.

Honestly, dont have a clue, just was handed a pair at the depo and have had them for 8 years. Dont know who made them as the label on the inside is worn of long time ago.

They're a bit big in size because the insides are unlined because you're supposed to wear socks depending on weather and not have puddles of sweat in them in the summer.

So probably buy one size smaller if you're only intending to use regular socks.

What are these spots that keep showing up on my new boots. I keep thinking that I dripped oil on them but then the spots disappear overnight. They reappear after I wear the boots for a few hours. Is it just from the heat and moisture of my feet? Honestly makes no fuckin sense. I dripped water on them and it doesn't stain like that. Maybe because thats where the leather flexes the most?

I haven't oiled them at all, its the factory finish atm. That sounds plausible though. I had the same idea but it seemed ridiculous, I didn't think there could be any moisture trapped in new leather. Maybe I'll email the company about it and see what they say. The spots are unsightly and annoying, I've worn the boots to work 3 times now and they show up after 3-4 hours on my feet. I almost had a heart attack thinking that motor oil or grease dripped on my new boots.

As far as I know it's for added durability as the toe is the most likely to have stuff dropped on them or hurt.
Now though since these are fashion boots and no one works in them anymore it's just for aesthetics. I love the cap toe personally because it breaks up the silhouette and prevents clown toe from happening.

Anybody ever own Frye boots? I've had two pairs and both slowly lose the black color on the soles when they get wet. Just walking through wet leaves will do it the first time you take the boots out. I'm always having to re color them with shoe polish. I expected them to be high quality for the price but they really weren't. Besides being handmade I don't think I like the boots.

† To expand on this, the quality of Frye boots depend entirely on the specific boot. Some of the boots they make are made in the US. Some are made in Italy. A lot are now made in China. The ones made in China can vary drastically because it's different factories making different styles. I'd be careful of the Chinese ones. They're 1/3 the cost of the US/Italy made ones for a reason.

Your issue, sole recoloring, is pretty interesting. After they cut the sole they use a hot piece of metal to seal it (melting it) then paint over it with wax. The wax is supposed to be water resistant. How long ago did you buy the boots?

Ah, I see exactly what's happening. This really is just a case of the wax coming off. They sand down the cork then apply wax so it's the same color as the shoe. It shouldn't come off that easily... but don't worry. It's an easy fix.

- Resole America is Frye's preferred shoe repair service. I've used them before. They're good. If you send those boots in they'll recondition the leather and reapply the wax (it'll be much better than whatever garbo the mexican factory used).
- I've never owned leather boots where the color DIDN'T fade over time. The leather is dyed. The dye fades through use. It happens. Good news is, it's really easy fix that and redye. Again, Resole America can do that.
- Applying shoe polish won't damage anything, but it'll come off over time too, and you'll have to keep reapplying it. It's better to use wax.

If your boots are under a year old (since date of purchase) Frye will cover the repair costs. I had a pair where I accidentally damage the finish, and they paid Resole America to reapply it, even though it was completely my fault.

Ive had my pair of Tony Lama boots for 2 years and just got them resolved cause the leather wore through. They cost me about $189 and are made in Texas, size up a half size for Tony Lama. No cracks whatsoever in the leather. I melted layers of sno seal in them about a years ago and conbined with the rubber sole, my feet stay dry. Wear wool socks too, I use smart wool or kirkland brand ones cause theyre made in USA too and dont stretch out like crazy.

Really depends what color. Naturally a surplus jungle boot with a good insole. Theyre perfect for PNW airsofting but ive also worn my corcoran jump boots too. Then again I'm only wearing ALICE or similar shit so I try to stay period correct.

Jungle boots are really flexible, light, breathe/drain, and are aesthetic as fuck, they also come in brown or green/black. Just make sure to get surplus.

Barbour traditional fit moleskin trousers, they're actually like a slim fit if you buy true to size. They're about 7 or 8 years old so they've got some nice wear on them. I decided to get me some boots and I need advice.

I'd like them to be about as high as pic related, I'd also prefer them tan but brown is cool too, and for what concerns the design I don't want anything too serious or that looks something some old granpa would wear. At first I looked into desert combat boots a la shia, but honestly those are bit too extreme and unusual to wear casually for me.

I live somewhere urban where it rains all the time and I'm constantly out and about and I'm tired of having wet feet BUT I really prefer low profile shoes that aren't bulky or extremely high heeled. I wore chippewa apaches daily for about 5 years (only resoled once). Eventually after I started flying monthly or more the steel toes were too much of a pain so I swapped to sneakers.

It's kind of jarring just how light and comfy sockshoes are. I still love the look of aged leather, but I can't imagine going back to boots on a daily basis.
