Kek, saw the same thing when I was browsing whatchuseek in search of info about Tissot fakes. That branding is either from a fake or some stamping from a gray market warehouse in hk.

https://forums.watchuseek.com/f62/le-locle-automatic-fake-4767695.html

They couldn't possibly have "swiss made" on the face if the watch was made in hk. You're just being an elitist seiko /g/ shitter. Seriously if I'm thinking about watches I think swiss made, if I think of Japan that's because I'm probably fapping to hentai.

hi /fa/g/s!

decided to give you a little report on what i got lately:

1/3) Amphibia WUS project watch - a reproduction of SLAVA diver from the 80s - mine since april

the photo does not do the colours justice (sorry about that, forgot my decent camera at the office)

best money I ever spent - if you see one on the secondary market, just go for it, even 500 bucks is decent for something so unique and truly stunning in the metal. I am never selling mine. I want my kids and grandkids to wear it. this is the kind of watch that is still every bit as sweet when it's all banged up and scratched. that said, the finishing on the case is meh at best. I understand this is partly due to brushed finish, as opposed to polished on standard production models of the 150 case. I had to file down sharp edges myself, yet my love for this watch never diminished

Conclusions:
- Chistopol watch factory can still make a great watch - especially at the price
- Despite the 41,5mm case, the Amfibia 150 is just fine for a wristlet of 15,5cm (srsly, ive kissed girls with thicker wrists)
- https://meranom.com/en/amphibian-classic/150/ just look at the motherfucking prices. what you get for your buck is an in-house movt auto that also handwinds and is rated to 20bar. this is madness!
- runs consistently at +15ish seconds/day, in a decade or two one might have to replace the movement, but they are widely available. does not seem to be inferior to entry-level japanese autos. the biggest quastions remains longevity
- the downsides one has to contend with are the substandard finishing (especially the underside of the case) hussle while setting the date (back and forth between 8pm and 1am) and bad bezel action (depends on the model and your luck)
- neither of the aformentioned downsides have prevented me form wearing, enjoying my vostok and others admiring it

Q: SHOW ME YOUR AMFIBIAS, tell your experiences, post slavshit

2/3) SLAVA handwinding dress watch, 21j, made in 1982 or 1983, in my posession since 2 weeks, worn for 15 years daily by gramps and then pop, then 20 years in the drawer, had to get it fully serviced by a pro and now it is my most treasured piece

stunning radial sunburst, corro..ahem..patina limited to applied indices, cute date window, no lume whatsoever any more, beautiful radially brushed top edge of the case, same lid-and-ring caseback as russian divers, push pull crown. the case is chromed brass, but thankfully the corrosion is limited to the underside of the lugs, acrylic glass in ok state

must be the classiest thing soviets ever made. breathtaking on grey or navy suede. after a quick ebay search while preparing this post it seems this case was not too rare:

No. Tissot watches have very poor external finishing for their price, disposable movements, and a "Swiss" in as much as the rules are written in such a way as to be trivial for the large conglomerates to game so as to be able to sell what are largely Chinese made watched with a "Swiss Made" label.

The Hamilton Khaki models still using ETA 28xx movements and the 38mm IntraMatic are the only good cheap Swatch Group conglomerate models.

oops forgot the third part

3/3) straps from https://www.cheapestnatostraps.com/collections/on-sale

- do not go for their basic nato, pay attention to the pictures, it is glued, not stitched
- the "premium" is the same as basic, but stitched. great value for a tenner
- the simple clasp found on both will fray the most used hole from desk rubbing - after 4 month of daily use the effect becomes visible, one year in bust goes the strap
- premium, retro and seatbelt models do not have this issue
- budget seatbelt natos they are now selling for 7,95 ex VAT are the best thing ever - it is everything they say it is. soft and smooth, neatly stitched and with massive well-made brushed hardware. go for it, but keep in mind they look best on modern tool watches and not vintage-y divers

- "vintage tropic" rubber straps, 1st edition now on sale - well made, not a lint magnet. my two gripes are that the holes are too far apart at 9mm thus preventing a perfect fit and it is a tad too stiff. Both issues seem to be fixed in the second edition. still for a fiver the first edition is a steal and compliments my amfibia
- their leather straps are best bought on sale. i have the "kvarnsjo vintage suede navy" and quite love it. sure ir wears out fast and stretches (had to punch a hole), but it feels and looks great. im a sucker for suede and i think suede does a great job making old shitters look sophisticated, the texture distracting from scratched crystals. especially nice in winter
- that said, i also have their "classic suede" in british racing green and can say it is a good strap, that breaks in quickly and looks very good - would recommend for a tenner
- nothing to say about the grade of their perlon, havent bought any yet
- grey suede nato cost me 24 euros after tax - a tad much knowing how fast it will wear, but i had no choice - my skin is moist and oily making reduction of contact between my wrist and the chromed brass case of my slav an imperative. and this watch deserves better than nylon

conclusion - the name of the business says it all, basic shit dirt cheap, decent shit at decent value. average delivery time to the netherlands is about 10 days, this time i got lucky and had it within a week, they shipped it from germany

And where do you get your straps (besides ebay)?

Watch noob here. I'm really fascinated by automatics but I have a few questions.

Are entry level automatics worth a shit? I really can't justify spending over 500€ no matter what.
How long should one such piece last and how much would a service cost \ is it even worth it or should I consider the watch disposable once it starts fucking up?
Are they even worth it if I want to keep somewhat accurate time?

I'm from Italy so I would prefer a Swiss brand, but the only affordable ones are Tissot or maybe Longines or Oris if I buy used. And finally, redpill me on Seiko. I like the Presage open heart a lot but my jeweler doesn't carry this brand.

No. Rolex has very good external finishing, buy overcharges based on brand reputation. That's very different from Tissot, which has dogshit external finishing and overcharges for it, in the sense that one of them is good, and the the other risk Ali express tier dogshit external finishing.

>Like what?
The Powermatic-80 family is replaced at every service because their cheaper to make than to waste a watchmaker's time servicing. The ETA C07.111 family is therefore disposable.

>Just like Omega
Eh, Omega's external finishing has really improved in the last 5 years so they aren't as bad as Tissot/Longines/Hamilton/Rado/Certina/Mido anymore, though I don't know if they moved more of the Omega production process back to Switzerland or not.

I own a SNGZ13K1 and a SRP765J2.
The 7s36 movement is working amazingly fine for me, pic related is a screenshot of my timings.
The 4r36 was a little more off, around -20sek/day but I readjusted it a little (this is way easyer than you might think, it's just very time consuming because you have to adjust a few days, prop thr whole week to see how changes affect the accuracy)
I managed to get it around +2sek/day when I wear it and -12sek on my winder.

The other anon is somewhat right, you could have bad luck and get a watch that is running at max tolerance for these calibers wich is -40s to +20s/day but this is rare and also easy to adjust.

If you don't want to think about your watch or the efford of setting time twice/month than stick to quartz.

Yet mechanicals are way cooler to look at and if xou get an see trough caseback xou can watch the "heart beat" wich is awesome.

Pretty decent overview of a couple of high-precusion oscillator technologies. Wish I could get more information on SC-cut quartz; they seem to be common in high-end lab oscillators but not in intro literature to quartz cuts. Not him, but I read that the powermatic 80 can be serviced and even regulated. Anyway, what's the big deal with the movement being disposable? According to the website, the full service for a 3 hand auto should cost 150€, and 50€ for a basic service (no idea what this means). Plus you get 2 years of warranty on the replaced movement or on the serviced parts. So what's the problem if it's not serviceable? Maybe it's a retarded question but I've never owned one and trying to get educated.

The issue is not that the Powermatic-80 can be serviced, but rather that it's cheaper for them to throw it out and replace it rather than pay a watchmaker at their service center to service it.

I am also not confident that the limited range of regulation available on that movement is enough to account for the long term wear the synthetic parts in the drive train will experience.

The problem is that entry level Swatch Group watches used to come with 28xx movements that will last forever with proper maintenance, but now they come with cheaper disposable movements for the same price.

The middle class is not the average earning class. If it was, it would ve called "the average class".

It is called the Middle Class because its the class that stays in the middle between the poor and the rich. Its size, and statistical income position is variable from one time and place's to other's depending on historical and sociological reasons.

Today in most western societies to be middle class you need to earn well above the average income, or have some preaccumulated wealth you can live by.

Middle class sounds pretty much like average class to me. Professionals in normal jobs like junior managerial, administrative, teachers, IT, and so on. These earn anything from 30k to 80k a year. Above that I think is a greysone to the upper middle. If you're a person earning the 100k per year then I'd say upper middle - and those are the people who will buy rolex and omegas.
The lower class in my mind are those skilled manual worker or semi and unskilled manual workers, as well as neets and such.

The distribution of income doesnt follow a normal (Gauss) curve. So the average is not the most common, nor is the median.

The social class issue discussion is a quite tricky thing. There are many different approaches or definitions etc. Not the stuff for this thread i think.

And i bet you most of the people buying rolexes, omegas and the like earn less than 100k€ a year here in yurop. Way less. Even so they can afford them without suffering at all.

It hasn't lost £1000. That price is actually correct for the watch on the grey market. As for being a great investment no one knows for sure.

While it's not a limited edition the sector dial series it is only going to be produced by JLC for a short time. So maybe in the future when it's no longer available it could jump in price. However JLC's in general don't have great resale value.

Do any of you know where I can find a thin metal band for this? The leather strap it came with is shiny and it looks a bit cheap. I did find some other croc straps but none of them are very nice looking—they've all got big stitching on the side and are rather thick, and this watch is only 5mm thick, so thick straps look stupid.

Everyone is wrong here. Lightly domed sapphire isn’t expensive, but it reflects light really really badly because it has a much greater surface area than a flat crystal. Acrylic crystal is the least reflective and you can have a very domed crystal without any reflection so the watch is much more readable. Sapphire crystals that are domed are usually coated with a AR coating that has a noticeable color which I find unattractive compared to the clarity of acrylic
