Help me /wt/! I'd love a watch with the same design as the Tissot Janeiro, pic related, but don't want to fork out 3k - 8k for one, which are generally the price ranges I've seen them go for.

Every other watch I've seen with a telemeter dial doesn't have this level of detail. Does anyone know anything that looks remotely close to this?

What's even the point of this children's watch thing? Huge turn off for me. Sinn is nearly impossible to find it my country (physical stores, not fond of buying expensive stuff online unless it's electronics).
That being said I'm googling and I can't find any source on the movement being disposable. In reviews I read that the movement is good and pretty accurate and it can be serviced.

I've seen it at a store and it costs 710€ but if I haggle (the guy is a friend of my father and we bought lots of jewelry and watches there including some more expensive than this) I could probably get it for 650 or so.
I'm not saying I don't believe you or calling bullshit on what you say but really I want to change my mind before I waste 700 eurofag coins. If it's not this can you recommend me a mid end swiss mechanical with a similarly clean dial and 3 hands? I'm also eyeing some of the open-hearted Seiko Presages but I have a boner for Swiss right now.

Can anyone ID on this POLICE watch?

I loved it because it fits my dark brown skin and is relatively thin too.
It didn't seem too flashy and stays just under the radar.
Its a quartz as well.
As soon as I left the shop, I forgot the model number. The shop is too far away to go there and check again.

And what is the general consensus on Police branded watches?

This particular one was being sold for USD 180 but he told he'll give it for USD 155 after I told him I'm gonna leave and will come later.

If the shown watch isn't a good one, what other watches do you recommend me? As I told earlier, I need a watch that fits my dark brown skin. Preferably that goes with a leather strap and something under max USD 150.

I'm trying to find a watch that I want to suggest for my normie friend. 13700709

While today almost all production analog quartz watches (with the exception of spring drive watches) use a stepper motor as the escapement mechanism. Early quartz watches, however, used a variety of mechanisms. The Beta 21 was the first Swiss quartz watch released to the market and the first commercially viable quartz watch (the Seiko 35SQ released in an extremely limited quantity in December 1969 had monumental reliability issues and was essentially a prototype released to the market to get the title of "first"). The Beta 21 used an index wheel system not too dissimilar from the mechanism found in an accutron or other tuning fork watch. The quartz crystal vibrated at 8192Hz (compared to the 32KHz more commonly found today), and a number of integrated circuit frequency dividers divided that frequency down to 256Hz, which was then used to turn an index wheel. The reason for this decision was actually power usage; the frequency dividers used so much power that it an acceptable tradeoff to take the frequency down to only 256Hz.

The Beta 21 was developed by CEH, whose original goal wasn't specifically to create a quartz watch; it was to create an electric watch that could compete with the electric watches coming out of the US. As a result, power reserve of at least a year was considered an absolutely critical requirement. It wasn't until CMOS chips became common in watches (introduced in the Seiko cal 36xx series, the follow up to their 35xx series) that dividing the frequency down to 1Hz and using a stepper motor became viable.

>>13700709
After Seiko and CEH released their quartz watches, other manufacturers made an effort, if sometimes half-hearted, to introduce quartz watches of their own. In many cases, however, the approach was to take an existing watch movement and attempt to retrofit a quartz oscillator to an existing escapement and geartrain. One example was the bulova accuquartz cal 224. This was essentially a bulova accutron cal 218 with a quartz timing package attached. Rather than allowing the fork to vibrate at its natural frequency, the fork was driven by the timing package to run at 341.33Hz (the 8KHz quartz timing signal divided down by a factor of 24). The fork continued to drive the index wheel as normal, and only one wheel had to swapped out of the geartrain of the 218 to fix the ratios. 218s and 224s are largely parts-compatible. The 224 was a well-designed watch, but wasn't enough to save Bulova in the face of the cheaper quartz watches that were becoming available. Bulova eventually ended up being acquired by Citizen, with whom they had a long-standing relationship (citizen had been manufacturing tuning fork designs licensed from citizen in their hisonic and cosmotron lines for some time). The accuquartz, whose second hand advances 341 times per second, is the fastest-ticking quartz-regulated watch (as a reminder, the spring drive does not tick). The accuquartz featured a special logo on the dial in the shape of a quartz crystal; this was a design choice common to many quartz watches of the period.

Luch, a soviet watch manufacturer based in Belarus, went through a similar experience. The watch designers at Luch wanted to invest in designing a quartz watch but Moscow was unsympathetic. Eventually, Luch designed the Luch 3055 movement, a quartz watch using a Luch 3045 as a base. The watch is designed like a traditional transistorized electronic watch, but instead of the hairspring on the balance regulating the timekeeping, a quartz timing package times the electromagnets push the balance back and forth. From the outside, the watch appears to tick like a standard 4Hz mechanical watch. The 3055 was very unsuccessful and unreliable and was quickly supplanted by standard stepper-motor quartz watches.

Timex had a very similar watch, the models 62 and 63. Based off the timex model 40, the quartz crystal ran at 49152Hz, a higher frequency than the standard 32KHz. This was divided down to 6Hz to run a 21,600 mechanical gear train. Watchmakers at the time would proudly advertise higher-frequency quartz crystals as improving accuracy. Like many early quartz watches (and unlike many modern quartz watches), the timex had a user-adjustable trimmer to adjust the rate of the quartz timing.

>>13700770
Speaking of bragging about higher-frequency quartz, Longines made their ultraquartz in the very early 70s. While other quartz watches of the time were using 8KHz crystals, Longines made a major advertising point of their watch's 9KHz crystal. The ultraquartz, like the Beta 21, used an index wheel system to advance the hands, running at 170Hz. It used a feedback system, similar in philosophy to a spring drive, to keep the timekeeping stable. Rather than using an integrated circuit, the watch used discrete electric bits soldered into the movement. The ultraquartz was unsuccessful commercially due to its cost and unreliability.

Buying Rolex nowdays when even literal niggers have indistinguishable replicas is just dumb. I for one, when I see a Rolex (very rarely) always assume the guy is a wannabe nouveau riche faggot with a replica.

When I was in high school (I'm talking about 2005 or so) in my little town during a certain winter, the latest fad in terms of jackets was the Woolrich "Cordura" with the fake fur, split hood. This thing costed 350€, and I was one of the first to buy before the fad because I genuinely liked it and it was damn comfy and warm. Unfortunately within days street sellers and ebay started carrying fakes that outside of a few details were indistinguishible, poorfags started buying the fakes for like 70€ and shortly the fakes outnumbered the genuine ones, including the niggers who were selling this counterfeit trash on the street.

With Rolex it's the same shit, nobody fucking has a genuine one, to the point I even doubt the nouveau riche have genuine one (because seriously it's a 7000€+ watch that doesn't even look that good in most configurations).

I'm not new money, in fact I'm more like three generations of money. Generation after generation customs will change regardless of old or new money, and the fact is that most people will wear dress watches to tuxedos now. No matter how nice of an event, they still wear watches. Royals wear watches for their weddings even. You are just a fool who larp about some kind of etiquette that you imagine the rich are following (but we do not)

Why do you think of pic related or the Tudor Style Date with fluted bezel (which sadly lacks lume...)?

They look great, ETA Top as used to be traditional for Tudor, 100wr with screw down crown, around 2000-2500€... Looks like a good deal or am i mistaken and is Taghuehue tier?

That's because they don't want the Rolex stigma. Nothing screams 'asshole' as much as a Rolex. The people you mentioned could easily afford any watch they want, but they rather settle for something discrete and classy that fits their persona. In case of Rolex, they ruined their image so irreversibly that even their logo alone projects negativity. I had a sub, explorer 1 and even an old daydate, but I sold them all because I noticed how Rolex watches tend to attract all those people you don't want in your life: pretentious assholes, gold diggers, thieves etc.

I made a colossal mistake last week. Went out and bought a watch for nearly a grand. After like 30 minutes the high wore off amd I started feeling major buyers remorse and it keeps getting worse. Now I'm at the point I can't even sleep because the remorse is killing me. I shouldn't have spent this much on this piece of shit that doesn't match with my dress style and is ridiculously overpriced and overexpensive for my income. And being from a mid tier brand if I were to sell I'd take a massive hit. Already went back to the store and begged to allow me to return but it's no returns policy. I wore it a couple of times but nobody even noticed, if anything it made me feel even worse when everyone else was wearing binladen Casios and quartz.

Are you such a weak person that the shitty opinions on some anons on 4Chan is what is going to push you over the edge? At one point in my life the watch I really wanted was an Orient Esteem because I could see the 'Cool Gears'. Everyone makes a bad watch purchase at some point. On the off chance this isn't a shitty attempt for (You)'s, just show us.

41mm, used to have it on a hirsch but like it more on a nato. Got it maybe 2 years ago now on massdrop, can't remember exactly what I paid then but it was def well under 200. Wanted an open heart and the black dial was the safest option. They have since made bambinos with open hearts.

I'd rather have an orient for under 500 (now that the sarbs are discontinued), though that isn't saying much since orient doesn't really have a lot of shit to compete for 500-1000, not really their wheelhouse. Would be cool if they brought back royal orients for a line above star though.

You def are not a watch enthusiast because every idiot can spot a fake if he knows the gen. I worked in a casino and most of the time I could even spot the fake onces from a normal distance.

You can fool most of the people with a fake because they dont give a fuck about watches or brand clothes. If you cant spot the difference between an 300 dollar and a 7,000 dollar watch you are a moron
