My sister went to an art school for visual communication, learned some coding languages and is a genuinely good designer and makes 100k+ now. I'd say the majority of her friends and fellow classmates look like the people in these threads and are either working as baristas or living with their parents.

I don't know if being an art hoe really is a product of the art world, it think its the general category of people that will have no real importance in their lifetime and gravitate to some interest that they have no interest/talent in. It is the same reason my college is full of finance majors and physiologists. In general, if you are good at something in a specific niche you probably will stand out and not fall into whatever cliche already exists (ie art hoe)
