Which fit made you want to get into fashion?

Wasn't a particular fit, that sounds spergtastic.

I was working retail and realized the difference in how I and my coworkers treated/looked at people based on how they dressed. Then I looked for fits for inspo to develop my own style.

Cringe, I know, but probably not the only one (since we are on this site anyways). The idea of looking like a Japanese school girl (complete with dyed hair, cat ears, thigh high socks, and striped arm warmers) was appealing to me. I also got into Subeta, which is a virtual pet site, but I only really cared about customizing the human avatar. Then I wanted to dress like a Lookbook.nu circa 2011 girl (dip dyed hair, bustier top, high waisted studded shorts, and Black Milk leggings) and I got into buying vintage shit. Nowadays, I still love thrifting/vintage shit, but I also am into Helmut Lang and Hedi-era SLP.

Taking meds and eating like shit made me gain like 50 pounds tho, so all I wear are t-shirts and jeans. So for now, I'm just admiring designer shit from afar and dieting until I lose more weight. Wish me luck!

Boomer here. In the 90s it was really about peices similar enough to what everyone else was wearing, but different enough to stand out. Hip Hop and Baggy skater style were the wave, but a touch of preppy was usually included. Baggy cargos but in kahki. Polos, but oversized. Long sleeve shirts under short sleeve shirts. Elbow length, loose fitting button down shirts with chinese/Japanese prints, lifelike lightning bolts, etc were really doing it in 98 99. Fossil watches were a must have. As well as triple link middle of the mall necklace/chains.

When Jackass came out in the early 00s, things changed a lot. Skater style went from hip hop inspired to retro inspired. Undersized Vintage graphic tees, chain wallets were replaced by caribeeners and let's on a belt loop. Flashy print baggy short sleeve button ups worn unbuttoned turned into tight fitted long sleeve plaid cowboy shirts worn buttoned with the sleeves rolled 3/4 length.

That show queer eye for the straight guy blew up around the same time. Although it's been parodied to high hell, itveas very influential at the time. I credit it for re-introducing faded jeans and spreading them everywhere. Granted, natural fades are much better than the sand blasted shit in the early 00s, but the point remains. Before that point, crispy dark denim or universally faded light blue baggies were all you saw.
