It's the room itself. High ceiling, big window facing the right way, well-kept hardwood floors, skirting board/coving. It would be hard to make that room look bad.

You're not going to get a room like that unless you're staying in some tiny Oxbridge college or you're living off-campus. Most dorm rooms are going to be featureless cuboids, and you won't be allowed to hang anything on the wall anyway.

Fuck I'm glad I got out of the dorms and into an apartment. Roommates were a bunch of normie athletes who were annoying as fuck (except the tall brown one who was very nice actually) and smoked weed/had Chad friends over all the time. They also used my coffee pot once without washing it so I asked them not to do that. The nice part is they started washing it out after they used it

The paintings etc are just seasoning. The room itself makes it all. You can't hide shit food with seasoning but you can make great food greater with seasoning.

Don't even bother if you're sharing a bedroom with another person. If you're not, just go by Ikea and pick out plants, a shelf, and a few decorations. Maybe find a cheap print somewhere. I wouldn't bring too much or anything too expensive because you're gonna end up throwing half that shit out on move-out day.

I wish I had a picture of my on-campus apartment (hell of a lot nicer than a dorm, but still pretty shit). I thought it looked pretty good for what it was.
