I though about using Declaration d'un Soir as my dates scent and found out the idea is terrible and the note of rose isn't as romantic as I expected, more like old woman in a church if I may say. I still really like the way it smells, I just don't have much occasion where to use it. And besides that the presentation is really beautiful. Should I just sell it and buy something I will actually use (a date scent like The One or something on that direction) or keep it and expect something to make me want to use it?

Depends on the maker some EDCs last ages. Most of Acqua di Parma's EDC concentree range last ages. I could still smell the musk notes in Colonia Ambra a good 24hrs after I sprayed it on and that was only an EDC. Same with Colonia Essenza, it lasts ages despite being an EDC.

>> No.13612031

>>13611570
I always recommend the EdT over the EdP, although both are great. The EdP has a more amber-sweet character, especially at the opening. You get more citrus and incense out of the EdT, with the amber becoming more noticeable after several hours. Both exhibit similar longevity, though both also tend to be weak out of a brand new bottle. Don't be concerned if your Bleu seems to only last for three or four hours during the first few wears; it will get stronger over time.

It's a milder alcoholic scent, not exactly "I slathered myself in Jack", moreso smooth and invitingly "delicious". If it's a work dinner or a less formal meeting, I could definitely see it working well. I'd probably only wear it occasionally day to day, as it's a bit more exciting and in-your-face than other fall colognes due to the decently strong projection and lingering fruity/boozy notes from the opening. Like I said though, it works pretty well for me when I'm more casually meeting or dining with people in a business setting :)

Tobacco Vanille is nicer, but I’m not sure it’s £100 nicer. I might get a couple of decent sized samples and try them properly before deciding. Yeah it lasts and projects like a vintage 80s frag, I haven't seen anything like it in other 'modern' releases. Find a sample if you can even if you don't end up buying it because it's still worth the experience. I can't think of a better amber/dark incense fragrance I've come across to date. Definitely one of the best TFPB ones but often overlooked because of how difficult it is to find.

Rarely ever. I just suck it up and pay RRP if it's good enough, but buy from a trustworthy retailer like the TF concessions in John Lewis cause they at least give free 5ml decants with each purchase. Occasionally Notino put them on offer but never 50mls and as a range TFPB is frustratingly consistent on pricing at RRP across all outlets.

Only ones I've brought though were Oud Minerale, Oud Wood and Plum Japonaise, Amber Absolute was off a reliable eBay seller. I like Noir de Noir too but I don't think it's really worth the pricetag. Neroli Portofino/NP Forte is pointless too if you own AdP Colonia Essenza.

That's what I like about their concessions with the tester pens being able to go through the whole range and take some time doing so. Took me almost an hour of going through them to settle on Oud Minerale and Plum Japonaise. I guess you just have to go when it's quieter.

Oxford Street is probably different cause of the volume of customers and slant towards tourists but I'd ask if you ever go to a different one. Every time I brought something they offered a 5ml decant without even asking for it at my local one. Shame cause it's a good way of narrowing down the ones that just aren't good enough on performance like Cafe Rose or Neroli Portofino that you wouldn't realise otherwise.

Creed Vintage Tabarome

Originally it was made for him over a century ago alongside a number of other exclusive, secret commissions envisioned by Henry Creed Third Generation for clients including several other unnamed, but very famous dark lords. Henry Creed Third Generation arrived upon the inspiration for this commission while experimenting with black magic and the occult. During a ritual in 1874 he inadvertently made contact with a well-known manifestation of pure evil from biblical times and two other famous tyrants from classical antiquity.

One of these unnamed, but very, very famous figures gave him the initial formula for Creed Vintage Tabarome after carving out the formula backwards with a broken lyre on a drawing room mirror at Henry Creed Third Generation's London residence before departing for the underworld. But against a backdrop of Victorian morality and godliness he could not disclose the circumstances in which this creation was devised thus claimed to awe-struck, exclusive and very famous high society clients that his Creed Vintage Tabarone was the inspiration many common scents found in the 1870s House of Lords.

Of course, all actual records of this were lost in the great Creed Archive Fire of 1979 so we can only speculate about what else may have happened during the process of creating this fine Creed perfume.

There's an even better story too about the origins of the famous Creed ambergris DNA from when James Henry Creed First Generation was asked by a very well known 18th Century pirate to make an exclusive perfume. James Henry Creed First Generation was made to walk the plank and fell into the ocean after a disagreement about the finished product but was saved by a grateful blue whale after the pair had plundered and then sunk a whaling vessel the previous afternoon. He was able to ride the whale all the way back to Europe and was gifted a great lump of ambergris in gratitude for the sinking of the whaler. But this was not before the whale swore to gift the Creed family a yearly lump of the precious material, a practice that has continued ever since down the generations both the House of Creed and the whale's descendants.

Unfortunately that's all that's known about it though as the full story was lost during said archive fire.

Still new to fragrances, got a sample of this and was initially repulsed because the opening smells like playdough. The drydown is a bit better, but on Fragrantica it mentions warm spices and even cacao notes, which I smell none of. tender romance has a 4.2 on fragrantica, which is absolutely fine, actually above average. eros has a 3.8 and sauvage has a 3.7, and look at how many people wear those. fahrenheit has a 3.9 and its regarded as a classic even among snobs.

engaging with you at this level is still taking you at your premise though. the root of the issue is your insecurity. something is distorting your thinking. for example, you have latched onto a handful of negative reviews and interpret them to represent the majority of reviews, which is untrue. second, you interpret those handful of negative reviews as representative of "everyone" around you and your girlfriend, when its just a handful of people who reviewed the fragrance online

more generally and to answer your question personally, no, i am not worried about looking cool. everyone has a different idea of what it means to look cool. it is not my goal to dress in such a way appeal to the greatest number of people's idea of cool ie literally the least common denominator. i wear clothes and fragrances that i enjoy and that interest me

One of my biggest frag disappointments was trying on the EdT after the deodorant. I thought the deodorant and the EdT were the same, but the deodorant is a woodsy cypress incense while the EdT smells like vanilla-spicy arab guy.

If anyone has reccs that smell like the deodorant let me know. The CdG incense series has been long on my list to try, Kyoto may be what I'm looking for.

I still wouldn’t trust it. Never know where they’re getting their stock from, and it’s quite likely the people in charge of getting their supply don’t know frags that well. I debated a lot before deciding. I think I sampled both twice. I didnt really notice difference in performance - pretty weak on both.

I think I finally decided on the edt because it seemed more refined, crisp, masculine. The creaminess of the edp was great but the composition seemed a little more... vague... if that makes sense.

Next time I'll get edp so I can really experience both and decide definitively.
