it's okay buddy. as the other anons said, keep things clean and get someeasyto care for plants. golden pothos hanging down the walls look nice, as do succulents and cacti on shelves and tables. also minimalist décor is easy to pull off, get rid of random clutter and get only the furniture and things you need.

I got it from Anglepoise

1227 floor lamp (aka the "Pixar" lamp). Basically, the archetypal design of task lighting. This is the mini version, which is 2/3 the size of the original. I went through a lot of options and decided on this. Can't go wrong with a classic design that also comes with a reasonable price point (got it for 20% off with spring promo = $188).

They also do some fashion collabs (Paul Smith / Margaret Howell etc,) Worth checking out.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking some nice reddish curtains. I was also gonna pop some extra of the same fabric in the corners to help hide them and make it seem less boxy. I abhor the chair too, but it was the only thing I could find for twenty bucks in a week from craigslist. What would you recommend replacing it with? Get off the fucking floor for starters. Get a desk and chair and a real bed.

If you have a personality, put some of that into it; books/records/instruments/posters. Think of any art you've seen and liked; it's easy and cheap to get a print made and spray-adhesive it to a piece of MDF which looks much better than a normal poster and isn't as expensive as a frame.

Get a new floor lamp too. I had that exact lamp and it was always full of dead bugs.
If you don't have a closet to hang clothes, get a floor rack. They're super cheap.
Hang up some art/mirrors if you can drill in the walls. If not, tape everything up. Your plant idea will help too.

Block mount - there's a massive like 4000x4000 version floating around, get that printed at something like 80x80cm, get a hardware store to cut you some ~18mm MDF to the right size, then stick the print to the wood with spray adhesive. That's what most of the ones in that room are. Cost me like 30bucks all up

Literally just get secondhand stuff. You pay basically nothing for stuff that often has no scratch.

I carefully selected secondhand furniture for my first apartment over the span of about a year and stored it in a rented garage. Whenever I have people my age visiting me they are wondering how I have so much money. I spent less than 350 Euro for all the furniture, minus electronics and a matress.


Or you could learn to work with wood and get leftover wood pieces and make your own furniture the way you want it, for even cheaper.

With a textured wall or ceiling in your case, you can get great light in that room. Cheap LED strips in a warm light/orange, on all the corners or 2 stronger lights on each side, covered with a bar ir something to shine below. It would illuminate the ceiling in a very atmospheric way.

you could always contact the band or record label and say you are interested in having a print from the artist. scan would easily give you the necessary resolution to blow up. the 1000x1000 is fine to make your own vector trace too
